Eis um trabalho que poderia ter entrado efetivamente na minha lista de 20 melhores de 2015, mas acabou apenas rapidamente citado, pois como chegou já no final do ano, não havia tido tempo de ir além de uma rápida audição (que foi suficiente para chamar em muita minha atenção).

Os gaúchos do Distraught estão a 30 anos na estrada, sempre batalhando em prol do Thrash Metal e Locked Forever é seu 6º trabalho de estúdio. E olham certamente é o melhor de todos até então. Sua música soa pesada, agressiva, enérgica e com uma pegada bem atual, se distanciando das bandas que preferem investir em uma sonoridade Old School.

Os vocais urrados de André Meyer estão excelentes, com boa variedade, enquanto a dupla Everton Acosta e Ricardo Silveira é responsável por despejar ótimos riffs e solos. Já Nelson Casagrande (Baixo) e Mauricio Weimar (Bateria) formam uma parte rítmica muito técnica, pesada e diversificada.

Locked Forever é baseado no livro Holocausto Brasileiro, de Daniela Arbex, que trata das atrocidades ocorridas no manicômio Colonia, em Barbacena (MG) e que gerou outro grande álbum em 2015, Mea Culpa, do Saint Spirit. O resultado disso são letras fortes e que combinam com o instrumental agressivo da banda. Aliás, fica aqui a ótima indicação de leitura.

Dentre as composições, destaco aqui “Between The Walls of Colonia”, “Lost”, “Locked Forever”, “Dehumanized” (com participação do baterista do Hibria, Eduardo Baldo), “Brazilian Holocaust” (participação de Ezequiel Catalano, do Witchour) e “The Blind Vision of the Enemy”. O trabalho também conta com a participação especial de Estevan Prieto, na harmônica, em “The Last Trip”.

Na produção, o quinteto se cercou de nomes competentes. Na produção, Renato Osório, na mixagem, Benhur Lima, ambos do Hibria e na masterização, Adair Daufembach. Um trio de peso que deixou Locked Forever no mesmo nível que qualquer produção de ponta que escutamos por aí. Já a apresentação, o Cd vem embalado em um digipack caprichado, adornado por uma bela capa feita por Marcelo Vasco.

Um álbum viciante, feito por uma banda que encontra em seu auge criativo e que pode facilmente ser colocado entre os melhores trabalhos de Thrash já lançados no Brasil. Se prepare, pois seu pescoço vai ficar moído. E repito, só não entrou na lista de melhores de 2015 por ter chegado tardiamente.
