NFD really did want to sound exactly like Fields of the Nephilim from the time around their 1988 second album Nephilim. The vocals sound the same, the bass sounds the same (it's even Tony Pettitt from FOTN playing) and Peter Yates was drafted in to provide his trademark guitar sound on the title track. What’s not to like?? Peter ‘Bob’ White is the man behind/responsible for NFD and I guess you could blame Tony Pettitt for the essence of FOTN lurking in the background, but that’s not what we’re here for. Break The Silence is the debut release by the now near legendary NFD. It sets their standard out as the title bearers of Goth Rock in the 00’s. NFD was formed when the last Fields of the Nephilim reunion fell apart after the "Fallen" album sessions ended in 2002. Tony Pettitt joined NFD with drummer Simon Rippin, formerly of Sensorium, and Simon's former bandmate in Sensorium vocalist/guitarist Peter 'Bob' White. What they created was a Goth rock drama capped with one of the most incredible, spellbinding guitar solos you will ever hear.
