Dream ...

Hope that you aren't all sick of me sharing my easel cards ... yet ...

Cos I've got a few more to share with you over the coming days and weeks - just saying.

This card, put together using the Periwinkle collection from Kaisercaft.

I love, love, love this collection - I truly do

Creating made a whole lot easier using this collection - honest.

Save all your kisses for me ...

Save all your kisses for me ... well that too ... lol ...

But for this layout, I had a little play using the Butterfly Kisses collection from Kaisercraft ...

I had a play with mists and paint and a little gesso, texture paste, masks and mesh.  You name it, I think that I played with it on this layout.  I even dribbled, excuse the expression.

Just sharing.

Not fair ...

Another weekend just about done and dusted.

The weekend thief somehow managed to catch up with me again and seriously, he stole so many hours from me ... not fair.

When you work all week, you really do look forward to the weekend and then no sooner do you start unwinding and really relaxing, well then it's time to think about heading back to work - what's with that?

Today though I did find time to be a little creative.

Actually I have to be honest and say that I whipped up a layout, but can't share that one for quite some time.

I also grabbed some scraps that had been sitting there for quite some time and played along with the Cardabilities sketch - No. 61.

My card came out looking like this.

This photo is a bit on the dark side for some reason.

Right then, things to do, places to go ... nuh, not really, no place to go, but definitely things to do.
Enjoy your week.

The big red shed ...

You know the one ... where everyone gets a bargain.

Yesterday I went shopping ... you guessed it - at the big red shed.

Now I have to admit, I haven't been in there for absolutely ages ... a. very. long. time.

No reason, just haven't.

Yesterday I was on a mission - I was looking at outdoor furniture.

I have to say I had the most amazing staff 'assisting me' shall we say and they truly were fabulous.  Now I have to be honest here, I have never struck such helpful staff in there before.  They honestly took an interest and were prepared to help ... and help they did ... and I thanked them for their assistance whilst I was shopping ... I truly believe that it's what should be done.

Anyway, I shopped ... yep, I surely did ... outdoor furniture will be picked up tomorrow, cos there was no way that it was going to fit in my car ... we had one of those big 'move it' things from out the back, stacked pretty high it was too.  DH can arrange for it all to be picked up ... I'm thinking the trailer is going to be required.

Mr DIY hubby is going to be busy in the coming days - there are a few screws and nuts and bolts that are going to have to be tweaked ... yep, certainly pleased that I've got a Mr DIY hubby.

Screwdrivers and me ... well let's just say it could  and would be a long wait before I ever got around to putting everything together [and I'm honest].

But anyway, while I was in the big red shed I decided to have a wee looksy around ... I was quite impressed.

My trolley seemed to fill quite steadily and quite rapidly for some reason.

The odd Christmas decoration may have kinda tumbled into said trolley too, just quietly.  Well it just might have - lol.

Let me tell you what else just happened to tumble into said trolley and O.M.G. with a cup of coffee, ummmmmmmmmmm ... I may have just unwrapped a Baileys filled chocolate - have to say I struggled with the opening of the tube of said Baileys chocolates ... but oh wowser, ooh-la-la ... very 'noice' - actually very 'noice' doesn't even come close.

I'm thinking that tube was $12.99 well spent.

Sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! don't tell.

On that note,

P.S. might just have to indulge in another wee treat.

Creating with sketches ...

I was on Saturday sketch duties with the team at Kaisercraft last weekend.

The sketch that I played with ...

And my layout ...

Love the Periwinkle collection ... it is g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.

Don't forget that you can play with any of the sketches throughout each month [or more than one], follow the rules and you can be in to win a fabulous Kaisercraft collection.

Happy creating everyone.

A purse with a difference ...

Wow, those colours look a little bit askew ... let's try again ...

That's a whole lot better ... I've used papers from one of C'est Magnifique's recent kits.

I made a purse quite similar to this one last year.  A template from a box of chocolates ...

But recently though I saw a tute and thought to myself, I can play with that idea and so I did and have.

See the photo above, the top photo, a little something wrapped up in teal tissue ... inside, one bracelet for the young fella's girlfriend's 18th birthday later this week.

That hot glue gun was a wonderful invention ... cos I've put it to work this weekend ... flowers, pearls and baubles glued to tissue paper and now gift has been tucked away inside the wee purse.

The young fella has been given instructions on how to open the wee purse - so time will tell to see if he was listening or not.

Will definitely make a few more of these up ... they could hold fabulous wee treats.

OMG, let's quickly talk insurance ... and by that I mean, quickly ... as in q.u.i.c.k.l.y.

Received the house insurance bill earlier this week and I just about fell over ... I said a naughty word, as one can do and one does from time to time.

Man alive.

2010 - the princely sum of $598.68

2011 - the princely sum of $802.69

2012 - the princely sum of $1,211.85

Yes I know that there have been a few earthquakes around the countryside.

Yes I know that there have been a few 'major' eathquakes around the countryside.

But wowser, that is more than a princely jump in my our house insurance premium for the year ...

More than a little bit gobsmacked to be honest.

Crap ... that's more than a little jump ... that's pole vault material.

It's bleedin' doubled.

Haven't checked the household contents insurance to see what that has done .. this one has been a big enough shock.

Just saying.

Another year older ...

Perhaps another year wiser ... perhaps not ...

But yep, another year older today.  Those numbers are starting to get scary people.  S.C.A.R.Y.

Not much I can do about it though - they just keep ticking over and I keep getting a whole lot closer to another zero ... ewwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!    But I will deal with that when it happens - as you do.

But anyway, I thought that as it was my birthday I would celebrate with a giveaway - no idea what yet ... but I have to spend some time in my scrap room this long weekend - tidying and clearing out ... again ... yep, it's neverending ... and so while I'm in there, I plan on putting together some gift packages - how does that sound.

If you would like one of those gift packages to head your way, how about you leave a comment on this thread.

3 is my lucky number - so three winners - how does that sound?

Will close the draw on Sunday night, hopefully organise posting of same on Monday and get them away on Tuesday.  Good intentions and all that.

Don't be shy, if you come and visit me every now and again and don't normally leave me a message, now's the time to say hi ...

Christmas gifts ...

I was rostered on the Tuesday Tip this week over at the Kaisercraft blog ... did you pop in and have a looksy?  I think that you all need to visit their blog regularly, they have fabulous Tuesday tips and techniques and the DT creations are gorgeous throughout the week showcasing the monthly Kaisercraft collection releases ... check out their blog.

Anyway, my tip this week ... read on for more details.

You all know that it’s not too far away and we will be singing Christmas carols, making last minute Christmas gifts for friends and family, wrapping presents and putting up the Christmas tree.

Wrapping of the presents is exactly what I have done this week for my Tuesday Tip: Using a little Twig & Berry, I’ve used one piece of 12×12 patterned paper and made a gift bag – the perfect size to pop in a piece of jewellery for your daughter or a special friend. Maybe even a special soap for the children’s teacher.

Then I thought to myself, how about I decorate it and so I have.

Take one Kaisercraft wooden stocking – trace around the wooden shape and then reduce the size of it by using a photocopier. I’ve cut two shapes and hand stitched around the edge and filled with a light dacron filling.

To personalise my gift bag just a little bit more … I’ve named my Christmas stocking – using those tiny wee alpha stickers – just the perfect size.

But then I couldn’t stop there, I did the same thing again, but this time using a small Kaisercraft wooden star – I haven’t reduced the size of this one though. Once again I cut two shapes, this time using the star and I’ve hand stitched around the edge of the star and then filled with dacron before finishing off my hand stitching.

And my star – using tiny wee alpha stickers again – just for you [un-named]. I’ve done that before now with parcels under the Christmas tree – left them un-named, so beady little eyes and pokey little fingers didn’t know which parcels belonged to who!

I’ve used some twine for the handles, a little inking around the edges of the gift bag and just like that … you’ve gone and made your gift, just a little more special as there’s nothing better than handmade.

and just like that ... you have made someone's gift just a little bit more special.

Show and tell ...

some of the pics from Christchurch.

From left to right :
The old Carlton Hotel site, bronze statue over the road from the Arts Centre, can't for the life of me think where the next one was taken as I am typing this, opposite the museum - note the spire sitting on the gound, Knox Church, well what's left of it, bronze statue over the road from the Arts Centre - this statue was absolutely gorgeous of a young girl lying down reading a book, and the bottom two - crane city - and the sizes of some of the cranes were amazing.

I took hundreds of photos ... I've still got to download all the photos from another digital card thingymajig ... but when I went to download some of the pics last weekend, I got all sorts of error messages - not sure what's going on - but I will get there, eventually.

Right then, I should be creating tonight.

The house to myself - it's nice and quiet ... so we will see how I go.

I'm back ...

Some of you probably didn't even miss me, perhaps didn't even know that I had been away ... and that's okay ... but I'm back now.

Hopefully normal blogging will resume now, whatever 'normal' is.

Yep, I've been and gone and I'm back again.

Last Thursday Mr Friz and I headed away for a few days - let's be honest here, it was more than a few days.

We headed to Christchurch to cheer on and support the Southland Under 18 rugby squad - 'N' was in the team.

We both got a few days off work, packed our bags, well packed the truck and away we went.

'N' travelled with the team, stayed with the team, did everything with the team actually.

DH and I did everything ... by ourselves.  Woo hoo.

We ate when we pleased, we drove here and there and when we pleased ... the only thing we had to do at any given point in time was to be at the rugby ... lol ... the reason for our trip.

Mother Nature played with us a little ... we had sunshine, we had winds, we had gale force winds, we had hail, we had cold, we had sunshine.  One day my patootie froze, the next I got sunburnt ... crazy.

But before I forget, let's talk about rugby, well just for a little bit.

Our boys can hold their heads high ... they had a ripper tournament - three competition games before we headed to Christchurch, all for points and all three games won by Southland.  Three more games in Christchurch and we made the final ... unfortunately beaten on the day in the final ... but as I said, our boys can hold their heads high.  They played some brilliant rugby.

They had a lot of vocal support from the sideline.  Quite a few families travelled north for the tournament, which truly was fabulous to see.  One of the games, and I think that it may have been the semi final, left me hoarse ... yep, I can yell and scream with the best of them ... I've been known to be more than a little vocal and have to remember to stand well away from Mr Friz if he is videoing the game ... my language has been known to be a little colourful on occasion ... hence the need to stay away from Mr Friz if he is videoing the game ... just saying.

Anyway, in between visits to the Belfast Rugby Club, I managed to do my bit for the economy and indulged in a little retail therapy from time to time ... just saying.

I met up with old friends - well we certainly won't dwell on the 'old' bit ... age is but a number after all ... but you know what I mean.

Awesome to catch up with one 'old buddy' who just happened to catch me out indulging in a little bit of retail therapy - have to say I love that 'Typo' shop ... and Vicki, thanks for taking time out to meet up and the two 'Mr's' met up as well.  We had a wee wander around the mall and a quick bite to eat.

After a few phone calls, I met the lovely Hilary - you know the one, Hilary from from Scrap It Simple - I felt I needed a few new scrapping supplies - yeah right ... and she has a few of them too, scrapping supplies.  We indulged in a nice quiet ale on a sunny Sunday afternoon ... fabulous way to relax ... thank you.

Mr Friz and I went on the Behind the Red Zone bus tour in Christchurch ... wowser, amazing really ... will share some photos when I finally get around to downloading them off the camera.

Caught up with another special friend ... after a few text messages, texting to and fro as you do ... I sent a message 'tour finished now. back at the unit. wotcha up to ... a minute later, I kid you not, I receive a message 'Open ya door...' and wouldn't you know it, I open the door and see Trace getting out of her car.

My visitor comes bearing gifts, which shall remain unopened for another few days yet ... well they might, they might not - just saying ... thank you Trace, Vicki and my angelic friend, Janine, as well.  Talk about spoilt!

In between visitors, the rugby, the retail therapy, a whole lot of dining out ... our truck had to have a little TLC ... we were over taking pics through the gate at AMI Stadium and we go to leave and the truck just wouldn't play nicely ... finally managed to get it going ... I looked at Mr Friz, he looked at me,we made an executive decision just to drive home as in get back to the unit, which we did ... a few phone calls, the AA man was awesome ... another AA man was even more awesome the next day and gave us a loaner for the day, he took our truck away, for the day ... I'm no mechanic [that's why I am quite happy to pay Mr AA bill every year], two new batteries, an alternator, fan belt and whatever else, $1,200 poorer ... Mr Friz was back on the road ... definitely unexpected, but sometimes, well sometimes these things happen.

We left Christchurch on Wednesday morning and headed south.  We tiki toured here and there - visited Lake Tekapo, had a brief stop for photos, as you do, coffee and a quick bite and we were back on the road again.

We kept driving and headed inland some more to Mount Cook.  Mother Nature wasn't playing nicely for us again and we couldn't actually take any photos of the mountain itself, she was blanketed in cloud - instead I had to make do with some postcards.

Looked at staying the night at the Hermitage, but after seeing some of the tariffs I decided against it.

And wait for it - remember I said that Mother Nature wasn't playing nicely - well there was snow on the ground in the village itself.  Looked like they had had a real dumping.

Beautiful drive off the main road to the village itself - if I remember rightly it was something like 45 minutes from the turn off - but an awesome road to drive on.  Some of the loopies would have got their monies worth, well and truly, stopping for photos here and there and for the real locals to make their way down the main road - as in woollie four legged critters - yep, there was even stock being moved and they had taken over the highway.

We decided to get back on the road and we drove through to Twizel, found a motel unit and stayed the night there.  Have to say that the motel unit itself was lovely, some of the guests that checked in later than ourselves weren't ... we listened to a barking four legged critter for hours when we went to bed.  Made worse by their unit door opening, closing, the car door opening and closing and then their unit door opening and closing ... yep, they had a dog with them, left in their car overnight that wouldn't settle and wouldn't stop barking.  I was not a happy camper.  Mr Friz had a set of ear plugs with him and had to use them.  We checked out in the morning and I mentioned the barking to the motelier and found out their were two dogs in the car ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Back on the road and we were definitely homeward bound.  Mr Friz suggested a trip to Wanaka, but nope, I was well and truly ready to be home.

The road was awesome, we went down through Omarama, stopped off at Cromwell to do the eating thing again, as you do, had a wee looksy around and then we were back on the road.

At Gore we did the driving swap and I was back behind the wheel and then before I knew it, I was driving into our garage and we were home.

The truck has now been emptied, the washing has all been done, some of the retail shopping has yet to be removed from said bags, but I will get there.

I even found time to run the lux around today, wash the floors, washed a few windows, folded a mountain of laundry, cooked a roast for dinner tonight and now I've blogged.  Yay, go me!!!

Time now for a little wind down and perhaps a cold something or other.

Will share a photo or two in the coming days ... cos now I'm back !!!!

If and when ... I can find the time ...

I quite like to play along with a challenge every now and again.

C'est Magnifique sponsored a Norwegian scrapping site just recently - Scrapperiket.

Their challenge - to use two fonts.

I figured that wasn't ever going to be in the too hard basket.

Using the C'est Magnifique September monthly kit, I whipped up this layout and I truly did whip it up ... in no time at all.

What I did have difficulty with however, was the time zones ... I whipped up this layout on Sunday afternoon thinking to myself, it had to be uploaded by midnight on the 29th, Sunday our time.

Ummmmmmmmmm ... that would be wrong Michelle ... it was midnight on the 29th, Norwegian time ... and guess what ... I missed the deadline and have absolutely no idea what time that made it here in New Zealand.

Oh well, you live and learn ...

For the littlies at Christmas

I wanted to make something for the small table that the 'littlies' will sit at on Christmas Day.

Using the Mint Twist Kaisercraft release, just cos it's fun and funky and the 'littlies' will just love the wee snowmen and reindeer faces, I put together a set of our milk cartons, made a box to sit them in, grabbed a couple of skewers and glued them to the inside of the box and then tied a wee line of bakers twine between them and glued on a couple of stockings and a Merry Christmas sign.

Using the collectables in this range, made creating a whole lot easier.

The plan ... to have some wee Christmas treats in each carton and closer to the day, these little treasures will be named for each of the 'littlies', once I definitely know which 'littlies' are coming for dinner.

A time to play ...

Last month I found time to play with the ScrapboxNZ monthly sketch.

I had a real play putting this layout together ... I’ve used a mask and modelling paste on the background paper, then you throw in a little distressing, a little ink, a little layering, a few flowers, a few other bits and bobs, a few pearls and voila ... and I even journalled, which is hidden on the round tag under the music paper.

Journalling seems to happening a little more often these days.  It might even mention that I have a wee thing for Christmas decorations - lol.

And just like that, another layout, done and dusted.

As you can see, I've still got a wee thing for using modelling paste and muslin ... can't see it disappearing any time soon either, just quietly.

Love, love, love ...

this wee project.

You might have seen it on the Kaisercraft blog last week.

I played with a Tim Holtz configurations box and the fabulous Twig and Berry collection from Kaisercraft - honestly ... fan-tab-u-lous.

So ... here we go ...

Now you always knew that you were going to get close ups ...

and another one ... see the little Santa Claus and Mrs Claus ... very special ...

I had an absolute blast putting this configurations box together.

I love Christmas and I love the Twig and Berry collection, put the two together and it’s definitely starting to look a whole lot like Christmas is coming in my house.

If you look really closely on the bottom layer you will see two wee Christmas ornaments, Santa Claus and Mrs Claus on rocking chairs ... my mother-in-law gifted me these wee ornaments and tells me that they are very old ... and she is now in her 80’s.

Special wee treasures to cherish.

Hi there and welcome back. Yep, I'm on a roll. I realised that I hadn't shared this layout - another one ... White, green and orang...
