Warhmmer Quest: Silver Tower - Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch

This Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch is from Finnegan's copy of Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower... which I am technically painting it for... but also... I need a Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch for our Soulbound game later today!

Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch

It COULD be used in a Disciples of Tzeentch army (or, I think, even a Slaves to Darkness army...?)... But it is Finnegan and I doubt he will ever play Age of Sigmar, so...

If ever I get enough Disciples of Tzeentch ready to play them in Age of Sigmar and need a Gaunt Summoner... I'll probably just pick up my own, at that point!

Warhammer Quest - Hathrek of Gadalhor and Golnir Coalbeard

I finished up two more Warhammer Quest Heroes (or... Protagonists, at least...?) this week.

Hathrek of Gadalhor and Golnir Coalbeard

Hathrek of Gadalhor - Darkoath Chieftain

Hathrek is from The Silver Tower and, the interesting thing is, the Darkoath tribes are worshipers of CHAOS!? Different people end up in the Silver Tower for different reasons.... Some have been trapped there by the Gaunt Summoner. Others have sought it out - either to slay the Gaunt Summoner - or ask a boon of it! The Darkoath Chieftain would the latter, I'm assuming! So in a group with a Knight-Questor of the Stormcast eternals and a Warpriest of Sigmar and a Fyreslayer... they would be allies of convenience! Though the stats are the same in both games, I'm not sure Thematically it's going to work with him playing in Shadow Over Hammerhal - where the characters are working to destroy servants of Chaos!?

Golnir Coalbeard - Duardin Cogsmith

Golnir is the first of the Heroes from Shadows over Hammerhal I've finished.

I've created a new Page on the Blog, here, where you can see ALL of the Heroes and Hostiles from all of the Warhammer Quest games (that I've painted so far!). You can find it here:

Age of Sigmar - Warhammer Quest Miniatures

Ideally I'd like to finish up the actual Heroes for Shadows Over Hammerhal before we start playing next week! But Maybe they'll end up starting with Coalbeard, here, and the Warpriest and Knight-Questor and Fyreslayer from Silver Tower!?

Age of Sigmar - Gryph-Hounds

In addition to the last of the Kairic Acolytes, I finished up three Gryph-Hounds - the bestest hounds in all the mortal realms - over the weekend!

Three Gryph-Hounds

They almost look like they could be a family!?

I know they're called "hounds" but the bodies look more feline to me - as Gryphons usually are - hence the pseudo-big-cat markings!

Two of these are from Warhammer Quest games - the smaller one from Silver Tower, and the one with leopard spots from Shadows over Hammerhal. The other is from a bonus copy of Storm of Celestus Warhammer Underworlds warband that I have. The rest of the warband remain unpainted... I just figured since I was doing these other two gryph-hounds, I might as well do the one from Storm of Celestus while I was at it...

Warhammer Quest - Kairic Acolytes

Here, finally are the last of the Kairic Acolytes from the two earlier Age of Sigmar era Warhammer Quest games; Silver Tower and Shadow over Hammerhal.

I'm not sure which came from which set...

These are all the Kairic Acolytes together.

Weird that there are only 18 of these... They're sold in boxes of 20 normally...? Fielded in units of 10 or 20 in Age of Sigmar. Ah well... Finnegan's probably NEVER going to play Age of Sigmar, so why worry.

These are all the Tzeentch forces so far - still need to finish up the Gaunt Summoner and Tzangors

I might convince him to play Warcry sometime - and he definitely will have a Warband's worth from these Tzeentch warriors.

I'm pretty sure he'd have warcry warbands for Khorne and Nurgle as well, just from the miniatures in Silver Tower and

All of the Warhammer Quest Hostiles (from Silver Tower and Shadow over Hammerhal) - so far! (only eight of the Kairic Acolytes were from Silver Tower)

To finish all the hostiles for Silver Tower I still need to finish the Grots, the Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch, 2 Skaven Deathrunners, 6 Tzaangors, 8 Grot Scuttlings, and 6 more Chaos Familiars!

Huh... I just looked up the contents of Shadows Over Hammerhal and all I need  finish up .for that is 5 Putrid Blightkings...? Maybe I need to finish THAT one first!?

HOW DID I EVER THINK SILVER TOWER WOULD BE QUICKER TO FINISH UP!?

This (along with the three Gryph-Hounds I also finished up over the weekend) puts me at 111x28mm miniatures painted so far this year - versus 91 acquired... Further into the Black!

Yay!

Warhammer Quest - Chaos Sorcerer Lord and Familiars

I finished up a Chaos Sorcerer Lord and a pair of familiars this weekend. The Sorcerer Lord came from Warhammer Quest: Shadows over Hammerhal and the Familiars came from Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower.

Chaos Sorcerer Lord and Familiars

Chaos Sorcerer Lord

The Chaos Sorcerer Lord is, I think, the main adversary in Shadows over Hammerhal (much like the Gaunt Summoner is in Silver Tower)...?  I haven't looked into it as much as Silver Tower, as we won't be playing it for a bit... Had I been aware of that earlier, though, I probably would have put them on a more impressive base!?

This Sorcerer could show up in any Slaves to Darkness army (which I have a few units for)! Or could be a daunting foe in a game of Warhammer - Age of Sigmar: Soulbound (the Role-Playing Game!).

Familiars.

The familiars of the Gaunt Summoner aren't adversaries, per se - they do not move and attack, nor may they be the target of the Heroes attacks. They end up being used as tokens of sorts. When the heroes roll destiny dice, if there are any duplicate dice, those dice are discarded, the heroes check the Consequences of Destiny chart. Depending on the number of the dice discarded, there will either be an Unexpected Event (1,6) or one of the familiars will appear on the familiars show up somewhere on the board (2-5).

If any threes are discarded, Blot, the familiar above, is placed on the table nearest the player with the most Skill cards (must be a minimum of 2, otherwise blot doesn't show up). While Blot is on the table, Heroes cannot use skill cards!

If a Hero moves into the space where a familiar is hanging out, the controlling player and the player to their left both roll a die. If the controlling player's roll is lower, the Familiar curses them and flees. If it is higher, the familiar is moved to the Hero card until it is discarded to make use of the Boon.

In the case of Blot, the curse is that the Hero picks a random skill card that they have and turns it upside down and it remains as such until their next respite and while it is like that it cannot be used. Blot's Boon is invoked when the Hero would draw a Skill card and draws four, instead of two!

Getting ever closer to being able to play! I hope we can start The Silver Tower by the end of June!

Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower - Kairic Acolytes and a Tzangor

I finished up some Kairic Acolytes and a Tzangor over this long weekend.

Kairic Acolytes and a Tzangor

Not the best miniatures I've ever painted... I used a lot of Contrast paints in a lot of places, which I don't, personally, love the look of... but they're DONE! I have a dozen Acolytes and five Tzangors to finish up, and I'll probably try to do that in the next week - while I can remember the colour schemes.

Forces of Tzeentch (that I have finished so far!)

Nice small force of Tzeentch Daemons and followers.

When they are all done there will be:

  • 1x Gaunt Summoney
  • 1x Ogroid Thaumaturge
  • 20x Kairic Acolytes
  • 5x Tzangors
  • 10x assorted Horrors

These models came in the Warhammer Quest boxes we got for Finnegan years ago. Some were in Silver Tower... there may have been more in Shadows over Hammerhal. Once I'm done the Acolytes and Tzangors, I think I only have to fininsh up the little Grot Scuttlers, and then MOST of the stuff required for Silver Tower would be done - certainly enough to play!

I'm hoping we could get a campaign of that going on starting in June...? Maybe...? While playing I'd like to finish up the last of the stuff for Silver Tower (which, I think, is just the Gaunt Summoner) and Shadows over Hammerhal (which, I think, is just a handful of Putrid Blightkings...?)

Warhammer Quest Heroes

I FINALLY finished up a few Warhammer Quest Hero miniatures that have been sitting on the workbench for FAR TOO LONG! They're from two different Warhammer Quest sets! Two are from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower and the others are from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.

Heroes of Warhammer Quest!

These two are from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower. Unlike Blackstone Fortress and Cursed city, the characters in these earlier sets are not named. They are just "Excelsior Warpriest" and "Fyreslayer Doomseeker".

I previously painted the Stormcast Eternals Knight-Questor from Silver Tower. If I painted up ONE of the others, we'd have enough to play through that one... well.. Enough HEROES... I'd still have to paint up ALL THE ENEMIES?! I do have a few of those painted up, thought... I have painted the Ogroid Thaumaturge, and a bunch of Blood Reavers and Horrors (thought I THINK the Blood Reavers are from Shadows over Hammerhal...?). There are some Kairic Acolytes and Tzaangors and a few little Grot Scuttlings and two Skaven... Then there is a Gaunt Summoner and a handful of familiars, but I think the Gaunt Summoner is the Big Bad at the end of the campaign...?

Finnegan played through the campaign ages ago with my dad (with UNPAINTED MINIATURES!). I'm hoping once the miniatures are painted he might be willing to play through it again with me (and maybe Amanda!)

Emelda Braskov and Brutogg Corpse-Eater.

Unlike Silver Tower and Shadows Over Hammerhal, the Cursed City Heroes (and Villains!) are all NAMED!

These are the first two of the EIGHT heroes in the box that I've finished. Four are used in each mission, so I need at least two more to start playing.

To get started on this I need to finish up some rat swarms and zombies - at the very least. There might be a few tokens that need painting... and there are The thought of painting those zombies, though... Kind of makes me want to work on the Kairic Acolytes and Tzaangors and  Grot Scuttlings and Skaven...

We shall see...

(I also happened to finish up the batch of Bat Swarms, but they'll be in a separate post)
