Homework assignment

for week 3 with the girls over the ditch at CPC - it's time for an OTP - for those not in the know ... that means ... off the page ... lol.

and off the page it is ... we had to cover a box and make at least three handmade floral embellishments. I have made a tissue flower and used two different glimmermist sprays, a ribbon and tulle flower [which I think it super duper cute] and a lollipop flower and I've covered my box with BG paper. I've used a whole heap of pearls and a whole lot inking an I mean some serious inking is going on here.

To gain an extra 10 points we had to make an album and I pulled out the Cricut, yep, you heard me right ... first time I've used my Cricut for absolutely ages ... it took me over a bleedin' hour to find my brand spanking new, unopened, cutting mat to boot ... not a happy camper that it took that long to find it though. So I cut out card shapes [like playing cards], grabbed the ink, alpha stamps, a little more BG paper, flowers, ribbon, pearls and tulle and went for it.

Love the way it all came together to be honest ... I think it looks so darn cute.

It's not my wedding anniversary until August, so I'm more than a little organised, just for a change - lol.

On that note ... gonna love you and leave you ... I feel a little more creativity coming on.
Keep warm and dry.

Still ...

inhaling stuff, sniffing stuff, swallowing stuff to make me feel better ...

but I can actually talk a whole lot better today and I'm not quite as husky as I have been the last couple of days ... but it's taking a while to lose the bugs and I'm over myself to be honest.

Must be getting a whole lot better though ... cos I've spent an hour so far in my scrap haven today. Now heading out to the kitchen to stuff the chook for tonight's tea and then I'm heading back into my messy room to play again, oops ... that should read ... to be a little creative!!!

Will share soon ... well it's more than a little gloomy outside, so might wait for the photo opportunity until tomorrow ... surely this overcast sky is going to disappear sometime soon. It's a horrible drizzly mess out ... not much good for anything to be honest ... just a bleedin' nuisance.

Wrap up warm people.

Injury cloud ...

I arrived home a little later than normal last night from work to find N sitting on my lazy boy chair with a wheat bag around his neck.

I start asking questions ... what have you done, how did you do it, when ... type thing ... getting answers from this young fella at times is worse than pulling teeth - I'm not joking. I got grunts, funny looks and not a helluva lot of anything else. How hard is it to answer your Mother for goodness sake lad?!?!?!

Cut a long story short ... he hits the rugby paddock on Monday's and Thursday's after school. He tackles hard most of the time. Yesterday his neck collided with another's knee or elbow ... he's not sure which. Looks like he came off second best this time around.

I eat tea, thinking to myself he should be down at the hospital getting checked out. I ring the hospital, get changed and we're gone.

He who was sitting in my lazy boy chair barely moving his neck had the cheek to say to me as we get to the hospital ... it's a bit OTT Mum ... my comment to him ... if I found out in a couple of days that there was a fracture of any sort what sort of Mum would I be ... I would never forgive myself, I've only got one son and I want it sorted tonight. Who's the adult here ...

He shut up!!!

2 1/2 hours later [ish] we're back home, he's been checked out, x-rayed ... he's definitely had a strain, nothing fractured, take it easy, pain killers and a few sessions at the physio.

Rugby and necks give me the heebie-jeebie and sometimes just scare me shitless - excuse the expression. I shudder just thinking about it.

He is booked in at the physio on Thursday morning.

And something else ... just cos I can ...

Sunday I woke up with a snotty nose, I mean, running tap material - yeah I know ... too much information - ROFLMAO. I went to work yesterday and progressively got worse throughout the day and then a trip down to the hospital last night - wasn't a good look really - lol ... didn't have a good night last night, when I finally woke this morning, my throat felt like razor blades, ummmmmmmmm ... my nose was still disgusting and I thought to myself, not going anywhere fast. Needless to say I didn't put in an appearance at work today. A truly snotty nose and a husky voice isn't a good look really.

So I'm inhaling stuff, sniffing stuff, swallowing stuff, trying to make things dry up and go away as fast as possible.

I plan on heading to work tomorrow and I'm guessing I will be sharing my germs - sorry!!!

Anyway, that's it from me ... I'm done, heading upstairs with a book.

P.S. before I sign off ... welcome to the mainland Trace ... wrap up warm buddy - I'm sure that you are going to have bits that have never felt the cold before ... lol!!!

I'm going back to school

for the next 12 weeks with the girls at Country Papercraft [over the ditch].

My homework assignment for week one ... I had to scrap vintage style and yep, that means a little distressing, yep I can handle that, a little inking, well that's something else I can handle, a little scrunching, a little ripping; like I have problems with any of that - not!!!

I've used Kaiser papers and a Jenni Bowlin paper as well. I grabbed another scallop paper and used it as a template, cut out this one, used my hole punch, a little distressing and a little inking, well lots of inking actually - two colours, burgundy and pine cone. Inner circle was cut out, inked and distressed - no kidding and I've used tattered leather glimmermist on top of this one ... I printed out the words to Country Roads on vellum and scrunched and glimmermisted that as well. Photo printed off in sepia, sanded around the edges and used inks as well. Popped on a couple of Prima flowers, a ribbon, brad, twill and cut out and curled leaves. I've also used a Prima journalling spot, ripped in half, handjournalled on the scroll, inked and tied and little alphas. Ripped and sewn with twine as well.

So a whole lot going on ...

With a little help from Dad I can tell you ... the two storey part of the house was the main part of the house when it was old. Directly behind the two storey part was a lean-to that contained the kitchen and dining room. The two storey part was rebuilt with the original logs and the part to the right was added as well as a new part where the kitchen was. It was new construction but from old logs from a log house they tore down ...

So there you have it.

Layout has definitely grown on me ... wasn't too sure about it to start off with ... but quite like it now.

Right then ... I'm away to check the dryer, reload the washing machine and then I just might head into my scrap haven.

Mr and Mrs ...

Duck ... yep, they were waddling down the road yesterday ... so they made it safely through opening weekend. Mr Duck must have listened to me - ROFLMAO ...

I gave them a wave and carried on my merry way to work.

Complete change of topic ... I'm going to mention two words ... 'murder house' ... and yep, I'm thinking that those two words are going to bring back a few memories for a lot of you.

Those two words have been playing on my mind now for nearly a week. Why ???

Cos last week I bit into a stick of chewing gum and within a few chews I had crunchy bits. I thought to myself ... what the ???

Chewed a little more and you guessed it, crunchy bits again ... OMG ... this wasn't good!!! Just quietly.

I rang the dentist and made it known to them that crunchy bits should not be in my chewing gum - lol.

I went to the dentist yesterday.

Now that's a whole lot of days to have little crunchy bits when you shouldn't have any wee crunchy bits ... so yep siree, I could stick my tongue in that hole people - OMG that sounds gross ... but I was like a wee kid ... they have a sticking plaster on ... you tell them to leave it there and not play with it and don't take it off, it will lose its stickiness ...

Come on ... we know these things ... they don't!!!

I. COULD. NOT. HELP. MYSELF!!! that tongue kept doing the swishy thing over that back tooth ... in the end it was quite smooth, even if I do say so myself.

So yesterday there was the dreaded trip to the 'murder house' ... DH has always referred to the dentist as the 'murder house' ... I now know why ...

I could have murdered the bleedin dentist ... it is SO. NOT. NATURAL. to have people poking around in there, let alone put needles and drills in there ... I mean come on !!! I have the biggest fear of needles and I mentioned to the dentist DO. NOT. SHOW. ME. THE. NEEDLE. otherwise the needle will NOT be going in my mouth today and I would be back another day.

I was somewhere around 38 before I had my first adult filling and it was a teenie tiny one ... that same tooth was drilled and refilled two years ago and trust me on this one, it definitely was NOT a teenie tiny one ... I'm sure he filled the whole tooth.

And I'll have you know, I've had a few problems with that very same tooth ever since ...

Yesterday it was the turn of the tooth beside that one, my very back one. I left to go to work and DH pipes up ... have fun at the 'murder house' ... I gave him the evils and left for work.

So, the dentist man did his thing, there is a hole no more.

I went to leave the dental surgery, before I did, I made an appointment to visit next week, to have a clean and a check ... hopefully I will leave the dental surgery next week with fonder memories than the ones I hold from my trip yesterday.

On that note, heading into my scrap haven to play a little. My desk is covered in a bleedin' mess and I've right now decided that I am going to create a layout with stuff currently on my desk and nothing else - mind you, in saying that ... I've probably got enough stuff on there for about a dozen layouts ... it's a case of working my way through the rubble.

Check this out

Well it's National Scrapbooking Day in the USA and for a few of us downunder, we've made a weekend of it ... so hope that you have all found time to be a little creative. I know I have ... been a little creative that is.

I was reading Lynda's post before and you lot know that me and linky things aren't a happening thing, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't ... but if you go here Kenner Road and check out their blog ... woo hoo, someone, well lots of someones are in for some gorgeous new scrappy product ... very generous and ladies you have to be in to win.

Check it out.

Good luck.

This time ...

Photobucket

Still being creative ...

Whipped this one up ... my challenge with the girls over the ditch at Country Papercraft ...

To use [raspberry] pink, light blue, green, white, yellow, a quote and 3 circles ... well let me tell you I cringed big time at the mention of yellow. Thought to myself *shit*, yellow ... crikey - grabbed my water colour pencils - well to be honest, it wasn't really grabbed, I had to hunt for them, they were shall we say ... buried ... and I used yellow on a Prima flower and then the penny dropped ... duh !!! yellow buttons - so then out came the button jars ... lol!!!

I've used one of Kobi Yamada's 'she' quotes, covered the circles criteria, well that was never going to be hard for me - ROFLMAO and the rest of the colours - yep, could handle them ... so there you have it ...

Love it ...

Now a little housework, shouldn't think of it like that really ... but better whip that lux around and then I might just head back into that scrap haven of mine.

Hope you have managed to find a little 'me' time and scrapped a little.
Enjoy your Sunday people.

go and have a nosey and find out more ... go on ... you know you want to ...

Ewwwwhhhh ... not fair ... why won't my blinkie work on my blog ... it does when you click on the link ... but I want it to work right here, right now !!!

Standing here with my hands on my hips ... shaking my head ...

Watch it ... I will throw a tanty!!!!

HELP!!!

Scrappin Patch

The girls at Scrappin Patch have a weekly challenge at the moment ... to KISS ... and nope ... that's not KISS as in kiss with two people either, just quietly..

It's KISS ... keep it simple scrapbooking ...

So my first layout is a KISS layout ... trust me on this one ... it's definitely a KISS'd layout ...

But I wasn't happy with it - so after taking the photo of my layout and submitting it to their gallery, I just had to tweak it a little before I put it away ...

and it's my layout, so I can - so there!!! LOL

So I have just tweaked a little bit ... not much, just a little ...

I have added a little Prima Christmas floral cluster and a button, a little bling and then I did a little paper curling and made a frame to go around my cardstock ... a frame within a frame I guess ... and now I am a much happier scrapper. LOL!!! And I'm now more than happy to file my layout away.

Right then, onwards and upwards ... National Scrapbooking Day ... well in our case International Scrapbooking Day - for the whole weekend downunder ... lol.

My first layout is done based on a sketch with the girls at Country Papercraft across the ditch ... go and have a nosey ... lots of challenges ... some of them will really make you think a little ... have fun!!!!

It's the weekend ... woo hoo !!!

Another working week, done and dusted ... now it's time to play a little, be a little creative, well hopefully, be creative a lot - lol!!!

One more sleep and the boys will be doing their thing ... ya know ... the male bonding thing ... well to be honest, it won't really be one more sleep for them ... they will probably spend the majority of the night awake ... clock watching ... lol!!!

Yep, some of you may well have guessed what I'm going on about ... the male bonding thing is going to be happening on duck ponds around the region, around the country.

It's opening weekend people. Let the mad camouflaged duck shooters do their thing and safely, I might add, just quietly.

Most of you know that I have befriended Mr and Mrs Duck locally ... and I'll have you know that I shot outside this morning, froze my patootie - we had a cracker frost and it was bitterly cold ... I grabbed a panini bread and talked to Mr and Mrs Duck whilst feeding them. I tried to explain to Mr Duck that he had to look after Mrs Duck, they were only allowed to walk the neighbourhood for the next wee while, no flying allowed ... Mr Duck kept looking at me in between checking that Mrs Duck was still filling her belly and keeping an eye on what I was doing as well.

It must have looked so comical and the neighbours must have thought that I had totally lost the plot ... but we won't go there!!!

So on that note ... enjoy your weekend ... I'm going to check out some of the challenges for inernational scrapbooking day.

Keep warm.
M

P.S. bang ... bang ... they shot them down ... bang ... bang!!!

How about another one ...

Hi there and welcome back. Yep, I'm on a roll. I realised that I hadn't shared this layout - another one ... White, green and orang...
