10 Minute Major, L-R: Eric Perry, Pete Figoni, Nick Yulico, and Bart Ostrowski (CREDIT: mëdusa @rand0mbella) 10 Minute Major is a new Alternative Rock, Post-hardcore, and Indie Rock-leaning band hailing from Huntington, New York consisting of four seasoned Punk/Hardcore vets. 10 Minute Major's current line-up is vocalist/guitarist Nick Yulico, guitarist/backing vocalist Eric Perry, bassist Bart Ostrowski, and drummer Pete Figoni. It was a fitting precursor for 10 Minute Major's debut EP , simply titled EP, which dropped right at the tail-end of last year in October 2022. Over time, we got to know 10 Minute Major frontman and guitarist Nick Yulico, strictly online, and once he began following our ...

Tony Molina Speaks On "CONFRONT THE TRUTH" EP, OVENS' 15-year Anniversary, His Love for YG & Robin Gibb's Influence (The Witzard Interview)

"You could fit the contents of Tony's previous releases on Slumberland and Matador [Records] onto one side of a 90-minute cassette and still have room left over for the eight offerings on CONFRONT THE TRUTH , but would you want it any other way? When Tony sings about "trying to move on but I just don't know how," no extension of the time it takes for him to bring that feeling across is going to solve the problem at hand. You're immediately thrust into the orbit of these songs; you know how he feels, and now you can relate. Transference is complete. You've got plenty of time left over to dwell upon them. The eight offerings on CONFRONT THE TRUTH notch a significant advancement in his style and approach. Almost completely absent from these new songs are the over-loaded guitar crunch of DISSED AND DISMISSED , or his earlier work with OVENS; it's replaced by gentle acoustic balladry, tasteful Mellotron and piano backing, the kind of musicianship that o...

You're Living All Over Me: California X - "Spider X/Pond Rot" (Don Giovanni)

I usually try to stray away from conjuring up those vague, strangely obtrusive analogies to describe what a band "sounds like." But here's one for good ol' time's sake: Black Flag/Dinosaur Jr. /Motörhead . Now, that's a pretty damn accurate description of Amherst, Mass' very own California X 's scuzzy brand of guitar-driven Garage Punk/Rock ; Lemmy, Dan & "Cool" (guitar-bass-drums) also incorporate stylistic touches of Rock "N" Roll , which sound similar to The Stooges and Foo Fighters . The band's self-titled [untitled] full-length, California X , is out on Don Giovanni this upcoming January 15th. It's the follow-up to their Damage 45, "Sucker/Mummy" from early 2012 and overall, they're describing it as "noisy 80's Western Mass. Rock , fuzzy 90's Garage Pop , and classic Post-Hardcore SST sounds." While California X and their crew are currently cutting together a SCARY final e...
