NUCLEAR WINTER RELEASE "SEAGRAVE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Nuclear Winter

Seagrave

MMD Records

21 July 2023

NUCLEAR WINTER is gearing up to unveil the new album Seagrave on July 21st. Fusing thundering heavy rhythms with haunting choirs and dynamic electronic textures, the new offering unleashes a powerful wall of sound.

"Get ready for my latest NUCLEAR WINTER album - Seagrave. With a deliberate focus on heavier sounds and a simpler approach to songwriting, Seagrave isn't just about pure aggression. This album also showcases a bigger incorporation of choir elements that help add an epic dimension to the sound. The result I feel is a step forward from my previous work." - Gary Stautmeister

Seagrave is a voyage through darkening realms, carrying a sombre mood across the album. Opening with "The Glimmering Landscape", this track is about leaving a hopeless place, but will the new place be any better? "Starward Longing" explores how things in life don’t work out as one had hoped while "Fates Mysteries" focuses on the frustrations of trying to achieve something but bad luck keeps getting in the way. The following track "Thy Shadows Fall" shows how trying times can eventually wear a person down and "The Grave is Wide" uses imagery of an ocean storm that represents difficult and trying times in life. "The Dusk and the Song" sees a shift in the mood, with a contradictory notion of feeling a sense of peace surrounded by a dark desolate place. Nostalgia over an old memory is the meaning behind the penultimate "Pale Memories", before the concluding "Black Waters" ends on the dark news of a loved one being lost at sea.

About NUCLEAR WINTER

Hailing from Zimbabwe, Gary Stautmeister began NUCLEAR WINTER in 2013 and released their debut EP The Void in the same year. The melodic/industrial death metal project takes inspiration from an array of bands including the likes of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, WINTERSUN, RAMMSTEIN and LORNA SHORE, to name a few. NUCLEAR WINTER thrives on producing hard hitting metal with a well-balanced fusion of electronics. The new album sees the project's sound develop venturing into more cinematic realms.

NUCLEAR WINTER RELEASE "GREYSTONE"

PRESS RELEASE:

Nuclear Winter

Greystone

MMD Records

21 May 2021

After the success of his previous EP "Stormscapes" Zimbabwean one man metal band NUCLEAR WINTER is set to unleash "Greystone" in May 2021.

Band mastermind Gary Stautmeister commented "I'm very happy to have completed this new album titled Greystone. I was aiming to produce something heavy but also more electronic than my previous EP. It was quite challenging mix-wise because each song uses a slightly different sound on the drums/bass/guitars, but I feel the overall production is an improvement from my previous work, and the songs are now hopefully more distinct from each other. I especially like Corridor of Shells - which is about a battle in which the surrendering army brings shame to their country."

NUCLEAR WINTER TO RELEASE "THE CORRIDOR OF SHELLS"

PRESS RELEASE:

One-man Zimbabwean melodeath project Nuclear Winter is excited to share the new single "The Corridor of Shells."   Fresh off his July 2020 EP Stormscapes, mastermind Gary Stautmeister says, "I'm pleased to release this song which comes from a new album I'm working on. This song is about the aftermath of a battle and uses the Japanese idea that retreating/surrendering brings shame to their country."

Nuclear Winter's cover of "What Is Love" was featured on MetalSucks this April, gaining this underdog project international notoriety.   Stormscapes garnered positive attention as well; as Distorted Sound put it, "This is a very powerful release and indicates a bright future for Nuclear Winter."  The upcoming single is sure to continue Nuclear Winter's forward march!

"Corridor of Shells" will be available on November 23rd
