Short-lived (1983 – 1984) English new wave duo Intaferon,
consisting of Simon Fellowes and Simon Gillham, were signed to Chrysalis
Records. The boys are best known for their single, “Get Out Of London”
(produced by Martin Rushent) although they did release two other singles (“Steamhammer
Sam” and “Baby Pain”), but never released an album. “Get Out Of London” is
still occasionally heard in bizarre places, such as in a Mary Kate & Ashley
Olsen movie Winning London, as well as a cover by The Pretenders in the movie
version of "The Wild Thornberrys". The channel 4 show Max Headroom often
featured videos of their singles but they failed to get any media or sales
traction. The band broke up and the Simons went their separate ways.
Simon Fellowes embarked on a solo career, releasing two
further albums as Simon F and later, several one-off 12’’ singles and an album
under the name F-Machine. Having spent a decade in the USA he returned to the
UK where he worked as a Film/TV director and screenwriter. He is now a published
author. His debut novel ‘Don't Breathe the Air’ (Strata Books) was published in
Oct 2013. It is set in the seedy underbelly of the rock'n'roll business in 90s'
London and LA and is the first in his Hollywood trilogy. ‘My Name is Ferdinand’
(Strata Books) and ‘10 Dead Mexicans’ complete the trilogy.
Simon Gillham gained a BA and an MA in Philosophy and
undertook a PhD on Nietzsche, then embarked on a career as a Philosophy
lecturer. In 2015, he formed the band 'Used To', releasing several singles.
