Ethos is a deeply personal musical endeavor that blends the raw, ethereal vibe of atmospheric black metal with the haunting, melancholic tones of neo-classical darkwave. Inspired by the rich mythology of the Viking North, this project weaves together musical strands with resonance of folk and Celtic influences.

Rather than adhering to the templates of any single genre, Ethos follows its own path through the amalgamation of styles. The music evokes images of windswept landscapes and echoes the lament of the ancient Norse perspective.

The music samples, created with the assistance of AI, were assembled into complete tracks and then edited and mastered to produce cohesive songs.

Neo-Classical Band AUTUMN TEARS Reveals The Glow Of Desperation

After the highly acclaimed 2020 double album The Air Below The Water, AUTUMN TEARS is thrilled to present their newest offering The Glow of Desperation, featuring 64 minutes of brand new music, presented as a limited CD and digital download. 

"To put it simply enough, the theme of the album to be construed is that sometimes we get so desperate that it actually manifests into luminescence. All of the songs actually deal With some form of hope and desperation."

This is the latest Dargaard album and it seems to be the last part of the saga of Eternity that started with "Eternity Rites". Here again the songs are extremely well composed and they seem to be from a movie soundtrack (specifically from a movie about ancient warriors and ancient times). Full of keyboards and orchestrations, Daargard´s music is the perfect vehicle to manifest the feelings contained in the lyrics done by Tharen. Elisabeth´s vocals are darker than ever and they are one of the main points around which the tracks are developed. People who likes good composition and dark melodies will definitely love this one. Here we have Dargaard´s first recording. This debut CD´s music can be described as atmospheric and ethereal. Eleven extremely subtle tracks are what you will find here...they are full with keyboards, melodies and harmonies. Sang Drax Tharen and Elisabeth Toriser are the two persons behind Dargaard´s music and they make an excelent job: Sang Drax creating all the music and the lyrics and Elisabeth with her really beautiful voice. The music can be described also as ancient and dark because of the types of melodies used here which are sad and introspective. A great ethereal release is the one we have here !! Wounded Love Records have released this great recording comprised of thirteen climatic and orchestral tracks. We have keyboards, violins, bagpipes, clean guitars... everything is used in a sort of dark folk fashion...and that is how I would like to describe the sound of Dark Sanctuary: orchestral dark folk music. I have to speak about the amazing vocals of Marquise Ermia, because they are amazing...I think this woman must have trained herself a lot to reach those perfect pitched melodies, full of inflexions and to get this amazing vocal technique. In fact her voice is close in range to the one of the great Kari Rueslåtten but here Marquise Ermia harmonizes her vocals in the choruses parts in a darker way. This is a CD for fans of climatic music and of music done by people who know how to compose. Favorite tracks: "Le Paradis Noir", "Cet Enfer au Paradis" and " Les Entrailles de ce Purgatoire". REVIEW: DREAMCHILD - LA FEE VERTE

 DREAMCHILD - LA FÉE VERTE (Independent - 2000): An a capella female voice opens this record with a short song called "The Stolen Child" that takes us to the spectacular "La Fée Vertewith Cheryl Wanner´s voice getting into each space of your soul, thanks to her power of expression. Dreamchild is a duo formed by Cheryl on vocals, harp, bass and kalimba and, Frank Gerace on guitars. The result is an introspective work with a permanent search for climatic textures. Through all the songs we can see the combination of instrumentation and the diferent states of mind that the songs transmit, ("Capacochea" for example transmits to me something like desolation, while "Nimueis a more dynamic song with some percussive touches). Dreamchild is a really creative outfit with a music that we can describe as céltic/experimental/ambient…something original!!! The distinctive element are Cheryl´s vocals full of inflexions (to give you an idea is like a mix between Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance), Björk and Francesca Nicoli (Ataraxia). I hope to listen more from this duo in the future because they caught my atention from the beginning to the end of this CD. REVIEW: MIDNIGHT SYNDICATE - GATES OF DELIRIUM

 

MIDNIGHT SYNDICATE - GATES OF DELIRIUM (Entity Prods. - 2001): The music that Midnight Syndicate developes can be called the soundtrack of a very dark and atmospheric horror movie, because this is the way they are composing now. "Gates of Delirium" is Midnight Syndicate´s fourth recording and is really amazing! The concept of this CD is the story of a madhouse from last century called Haverghast Asylum. The compositional skills of Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka are very mature and they are emphasizing the textures and atmospheres through all the albums with a load of keyboards and samplers. Plus there are voices from the characters of the story that really transport the listener into Haverghast Asylum. Twenty one great gothic and dark songs/passages composethis recording where I would point out the magnificence of "Haverghast Asylum" with its sad melody, the persecution like atmosphere in "Halls of Insurrection" or the orchestration grandeur in "Residents Past". The whole album is really amazing an they have become one of my favoirte bands because of their musical and compositional skills. This is an album to listen with the lights out and letting your imagination flow.
