First of all, don't get all hot n' bothered by the cassettes below...read the text before you download it. This is a good show, but the low bias tape source means it's a less than perfect.

There is a shorter version circulating on the Internet sourced from a rebroadcast of the show on 107.3 WAAF-FM (Worcester, MA) from Dec. 25, 1982. That version is almost certainly from the 2-LP syndicated radio show NBC The Source #NBC 82-54 that had a broadcast window date of December 23, 1982. The NBC The Source version drops the songs All The Young Girls Love Alice, Better Off Dead, Elton's Song, Chloe, Daniel, Crocodile Rock, and the closing Medley.
There is a bootleg CD called Starlight '82 that is variously listed as a "board tape"
or a "Master analog cassette recording of the original broadcast on WNEW-FM in NYC."

This version is digitized from a tape from the collection of Art Collins of Rolling Stones Records
that I purchased on Ebay. The two cassettes (a Maxell UD-90 and a Maxell UD-60 low-bias tapes) had professionally printed "Starfleet Blair Inc." cassette labels. Some of the commercials were partially edited to make them shorter, so it's likely this was copied from another tape. One of the songs (Rocket Man) is also cut where there's a tape flip...so it's not some sort of pre-FM tape, either.
So...it's not a master tape of the broadcast in spite of the professional labels. From listening to it, it's low generation. There's very little hiss (sounds like one generation), and no radio static. It doesn't sound compressed...I can't test to see if there's an FM carrier signal embedded, so I don't know if it's "pre-FM" or not. My guess is that it's not a pre-FM, but that this is is a first generation copy edited from the original broadcast. However...the low bias tapes mean this is a tiny bit "low fi" compared to what I normally digitize for you.
But the "Starfleet Blair" labels indicate this was produced close to the source of broadcast...so if you don't have this already, give it a shot and let me know what you think.
I've edited out the commercials, but left in all the radio announcements, and the rather long segments of the audience noise. Everything is tracked, so you can drop it out or advance to the next track if you don't want to wait a minute for band to get back on the stage.
