Does anyone know the name of the announcer?  If so, leave a comment and I'll update the file tag.

Usually, I ramble on at great length, but I want to get both of these shows up while Our Beloved Audience is craving more Rhythm Corps, so here you go!

On the Empire show, I added a folder with examples of the extensive press coverage they received in Michigan.  I also included the one, single item that I found for the state of Washington.

this is everything for Washington

While I have been following the Church ever since I heard "The Unguarded Moment" back in 1981, Rhythm Corps was unknown to me.

They're from Detroit.  Out here on the West Coast, they played in Los Angeles a lot between 1985 and 1988, included some slots opening for Graham Parker at the Palace.  I only found a few listings in the  Bay Area in 1985; they played a bar named Joshua's in San Jose. It's now a Round Table Pizza restaurant, which should give you an idea of the size of the joint.

Rhythm Corps also did a national tour opening for Pat Benatar. In the Bay Area, I found the Pat Benatar ad for the Shoreline Amphitheatre and they're not billed.  This may explain my ignorance about the band, which is unfortunate because they're quite good.

In other markets, they were far better known. Behind the scenes here at the VW, our pal JustDave from the NewJDP blog was a big fan, as was Sam Elliot's Mustache.  But best of all, our pal Mighty Matt came through with a pair of vintage Cleveland broadcasts by the band.  I'm going to tag 'em and put 'em up later this week, so if you like this show, keep an eye on the V-Dub for more Rhythm Corps.

The Rhythm Corps show was for KSHE 95's 21st birthday bash, and admission was free.

Announcer Steve Downes does not name the source of the Church portion of the show.

...has dates from the 1988 Tour (and downloads...I strongly suggest giving the 1988-06-09 New York - Ritz PRE-FM FLAC download a listen).

I have not been able to identify the source so far.  If you have any information, please leave a comment.

OH YEAH...I almost forgot!  IS THAT CANDI STATON ON THE FIRST BUDWEISER COMMERCIAL?  LET ME KNOW! I put in twice, labeled both ways so you can delete the one with Staton's name if you disagree.

JUNE 1, 2025 - I added a print ad for the show to the download.
