Eye candy

quite like that term. Here's what I have been playing around with lately ... time for show and tell.

I paid a lot of money for this scrapping album years ago ... $50, I kid you not and it has remained empty. I think I bought it after our first trip to the big ol' US of A and that was back in 2001, quit possibly a few years after that though in all honesty ... crikey. But that's still a while ago. Well it's not empty any longer ... I've put the following two layouts in there ... woo hoo ... it's a start.

Although I just noticed right then, I still have yet to do the jurnalling on this one ...

Now I really like the way that I have put this together - a little bit of this and a little bit of that ... not like me at all. But I've done a few layouts a little differently lately and like the effect.

I've collected quite a collection of American bits and bobs which I'm sure will feature of plenty of pages in the upcoming months.

And then I've put this one together. Used the dry embossing with my rather neglected Cuttlebug. A Christmas present which has now had its second outing and I love it ... this one is for the celebrity challenge with the girls at the Sketchbook ... woo hoo. Talk about thinking outside the square and doing something out of the norm ...

I'm actually going to flick this one to Scrap the Teenz - as it comes under the special birthday celebration theme they currently have on their blog as well.

I had a real play with this one. Used some new papers that were just being unpacked at Inkspiration last week, a little chipboard, I think it is Cosmo Cricket, a little hand sewing, throw in a little hand journalling, a flower and there you have it. Oops, forgot that I used my water thread punch thingymajig as well.

My hand journalling reads : Where have the years gone? Look at you all grown up. We may have had our differences over the years but never forget that you are my baby girl and I love you. Always and for ever. With love, Mum x

It took me ages to figure out a way to put my hand journalling on this layout and I like the way the whole page looks. I actually really like the whole thing.

Right then, on that note, had better disappear. The lux is still sitting in the kitchen and it's not going to work sitting there all by itself. A litle input is required ... that would be moi!!!

Enjoy your Sunday afternoon everyone.

M

and it's Wednesday ...

which means it's another woo hoot Wednesday ... the weeks just roll around far too quickly. So not only is Wednesday hump day, it's also woo hoot Wednesday!!!

So on my list today ...

A big woo hoot today ... I received a courier parcel of scrapping goodies from the ladies at Scrappin Patch - rang the courier this morning and had them drop it off to me at work ... and I'm gonna have some fun playing with that, let me tell you.

As well as my goodies that I had ordered, I also received a RAK which I won last weekend ... so thank you very much ladies. That's another woo hoot - more goodies to play with - oops be creative with I should say - lol.

I can also woo hoot my creativity this week as well. I've whipped up a couple of cards, can't share them tho, sorry ... played with Cogsmo Cricket - and they have already been given to the recipients. Completely forgot about the camera - oops!!! Shame on me.

Last night I started playing with a layout and I truly mean 'playing'. I grabbed the Glimmermist [Pearl] and played a little with it on paper ... time will tell to see if I actually use it ... but we will see, must go and have a look to see what it turned out like.

Tonight I plan on playing a little more and hopefully I will actually find time to play with my neglected Cuttlebug ... one go in six months is a bit sad really and I admit it ... so tonight's the night.

And a final woo hoot ... I'm not going out anywhere tonight and I can stay home in the warmth ... cos it aint a pleasant night out there tonight people here in the deep south. It is BITTERLY cold ... there must be snow in them there hills. It certainly feels like that to me.

So on that note, have a good night, keep warm and if you are being creative, hope Mr Mojo is sitting on your shoulder.

Take care,
M

About time I blogged again ...

time just disappears on me these days and there are truly not enough hours in the day. Someone keeps bleedin' stealing them on me I tell ya ...

I whipped up this layout this afternoon even though I had a visitor and watched PS I Love You ... it's not too often I sit down and watch a movie/TV these days. But I must admit I enjoyed it and at times cried my little heart out ... a right little cry baby I was!!!

So here it is.

I loosely used the sketch that Shell had up on her blog for Scrapbook Dreams. Not quite how I was expecting it to look, but I do like it nonetheless although my night-time photography leaves a lot to be desired. I really like this one in real life, the colours are definitely not as sharp as they should be on the photo of this layout ... but that's what happens when you leave things till the last minute. Deadline was 6.00 pm and I emailed my layout through around 5.50 pm - talk about cutting it fine - ROFLMAO.

The papers, blossoms, everything on the layout came from a kit that I purchased ages ago from the ladies over the ditch at Country Papercraft ... they also have a challenge when you purchase a kit whereby you use only the ingredients in the kit and put together your creative masterpiece ... and guess what, there's no stitching [okay it was close - lol], no bling, no extras ... I must say that I was truly tempted, but I thought I would just see if I could do it without anything else ... and I can.

Actually I could have loaded it for the weekend challenge on the Sketchbook forum as well - used blossoms, strips and polka dots ... but I'm happy with it being in Shell's gallery - well I think that's where she will put it - lol.

And just after tea I whipped up this card for the weekend challenge on the Sketchbook forum ... blossoms - check, strips - check and I have used my water threading punch, polka dots - check - have a look at the brad and at a squeeze you could also count the dots on the dice ... lol. Well sometimes you just have to think outside the square.

I have also whipped up another two layouts this weekend as well - but I've mucked up enough layouts and photos tonight ... so these ones might just have to wait until next weekend ... we will see.

And so another weekend passes us by and we only have a few hours to go until a new working wee is underway ... I wish the weekend thief would leave me alone ... someone is stealing my weekend time I'm sure of it ... they disappear on me, just like that.

So on that note ... enjoy your evening people, keep warm and dry.
Later,
M

P.S. Mom and Dad if you read this post, it was great talking to you both yesterday
--- love you.

and it's Wednesday

again and it's time to woo hoot!!!!!

Where shall we begin ... there would be those that would say at the beginning of course!!! huh!!!!

Monday I went to visit the massage therapist and trust me on this one ... when I left I was doing more than a little woo hooting ... I could walk normally. Okay, so it lasted for a few hours and I was more than a little sore when I went to bed on Monday night ... but things look like they are on the mend. I go back again for another appointment next Monday ... counting down the days here people. Yesterday and today - the morning was really good, but as the day was disappearing, as in the later it got in the day, it was more than a little on the painful side. But I'm coping. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Don't ask me to explain too much exactly what it is ... but in a nutshell ... the pelvic joint in my back / butt ... whatever, everything around it has been totally wrenched and is now bleedin' painful. All sorts of do's and don'ts for me at the moment ... but that's okay, for the most part I'm being very good.

Another woo hoot ... which is going to cost me money ... the quotes are in for new nets and tracks in the office, a net for the front door and today we were measured and quoted for the new blind in the dining room ... now on order. Now this is going to do some damage to the scrapping slush fund over the next few months ... darn!!!! Longer than that actually if I am being honest!!! But I'm more than happy to pay a little [well lots really] for some more privacy. Everything should be here and up by the end of July. Before then would be good, in fact it would be absolutely marvellous. But it's now underway. A very expensive exercise though.

Another woo hoot ... the last couple of days I have been taking a few OTP projects to work with me, along with paint brushes and paint ... there is now a few work in progress OTPs lying around - ROFLMAO ... they will get finished though - promise.

Last night I also dug out a pad of papers to use for some of my layouts from when I took Nathan to America ... ummmmmmmmmm ... just over two years ago - lol. Okay, these things take time ... so I thought slowly but surely I would start having a play. Might do double page layouts ... well not really - side by side layouts using similar products might be a better way of doing it ... IYKWIM. Lots of pics, something along the lines of ... a snapshot of ... [various places].

What else, before I go, just thought that I would share this little miss with you all ...

Isn't she a wee cutie ... my special wee friend ... little miss Paige ... yep, this is Meg's youngest daughter. She is absolutely delightful, a wee darling. So if Mummy shows you this wee pic of you sweetie ... Shell is sending you a big hug. Hope you are being good.

On that note ... I've got to be good and go and put some 'stuff' away in my scrap room and that's all I will say on the subject - read between the lines.

Night,
M

There's more ...

I was talking to Danz on Friday and said that I needed some more pics of her ... she said yep, would be over at some stage during the weekend.

Ran into her on Saturday afternoon ... no pics ... hair wasn't right - lol. She texted me later, early evening and said she was on her way.

Took heaps of pics, although the lighting wasn't flash and many of them were shite photos to be honest.

But anyway today I popped out to Harvey Norman's to get some printed.

The challenge at Sketchbook - to use a black and white pic, the colour theme, black and white and one other colour ...

Here's mine :

Now to be fair, this layout doesn't look flash in this pic ... it really does look far better in real life. I had done the black stitching ages ago, in fact the night that I looked after the McKenzie clan and today I decided to dig deep and find said cardstock - which I eventually did. But these things take time - lol.

I then played ... used a little Prima [paper, flowers and lace], Teresa Collins paper as well, an MM journalling paper, I've also used my Fiskars threading water punch - woo hoo for one of them, alpha beads and light purple beads in my stitching and almost forgot - Kindyglitz. Loved the way that it all came together in the end. Wasn't quite how I imagined it would be ... but I'm still happy with the final result.

I forgot to take a pic of another layout as well ... but the lighting late this afternoon was more than a little crappy to be honest ... so I left it ... next time, perhaps!!!!

Before I forget ... check out this website ... cos I've got all these goodies heading this way ... ooh-la-la ... http://www.scarletlime.com [and cos I just so CAN'T do the linky thing, you will have to do the copy and paste thing to have a look - sorry] - I can only hope that the pigeon carrier has a tail wind, cos I'm looking forward to playing with this.

On that note, I'm outta here.
Enjoy your week everyone.
Later,
M

Time to share

and yep ... thought it was time to share a little creativity ... but before I do ... have a look at this ...

THE NOTE ...

Now may you never arrive home and find a note attached to your hard drive like that ... not nice.

And as I said on the previous post ... this was on the shopping list and purchased as a result of said note ... no way do I ever want to lose pics as a result of the hard drive going kaput.

Although I'm told that I should be keeping all my pics on both ... in case the external drive fails ... crikey ... I wish there was a complete fool proof method ... is there ???

And eye candy ... here's a couple of layouts ...

I love the way that this has come together and yep it is pretty busy ... but I love the colours. I can't take credit for quite a large portion of this tho ...Scrapbooking Memories had a layout with the papers and the ribbon idea and I loved it and thought to myself, yep I'm going to play a little with that idea and this is what I've come up with ...

Sewing machine came out for this one, a little hand sewing as well, hand journalling, a little Prima as well ... and there you have it ...

I put this one together of Russell as well a couple of weeks ago ... using the same range, threw in a little bling, lots of rub-ons ... and I do really like this one.

I actually put this layout together before I saw the SM layout ... and as a general rule I'm not a Scenic Route fan, but wow, this range is definitely me - it was buried in a box in my scrapping cupboard - typical.

Have I been creative this weekend - nope ... I truly haven't. Good intentions. A great weekend challenge with the girls at Sketchbook - using black and white pics, black and white and one other colour ... but I tell you what. I'm in serious pain ... my back is so sore ... I've got an appointment tomorrow afternoon with a massage therapist ... I'm kind of thinking I have really done something nasty to it. And yes, I plodded along during the week thinking to myself I've just tweaked something and it will get better on its own, just give it a day or two and it hasn't ... it's now worse. Where was the bleedin' crystal ball when I needed it?

On that note ... will go and throw a load of washing in the dryer and see if I feel like sitting down and being creative. These painkillers need to kick in first.

Later,
M

P.S. and OMG ... Dad, I forgot that it is Father's Day in your part of the world. Happy Father's Day from your daughter at the bottom of the world - sorry I forgot!!! Love you. xx

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Yep ...

it's Wednesday and it's that time of the week to do the woo hoot thing and I'm still woo hooting that I've got internet access.

It's not until something happens to ones internet connection that one misses it ... and I did and do big time.

Technology and I don't necessarily go hand in hand ... give me something that needs whipped up and yep, can do that ... but give me something wrong with the puta and I'm at a loss if it involves the innards and workings in the dark depths of the puta. I mean, hey, it's a bottomless pit in there people and unless you know what you are doing, you should stay clear ... DH ... are you reading this ... this applies to YOU as well my wee darling - ROFLMAO.

But any way I'm still woo hooting the computer and internet access thing and so very thankful that my 11,000 pics were found somewhere in the innards of said puta.

On the shopping list is a portable thingymajig and trust me on this one, it was way up HIGH on said shopping list, as in tomorrow ... tomorrow ... lol.

What else???

Yep, got mail today. A box of scrapping goodies arrived on my doorstep from across the ditch. Thanks Marg - all the way from Western Australia. Watch this space as I hope to have a play this weekend with some of the said goodies ... and something in there really appeals, that I haven't seen before ... not telling what - lol.

Got more mail to while I think about it ... an envelope of flowers to play with from the flower swap with the girls at The Sketch Book. Now I love my flowers and a girl can NEVER have too many flowers ... true!!!!

Had a consultant call out tonight to measure up and quote for curtains/drapes/blinds for a couple of windows in our house. I'm thinking that the quote may hurt a little, but privacy is privacy is privacy, IYKWIM.

And I can also woo hoot that my runny eyes, runny nose and stuff has gone ... I found a wonderful product that came recommended from the health shop down the road from work ... Viralex or something close to that rings a bell. Two capsules three times a day with meals ... brilliant. Some would think perhaps a little expensive, but only a few dollars more than a trip to the doctor ... and it's herbal. So I was rapt.

With having computer access back, DH has now reloaded camera software programme and I will take pics over the new few days and blog my latest creations ... absolutely stoked with all three layouts. One layout I can't take credit for ... I played around with a layout that was in one of the Scrapbooking Memories mags ... love it. But you are going to have to wait for show and tell my friends.

My second to last woo hoot, DH was home tonight and he cooked tea - peppered steak, onions, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and mixed veges ... thank you darling.

And my last woo hoot - I did something to my back on Monday - and yep, I'm okay!!!! Some of my work colleagues are pretty sure that I am walking around with something stuck in my rear end [excuse the expression and I can assure you that I am being polite] ... so a big huge woo hoot goes out to the makers of Deep Heat and DH ... cos I've needed both of them to get me through the last couple of days.

So on that note.
CYA, enjoy your night and I'm off to hide in that mess that I call a scrap room.

I'm back ...

how long for ... don't know that for sure ... until DH does something else to the puta ...

This isn't going to have the same effect really typed up like this ... I did take a pic, but actually can't find it atm.

M.

Don't turn computer on.
There is a problem.
SORRY. Babe.

Now I have a pic of said note which was taped to one hard drive last Tuesday when I got home from work.

A whole week without internet access at home ... how sad is that?!?!?!?!

Now it was different when we moved house, I knew that I wouldn't have access until things were set up. It was different when we were on holiday, cos other things got in the way of being on the computer ... cos like, you are on holiday - funny that!

But this was way different ... having no computer/internet access cos DH was playing around in areas that he had no right to play. Well fair enough he was downloading a newer version of Explorer [or something] ... but when all was said and done, something happened and he LOST everything.

I'm sure that I had major heart palpitations, something that I can do without, just quietly. All I kept thinking of was the photos ... why the photos??? Cos I was pretty sure that they hadn't been backed up since we moved house and wasn't sure how long before we moved house that a back up had been made.

I had reason for concern here people. I was NOT a happy camper.

But to cut a long story short, a work colleague of mine found said photos on Wednesday night, so a big thank you Martin ... good on ya mate.

Deep sigh of relief here, happy dance, whatever you want to call it, I was doing it ... I was absolutely stoked when he found them. I was told that there was in excess of 11,000 pics downloaded ... ummmmmmmm ... I'm also told that's quite a few.

On the shopping list in the next week or two ... one of those portable drive thingymajigs that you use just for photo storage and it's going to be all MINE!!!! Now I've been told that it isn't a fool-proof method ... but I'm thinking I'm going to be a little happier with another back up storage option and can you blame me ... NOPE!!!!!

So anyway, this is short and sweet, cos I've got some serious blog reading to be done.

So if you have been wondering why Mrs Frizz has been a little on the quiet side lately ... she was off line. But hey, that didn't mean to say that you couldn't send me any messages now ... cos you could have and that's all I will say on the subject.

Later people.
M

P.S. so I guess I'm woo hooting early ... again ... sorry angel!!! It's not Wednesday, but who knows, I might get to blog again on Wednesday ... if DH keeps his mitts off - LOL.

Oops ...

had better disappear into the kitchen and put the sewing machine away before DH gets some silly ideas ...

A sewer I am NOT!!!

CYA.
Me

Show and tell

and let's see what happens to my layouts today. They look okay, and guess what ... I've done absolutely nothing different than what I do every other time I upload ... grrrrhhhhhh ... so you aren't getting cricks in your necks today my friends. LOL.

I played with the girls over at Country Papercraft as they were having a cyber crop for the long weekend. There's no way that I will get all the challenges done, but I have put two layouts together.

You are the cocktail queen ... features DD ...

The challenge, to use 'you are' in the title, 3 pp, ribbon and lace and this is what I have come up with ... I really like the way that this has come together. Nice and bright and fun and funky. This looks way better in real life. I have used some of the new Kaiser papers to put this one together ... and just cos I could ... I added a little handsewing.

Next up ...

I have based this one on one of Trina's sketches from a couple of weeks ago. Wait for it ... I got the sewing machine out again ... shock, horror ... I DID!!!!

DH wanted to know what I had been sewing - lol.

The layout was to be about your home, had to have a little hand journalling, stamping, 2 pp and 3 circles.

Now I kid you not I had a few disasters with this layout ... it just about was NOT a happening thing. I got the paint out and found some bubblewrap and stamped under the photos, but wasn't overly happy with it. For a change I didn't use enough paint - lol, so I put the pics over the top, to cover most of it ... so my stamping was the date, my three circles, well they were going to be hand journalling, but wasn't happy with that, so they went under my cut out house for a bit of oomph and colour to my layout ... but truly, they are under there ... and then just because I could I put three little buttons [well they are like circles, right???] above my chimney ... all challenges are open to interpretation and a little bit of tweaking, that's why they are challenges and my hand journalling - come on in ...

So that's covered and this is what I put together ... although you probably looked straight at the pics before you read my blurb ... come on, I know these things ... I do it too ... and then you read through the blogging/journalling ... lol.

Right then, had better get back into it ... a little housework is calling.

Last night I unpacked about 10 boxes of this and that ... it took about an hour and a half, and so my kitchen bench is still covered in some things ... will this never end, the unpacking bit. One day, I hope to have a spare room ... not a room filled with boxes ... it will happen, these things take time.

On that note, time to go, hope you are enjoying your long weekend.
Keep warm
Later,
Me

P.S. I don't do it like that all the time, just sometimes - check out the eye candy first that is before I read through your blog posts - honest !!!!

Sunday, June 01, 2008

Sunday

already ... crikey ... the weekend is just about over and I haven't been very creative, output-wise.

I have put this layout together for the weekend challenge ...

I've just re-read the instructions ... One can always interpret the challenge in different ways ladies

In saying that, I had a blast with this layout. I've used Trina's weekly sketch as the base for my layout. I've used paint, hand sewing, sewing machine [yep, you read it right - a sewing machine and Mrs Frizz, so do NOT go hand in hand ;) ], transparencies, chip board. I've played a little with the 'holiday' as such. Pic was taken at home, after Nathan's primary school graduation, so technically he is on school holidays - lol - and to a child, if one is not at school, one is on holiday, plain and simple really 8-). The crown - prince of knowledge; and blue and gold feature on my layout as well.

OMG - you are all going to get cricks in your necks again ... why Blogger does this to me, I so DO NOT know nor do I understand ... this is crazy ... in fact it is p'ing me off and I'm being so polite.

DS has just gone passed and has seen this layout sitting in the office... made a comment along the lines ... you have still kept that photo, that was years ago ... I laughed at him and said of course

On that note, if I don't get my act together the weekend will be kaput and I won't have been too creative. Let's see what I can do - lol.

Hope you are all enjoying your long weekend.
Later,
M

How about another one ...

Hi there and welcome back. Yep, I'm on a roll. I realised that I hadn't shared this layout - another one ... White, green and orang...
