Lineage: Soundboardcd>flac>You

Notes: Albert Collins at Monterey Jazz Festival in 1978. Albert Collins was such a pioneer of the Texas Blues sound and had a profound influence on guitarists like Stevie Ray Vaughan (just listen to Things That I Used To Do), Billy Gibbons, Robert Cray, Kenny Wayned Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi and countless others. The Master of the Telecaster is really on fire in this set which must’ve been an amazing experience for those lucky enough to be there. Monterey Jazz Festival is one of the longest running music festivals in the US. Starting in 1958, the festival celebrated its 50th anniversary this past September and has hosted some most legendary names in blues and jazz music.

The band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida on March 26, 1969, and consisted of Brothers Duane and Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts,

Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny Johanson. This is a most excellent Soundboard recording of the band early days. I

wouldn't miss this one if you are an Allman Brothers fan. Some mind blowing guitar work here very tight band. The Band was in top form this evening.

The Band: 1970

Matthew Sweet - Live From The Pit -1997

A Draftervoi original!

Matthew Sweet - Live From The Pit
To Be Aired May 26 - June 2, 1997
Recorded at the Belly Up Tavern, San Diego, CA.

“Live From The Pit” was a monthly syndicated radio program distributed by Global Satellite Network, who also distributed the popular “Rockline” and “Modern Rock Live” shows. Distribution started on August 28, 1995 with a show by Bush, and continued through at least mid 1998 (and possibly longer).

The show was hosted by Dominic Griffin (MTV’s “Real World: Los Angeles”) and entertainment reporter Joe Fleischer. Featured artists were drawn from late Nineties “Modern Rock” mainstays such as Smashmouth, the Foo Fighters, and No Doubt. The two hosts provided ironic indie banter and throw in a few short interview questions for the artists. In keeping with the ironic tone, the questions are not particularly deep or even connected to the artist (“Do you have a favorite Spice Girl?”).

An article in Billboard (1995) said that the producers were hoping most of the sixty stations carrying “Modern Rock Live” would sign up for the show, as well as some album rock stations, so the distribution appears to have been limited to a few hundred copies.

This show features Matthew Sweet, and has a thumping version of the Move’s “Do Ya.” I’ve included a scan of the original cue sheet, and the disc. The disc came in a clear plastic sleeve, so that’s it for the collateral. This is sourced directly from the official CD, not recorded off the radio, so the sound quality is as good as it gets.

NOTE: On the original syndicated CD, Track 14 ("Ugly Truth") came after the 2 minute long Track 15 ("Thanks and Show Credits"). As the credits are quite long, I moved them to the end to make it flow more like an actual concert.

Set List:
01. Come To California
02. DJ Talk
03. Divine Intervention
04. Into Your Drug
05. Interview Segment
06. Girlfriend
07. Sick Of Myself
08. Evangeline
09. Over It
10. Interview Segment
11. Where Do You Get Love
12. Moonage Daydream
13. Do Ya
14. Ugly Truth
15. Thanks and Show Credits

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention - 1973-06-24 - Hordern Pavilion - Sydney,AUS

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention 1973-06-24 Hordern Pavilion Sydney,AUS Frank Zappa show from 1973! Or should I say:On the peak of his career? I mean,he had made the "Freak Out" album in 1966 and he had made "Chunga´s Revenge(1970)" and he had made the "Waka Jawaka"album in 1972 already. And 1973 now is the year of "Cosmic Debris","Fifty Fifty" or "Montana".Frank Zappa & The Mothers are rocking the world... You can hear the fun they had when they played these shows in June of 1973!They sound like they would play "Father Oblivion","Yellow Snow Suite" or "Cosmic Debris"... like they played them for the first time...and never again! If you like Frank Zappa shows (there is the June,25th,1973 show on the Wagon down below, too), and if you still don`t have them,I can only recommend these shows! And I promise: You will love this show, too! Ah,I forgot to tell you something bad...There are some very few unfortunate cuts... The Velvet Underground - Valleydale Ballroom 1966

The Velvet Underground - Valleydale Ballroom
November 4, 1966
Columbus, Ohio
AKA - If It's To Loud For You, Move Back
Remastered Audience Recording @320

This two-CD Japanese bootleg of a show at the Valleydale Ballroom in Columbus, Ohio, on November 4, 1966 is the only live document that gives a representative slice of the Velvet Underground's repertoire in their early days. For that reason alone, it has some historical significance. As music, though, it's not something you'll pull out often for pleasure; for the simple reason that the fidelity is pretty crappy. The vocals suffer the most, but everything suffers a muffled indistinction to a considerable degree. That's unfortunate, as this contains live versions of seven of the ten songs from their classic debut album, including such famous songs as "Venus in Furs," "Heroin," "I'm Waiting for the Man," "All Tomorrow's Parties," and "Femme Fatale," and also has Nico on vocals for the last two of those numbers. You can hear, though, that onstage the arrangements were quite close to those heard on the record (though "Run Run Run" gets stretched out to almost ten minutes), down to John Cale's piano and viola on "All Tomorrow's Parties" and "The Black Angel's Death Song" respectively. As for the two songs that didn't show up on the group's official albums, "Melody Laughter" and "The Nothing Song," these are in fact not so much songs as half-hour instrumental noise rock jams with occasional faint moan-vocals. (Ten minutes of "Melody Laughter" were included on the VU box Peel Slowly and See, but this bootleg has the full 28-minute version; both "Melody Laughter" and "The Nothing Song" comprised the LP bootleg 1966.) Although there's also a selection titled "Lou Says" in the track listing, that's just a 38-second snatch of between-song chatter.
~ Richie Unterberger -AMG

Disc 1:
1. Melody Laughter (29:25)
2. Femme Fatale (3:01)
3. Venus In Furs (6:04)
4. The Black Angel's Death Song (4:00)
5. Lou says (1:18)

Disc 2:
7. I'm Waiting For The Man (6:11)
8. Heroin (7:15)
9. Run Run Run (10:22)
10.The Nothing Song (30:21).

1-10: Valleydale Ballroom, Columbus, Ohio, November 4, 1966.

Bonus CD-R:
1. Melody Laughter (28:02)
2. Nothing Song (22:58).

Limited edition of 500 copies. First 100 copies come with a bonus CDR which offers a digital transfer of the famous 1966 LP. Produced by Dr Strangelove JP. "This is original remaster from 4 track reel tape of SYMPHONY OF SOUND TOKYO, IF IT'S TOO LOUD FOR YOU MOVE BACK! DOUBLE CD.". Some early copies have THE VELVET UNDERGROUND misspelled as THE VELVET UNDERGRPUND on the spine.

Jerry Garcia Band - Garcia Compilation - Vol.1,2,3,4

Jerry Garcia
Jerry Garcia Compilation

Foreigner - Live From Electric Ladyland 1993

“Live From Electric Ladyland” was a syndicated radio show featuring a variety of rock performers such as Roger McGuinn, Ron Wood, Alice Cooper, and George Thorogood.  From references found on the internet, it looks like the Live From Electric Ladyland shows were distributed on CDs between 1990 and 1993.  The CD has logos for New York City’s WNEW-FM radio station, and “The Album Network.”   DJ Pat St. John (of WNEW-FM) hosts the show.  Sound quality is excellent, and I cut out the commercials.  There were no cue sheets, but I included a 300 dpi scan of the original CD disc.

Herman Brood & His Wild Romance - Lochem Pop Festival 1979

Herman Brood & His Wild Romance - Lochem Pop Festival
Lochem, Holland - 1979
Soundboard or FM Source @256

Influenced by piano-stompers like Little Richard and Fats Domino, Herman Brood began studying at art school by the time he was 17; one year later, however, education became a secondary concern after he joined a group called the Moans. That band later became Long Tall Ernie & the Shakers before he joined one of the best Dutch blues combos of the '60s, Cuby & the Blizzards. He performed with the band during the rest of the '60s and into the '70s, but then broke off in 1974 to found a group named Stud. The following year's Flash & Dance Band was his first solo album, though the formation of the band Vitesse (with Herman Van Boeyen) in 1975 resulted in a group album as well, In Vitesse.

By 1977, Herman Brood had rounded up another loose backing band, this one known as Wild Romance. The first album with the new band, Street, was followed by Shpritsz one year later. The latter album contained a surprise hit, "Saturdaynight," which hit the American Top 40 in 1979. His two albums after the success, In a Bad Mood and Go Nutz, were each poorly received by both critics and fans, however. He slowly worked his way back with the more successful LPs Wait a Minute and Modern Times Revive.

Brood moved into acting as well by the mid-'80s, and made several high-profile festival appearances, but then retired from music by the early '90s. During the '90s he devoted his time to painting, returning to the music scene to promote a new compilation as well as a live album. On July 11, 2001 Brood committed suicide by jumping from his room at the Amsterdam Hilton.

This recording has 29 tracks which I am to lazy to list. A fine recording of a great show!

Grateful Dead - 1976-06-09 - Music Hall - Boston,MA

Grateful Dead
1976-06-09
Boston Music Hall
Boston,MA

Excellent Grateful Dead Show!
The playing of the songs is outstanding!
Each of the songs is like a celebration -
just to let the beauty of the song come out...

"The first set is no slouch, looking like a dream set that might have been penned by some fans in the parking lot before the show. Cold Rain opens. It was only played three times in ’73, and once in ’74 on the last night of the farewell stand at Winterland (it was the opener that night too). Cassidy was played only once before, early in 1974. And then we get Scarlet Begonias, Music Never Stopped, and Crazy Fingers, all in a row. Whew! But set two opens with the song that most fans probably didn’t even allow themselves to think about ever hearing again.

The crowd’s reaction to St. Stephen is priceless stuff (equaled again upon its second return in 1983). The song’s jam demonstrates the 1976-typical slowly spinning kaleidoscope of sound right from the first notes. It swirls and swirls going further and further out – Jerry finding one beautiful space after another. They all key back together for the last verse as if they’ve been playing the tune every night since it was last played on 10/31/71. When they shift from “What would be the answer to the answer man?” into Eyes it is dreamy perfection. Is this really happening? You will be in the giddiest of Grateful Dead spaces here.

This Eyes is perfectly described as jubilant. The super up tempo treatment of the song is pure pleasure. Also, it has another new 1976 twist: they build the song backwards with the long exit jam coming before the song itself. This one goes on for 8 minutes before the first verse, and it serves to prolong the giddy zone all the way through. Your dog might even start twirling around the living room to this song, his or her little puppy paws rising and falling like incense smoke overhead."by deadlistening
