Gorgeous colours ...

from the Miss Nelly collection of papers from Kaisercraft.

Creating with these colours was really quite easy to be honest ... everything kinda just fell into place.

It definitely wasn't hard.

Ouch ...

Yesterday I wore heels for the first time in a very long time ...

It's been how long since scrap camp - I'm sure that scrap camp was back in May.

Well it's been that long since I have worn heels, well ... up until yesterday.

True - this coming from a gal that has worn heels like - forever.

I thought I would give it a go ... kept the flat boots at home and pulled out a pair of slides.

I didn't do too badly for the best part of the day - but boy-oh-boy was I pleased to throw them off when I got home from work last night.

The ankle has been clicking off and on and well, it just feels niggly to be honest, even a little bit on the sore side.

I had to dig out the foot spa and fill it up and I just felt like I had to relax my tootsies and ankle for a wee while.

I'm thinking that my boots are going to be being worn for a wee bit longer yet ... little steps, slowly but surely.

I can do it !!!!
Just saying.

O.M.G. ...

look at this ...

Now I can't take ownership of the photo, cos I didn't take it ... my friend Nadine took it ...

Nadine has one of those new fandangled cameras, that lots of you seem to be buying of late ... doesn't the cupcake in that photo, well doesn't it look divine ... well it looked just like one that came in my pack of cupcakes as well ... and I know the one that I had, tasted absolutely divine ...

We had someone at work of late selling cupcakes as a fundraiser for the SPCA ... and ooh-la-la ... let's just say that every. one. that I had was yummy ... in fact, yummy so does not even come close.

I wonder if they plan on doing another fundraiser any time soon ... in fact, any time at all ... I will definitely be supporting them ... again!!!

Just saying.

A little man ...

on his kindy trip - quite possibly his last kindy trip before he went to school.

Using the Hunt and Gather collection from Kaisercraft, throw in a little glimmermist, a little recycling in the form of an onion bag, a little corrugated cardboard. I've also made a couple of wee toothpick flags. Misted a little twine and voila.

My wee friend Max.

Right then, had better get back to an OTP creation that just doesn't want to play nicely ... but I'm determined. Not sure who is going to win yet, the OTP or moi!!! Time will tell.

P.S. I can hear one of those sucker-upper contraptions outside in someone's garden ... sounds like they could be munching a few leaves ... Spring is in the air.

Now if I could only find the pattern again.

Two scarves, two ruffled scarves.

You know I love me a little purple - and a double shade of purple.

Well, that has to be good for me.

When I find what I have done with the pattern ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

I'm back ...

well I haven't been away anywhere ... I just couldn't get into my own blog - sad, but true ...

It kept kicking me out ... crazy!

Must have been pick on me week!!!!!

But I'm here ... waving at you ... hi-de-hi ...

And ... I have to say, in amongst all the shitty weather we have been having of late, not that we can really complain compared to others around the countryside ... but it hasn't been overly flash people ... but anyway ... tonight driving home from work, I had to wear my sunnies and then wait for it ... I had to take them off ... they felt strange ... yep, they surely did.

Now while there was no heat as such in the sun ... the sun was still shining ... definitely perked me up ...

Have a good weekend people and I might just have another post or two or three or four to share with you ...

Special delivery ...

Happy mail - fab-u-lous ...

Happy mail in a self care swap.

The lovely Janine, you know, the angelic one, organised a self care swap for a few of us.

Someone draws your name out of the magic hat ... thanks Mike ... and wowser, was I spoilt or what ...

Let me share.

Last week ... I received a call to say a lady was downstairs to see me.

I got waylaid heading downstairs and got there and I saw a lady in reception that had been pointed out to me as my visitor.

I looked at her and she said you don’t know me and I vaguely recall saying ... ummmmmmm ... no ...
and then she said I am Rachel’s Mum and I sort of thought ... ummmmmmmmmmmmm ...
yep and then she mentioned the gift
and having to give it to me after 1st August ... and OMG then the penny dropped.

We talked for a wee bit more and I politely thanked her as you do ...
honestly, she must have thought that I was the total dumb blonde
and then I toddled upstairs, getting waylaid yet again on my way upstairs this time.

Reached my desk, sat down and promptly snaffled ribbons and opened my box ...
and was going wow ... OMG look at that ... and look at this ... and all the time talking to myself ...
OMG ... I had tears ... thank you so very much my friend ...

I’m gobsmacked ... it’s all gorgeous ... can’t remember what I opened first ...
I know I read my card and then I sat opening wee packages left, right and centre ...
I had real tears honestly ... you were so very thoughtful and what a darling self care package ...

I can’t thank you enough ... and will continue to rave about it for quite some time ...

I don’t know what to say ... except a big huge thank you ...

and a photo of the bounty

Divine ... soaps, body wash ... love me some frangipani scent ... takes me back a few years to heavenly massages in Fiji ... ooh-la-la - love me some frangipani ...

Laces, flowers, incense - totally gorgeous ... and a gorgeous purple coloured scarf ... already worn I might add ... out to dinner in the weekend.

Thank you so very much Rachel for my pamper package ... you rock ... I was totally spoiled.
Just saying.

A nice cold glass of this ...

is just lovely.

The rest of the bottle was just as good.

Had to have a wee quiet drink to celebrate ... I let the young fella have a wee taste - he wasn't impressed - that was okay by me ... the old fella, well he didn't like it either ... he doesn't drink wine or champagne.

And that left only moi ... I didn't let the team down.

25 years ...

Quite some time ago I married a young man.

A young man that is definitely my best friend and quite honestly, my soul mate.

And by quite some time ago ... I mean just that ... quite some time ago ... in fact, today, that would be 25 years ago.

Won't bore you with the details, but let's just say we went away to Queenstown to go skiing
and we came home married - honest, we did!!!

I whipped up this card to mark our 25 years of marriage.

And ... those flowers that I blogged about yesterday, well they were from my darling husband ... his card "Thanks for the first fantastic 25 years!!" ... Love always

So yep, I'm feeling more than a little bit lucky. Lucky that I have such a special man in my life.

So to my darling husband, happy anniversary babe ... I love you, I'm in love with you and I will always love you ... you're still the one!!!!

Lucky, lucky, lucky ...

Yep, I am lucky ...

Today I received a call at work to whip downstairs as there was something for me ...

Naturally I head downstairs to see what's happening and one of our staff headed towards me carrying the most beautiful bouquet of flowers ... these photos really don't do them justice to be honest.

Might have to take another photo tomorrow now that they are sitting on my dining room table.

They truly are stunning [and some].

Lily's, orchids, carnations, stock, tulips, but to be honest I have to admit that I don't actually know what some of the other flowers are.

Lots of greenery ... a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

All wrapped up in purple paper and lots of purple netting, which I can see will be recycled at some stage and then tied up with a huge black and white striped ribbon. Throw in a few pearls and this bouquet of flowers really is a winner.

Flowers were so stunning and beautifully presented that I actually rang the florist to thank them ... bet they don't have too many phone calls like that ... but I felt they needed to know.

I normally order flowers for others using another florist ... but wowser, this has left me quite impressed.

So if you ever need to send flowers to anyone in Invercargill for whatever reason ... contact Tudor Florist ... this bouquet alone will have me raving about them for quite some time.

P.S. my husband has well and truly earned some major brownie points ...

do you ...

subscribe to the Country Papercraft newsletter???

If you don't, well I think that you should!

Sign up for their newsletter, it is quick and painless, honest.

If you do receive their newsletter you will have seen this layout earlier this week.

I whipped this one up late last week and you can see by looking at the date that it is a brand spanking new layout.

I used the August monthly kit from Country Papercraft and the only thing I added to the kit - a little paint, a little glam and some mesh ... oops, and some ink ... and I printed off the calendar.

I journalled on the back of this layout and I am going to share the journalling with you.

***

Today I was scared.

I found out late afternoon that you were in hospital and about to have a blood transfusion. I cleared my desk and whipped down to the hospital. I had to gown up, mask up and glove up before I could enter your room. Before I walked in I peered in through the glass panel on your door. Your back was facing the door and you were lying on your side. I could see the back of your head, you had a lightweight blanket covering you ... you looked so small, you really did. I walked in; you turned over, looked at me and held out your hand.
I almost lost it then.

You have been saying for years and years that we would have to put up with you till you are 100. I’m not ready for anything to happen to you yet ... you’re only 82 ... and you’ve got a long way to go before you reach 100.

Overnight you had a double bag blood transfusion to perk you up and it obviously did what it needed to do. You got your wish, you just wanted to go home, as you put it ... “I feel fine, I’m not sick”. You tried telling the nurses and the doctors that there was nothing wrong with you.

There will be numerous trips backwards and forwards to the hospital over the coming weeks, but hopefully everything will be put right.

You have been such a very special person in my life and I love you dearly, never forget that. You’re my Mum.

Thursday 28 July, 2011

***

Honestly, this lady is such a special person in my life ... she's been there for me since I was 16 years old ... yep, I started going out with her youngest son just after my 16th birthday ... and yes, by marriage this gorgeous lady is my mother-in-law ... but I've called her Mum, since I was 16 and you know what ... I'm proud to call her my 'Mum' ... so very proud ...

Now even though I used the Country Papercraft kit to whip up this layout - the inspiration for the title 'today' came from over at "Bird is the Word" - their challenge was to use the word 'today' in either your title or your journalling ... and I chose to use it in both.

So if you are looking for a challenge head over to their blog and keep an eye out for their word challenges.

Right then,
Best I get out of here.

M
