A card or two ...

yep, I was on the Tuesday tip this week over on the Kaisercraft blog ...

I've had a play with the Kaiser flowers that come in packets - three different mixed sizes, all the same colour ... and I even put together, the how to, to whip up these cards.

So ... what have I done ...

I’ve cut a piece of 6” x 12” cardstock and scored it in half.

I’ve selected four pieces of patterned paper from my 6.5” square pad – I’ve used the ‘Attitude’ pad for this card.

For my bottom layer, I’ve used one of the grid sheets and cut it slightly smaller than my cardstock.

I’ve used a paper piercer and pierced a hole every three squares all the way around my piece of paper and then added a little hand stitching and adhered it with double sided tape to my cardstock.

I’ve layered four pieces of border edging from the paper pad and I’ve also cut a strip from one of my pieces of paper – on my card, you can see that I have used the black and white spotted paper.

I’ve used metal dies and my Cuttlebug to cut leaves and flourishes.

For my flowers … I’ve grabbed five flowers for each floral cluster – so 15 flowers from the one packet of Kaisercraft flowers, I’ve used three of the 2.5 cm flowers, and two of the 3.5 cm flowers.

I’ve used my paper piercer and pierced a hole roughly in the middle of each of them.

I’ve used what I call a ‘bauble stamen’, I have to be honest and say, I have no idea what they are called though! I’ve popped it through the middle of one of the smaller flowers and then I have manipulated it [squashed] around the bauble stamen and then I have continued to layer them and squash with my finger tips, layer and squash and then I have folded the end of the stamen under my flower.

I’ve then layered my embellishment cluster, using the feathers, the flourishes and my flowers.

Added my mini alphas and voila. Just like that you have a cute card!

and a close up, just cos I can ...

Now, how about a card from the Miss Match collection ...

and a close up ... you know, cos I can - lol ...

Easy peasy, honestly ... these cards truly didn't take long to put together.

M.I.A.

Have to say ... definitely a case of missing in action ... did ya miss me?

Go on ... at least say that you did, just to make me feel a little bit better.

Wow, it's been so long since I last blogged.  Definitely not intentional.

Let's just say, a bad dose of the flu ... a really bad dose of the flu ... talk about aches and pains, throw in earache, a sandpaper throat, a nose that really was just like a tap that hadn't been turned off properly ... not a pretty picture people, truly.

May I never be struck down quite the way I was.

I have been totally miserable.

Have to say as well, that I'm definitely not running on all cylinders as yet either and it's not a nice feeling at all ...

Honestly, I wish I could kick these germie bugs goodbye, to another plant would be good ... I'm more than a little bit over myself to be honest and I'm nothing but honest.

So anyway, just thought I would pop in and say 'hi' and so that's what I am doing 'hi'.

I will be back.
Wrap up warm people,

Miss Match ...

Miss Match, a few flowers, a few baubles, a quote, gorgeous papers, a bird cage album, a little bling, a few punches, a little paint, well a whole lot of paint to be honest ...

and voila ...

and just because you have to have those close ups ...

and the last one ... and yes, that is a little dove sitting inside my bird cage ...

I wanted to have a play with this wee birdcage album but not use it to make an album that would be put away.  I wanted to make something that would sit on my shelf in my scrap room, so that I could look at it every day and that’s what I did.  I painted the front of the bird cage with three coats of paint and then dabbed distress crackle paint on top of the paint.  I then lightly sanded over the top  and repainted it with distress crackle paint.  I covered the back panel of my birdcage with some of the papers from the Miss Match collection.  I’ve then distressed and inked the edges of some of the papers, layered them at slight angles and printed off a quote.

I’ve used an HB pencil as I couldn’t find a piece of dowling while I was putting my project together.  Truly, an HB lead pencil.  I borrowed my husband’s hacksaw blade and cut it at the right lengths, I’ve then lightly sanded the paint that was already on the pencil, painted three coats of green paint on my pieces of pencil and then a top coat of distress crackle paint, before I’ve used my hot glue gun and glued the pieces together to hold my bird cage together so it looks like a bird cage.  I’ve then used my hot glue gun again and glued my dove in place.

A visit to the local bead shop where I had a whole lot of fun picking out pearls and bits and pieces for the ‘dangly bits’ hanging from my bird cage.

Have to say that I love, love, love the way this wee OTP turned out ... and it just looks so right sitting in my cubby hole shelves in my scrap room.

Attitude ...

His Attitude ... hmmmmmm ... no comment ...

Kaisercraft's 'Attitude' - love it ... another fabulous collection.

This layout went up on the Kaisercraft blog earlier this week.

and a wee close up, just cos I can ...

I’ve cut a square from my background paper, I’ve layered a piece of the Independent  transparency underneath and then layered another piece of patterned paper underneath the transparency – all layered from the bottom. I’ve used a Crafter’s Workshop template and a mixture of modelling paste, coarse texture gel and glimmermist to give me a little texture on top of my background paper and then I’ve layered paper and collectables and built up my layout using double sided adhesive, corrugated cardboard remnants and mounting foam dots.

Just sharing.
