Playdate Thursday

I'm on Playdate Thursday duties this week in the Flying Unicorn forum and this week I'm going to share something a little bit Christmassy.

Don't shoot me down - around the world some of my friends are having mid-year Christmas functions and that said, meet one of my new friends.

Let me introduce to you my friend, Mr Snowman.

My friend started life as two polystyrene balls.

Those balls have been covered with glue, sprinkled with glitter then I have grabbed a paintbrush and stippled 'True Snow' all over them and then I have randomly applied Prima - Finnabair - mica flakes.

My snowman needed to have a hat.

Take one plain ol' brown paper bag.  Open and fold up at least three times from the open end and scrunch a little.

When you are happy with the shape, grab a paintbrush and some black paint and apply to make yourself a black top hat.

Voila ...

Okay, so I got carried away a little and forgot the camera.

But it's now time to 'dress' your snowman.

I dug deep and found some bling brads  - my snowman friend is a true blue eyed friend - lol.

Found another couple of teal brads and popped them in his body.

I shot outside with my scissors and cut some branches from a rose bush for the arms and another piece for his nose.

Grabbed my make up bag and blusher and added a little colour to his cheeks.

Cut a strip of burlap/mesh for his scarf and wound round his neck and tucked another brad through to secure to head.

He really is cuter than these pics show you to be honest.

I found a star and attached to his hand.

Cut out a couple of words and adhered to star.

Thinking along the lines, well it's Christmas and wish upon a star.

I added a little more True Snow on his hat, nose and scarf to blend him in a little more.

***

Now when I was out and about shopping recently I came across a real bargain
 - at a whole $0.27 on sale - I found this candle stick holder.

with a coat of gesso ...

OMG, now I can't find the pics that I need - oops.

And I did take pics, I know I did.

That white covered monstrosity ended up a lovely shade of red and even had a coating of crackle.

Well it is now buried somewhere under all that greenery,
those white baubles and those berries and the lights.

But I promise you that it is there, honest!!!

My friend Mr Snowman is sitting atop.

So there you have it.

My friend Mr Snowman.

Happy creating everyone.

Feeling the blues ...

Sometimes when you are creating and you know you have deadlines, well sometimes you just go off on a wee tangent.  Just because you can.

Yep, that was me last night, but have to say that I love what I created and it all just came together and just like that.

It truly did.

and yes, you should know that you are going to have a close up or two

or three or four

and just because I can ...

The colours are gorgeous ...

and everything just pops with a little black

and again in its entirety
