Brackish Guitarist, Co-producer & Co-engineer Tim Fitzpatrick Talks Self-titled Debut Album, Working with Ace Enders & The Influence of Dogs

Brackish Live Scenario Photography (CREDIT: Jared Wood) I first heard anout Brackish from either my older cousin, Josh (who, actually, knows frontman/guitarist Connor Byrne) or Darko The Super (a self-procliamed super-fan of now-defunct band YJY .) I'm pretty sure that would have been right around the same time as the release of Coming Down (2017) when Byrne and the band were in the midst of a period of great transition. Brackish's next release, Worlds (2018,) showcased Byrne with a more fully-formed revitalized band featuring guitarist Tim Fitzpatrick, bassist Nick Rosica. and drummer Zach Miller. Fitzpatrick was, actually, part of YJY until their dissolution a few years back and amongst them, Brackish's memebrs are/were affiliated with Dot Square, Five Hundred Bucks, GEL, The Great Explainer, mt.ida, Not Yer Baby, Scarier Area, and SICK SH*T. In recent months, Brackish have been sharing singles—two, produced, mixed, and recorded by Arthur "Ace" Enders (Th...

Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse Share Unreleased "Ninjarous" Feat. MF DOOM from 30th CENTURY RECORDS, VOL. 2 (Words By: Connor Byrne)

"Unlikely Indie legends gift us with DOOM 's best emcee effort this decade, through a track crafted by long-time collaborator Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) in [conjunction] with posthumous prolific song-writer, Sparklehorse (Mark Linkous.) Listeners already have precedent that only good could come from duo, Danger Mouse & MF DOOM , as their collaborative project, DANGERDOOM , gave us 2005's The Mouse & The Mask . What differentiates The Mouse & The Mask from DOOM 's dozens of other projects—aside from the Cartoon Network features—is DOOM acting solely as the emcee in this outfit, where he usually has a heavy role in production. It's easy to see how trust was formed, though, as Danger Mouse curated his trademark clean, unique beats that set DOOM up to verbally knock it out of the park on every track. "Ninjarous" makes no exception here and while it exhibits the sterile perfection of Danger Mouse in feel, the influence of Sparklehorse ...

Philly Punks Brackish Re-emerge with New Line-up & Worlds EP Produced By The Menzingers' Andy Clarke & Tom May (Black Numbers)

Worlds by Brackish Brackish is an unabashedly Punk/Hardcore band originally hailing from Trenton, NJ and currently based out of Philly . Championed by Darko The Super , Lt. Headtrip, Ray Strife , and my older cousin Josh , Brackish make a nostalgic, yet extremely modern brand of early 2000's-reminiscent Screamo/Emo & Pop-Punk . If you are/were ever a fan of Bayside , Dashboard Confessional, Take This to Your Grave -era Fall Out Boy , Glassjaw, Jimmy Eat World , Midtown, Saves The Day , Senses Fail, Sunny Day Real Estate , Taking Back Sunday, Thursday , or The Used, I would strongly suggest checking out Brackish . The Witzard , as you may well remember, previously featured Brackish 's 2017 Black Numbers EP and 7-inch, Coming Down . Today, they're back with yet another EP on Black Numbers (their third overall) simply titled Worlds ; once again, produced by The Menzingers' Andy Clarke & Tom May at Retro City Studios in Philly with drums recorded by Sean ...

Trenton-bred & Philly-based Brackish Revive Early 2000's "Pop-Punk"/Screamo Stylings On Coming Down EP (Black Numbers Records)

Brackish are a "Pop-Punk"/Screamo revival band hailing from Trenton, NJ and are currently based out of Philly —think Take This to Your Grave -era Fall Out Boy . Brackish attest they make "songs you can sit in your room and listen to" and readily list "burritos, tacos, chimichangas, and sandwiches" as Band Interests on their Facebook page. Brackish frontman and guitarist Connor Byrne , oddly enough, was introduced to by my older cousin (who also hails from North Jersey ) and is also Facebook Friends with Evan "Darko The Super" Souza , Raymond "Ray" Strife, and Lt Headtrip . It appears as though I was put into contact with Connor because of this June 27 Facebook call-to-action: "Heyyyy, do you know a radio station/blog/podcast that might be interested in covering the Brackish record? Let me know." When asked how they knew @LtHeadtrip @DarkoTheSuper & @RaymondStrife , @brackishtheband simply replied: "Local m...
