Age of Sigmar - Chaos Sorceress on Daemonic Mount

I picked up this miniatures years ago. I found it at my FLGS, it was old even then! I'd hoped I could use it with my fledgling Slaanesh Daemons/Slaves to Darkness force... alas... there were no warscrolld for Chaos Sorcerer(esse)s on steeds (other than a Manticore..? I think...?).

I picked up a copy of Season of War: Thondia last summer when all the Third Edition books went on deep discount sale - and found there was an section called Anvil of Apotheosis, wherein you could make CUSTOM heroes for just about any faction in the game for play in Narrative or Open Play games... there were SO MANY options you could give to your heroes... and you could put them on a mount! I hoped they'd do something similar in the Narrative expansion books for the new edition... but i seems they're putting them in the Battletomes... and with less options for customization... which was a little bit disappointing... But, on the plus side, Slaves to Darkness was one of the first Battletomes and, despite the lack of fun upgrades specific to wizards, I can now field a Chaos Sorceress on a Daemonic Mount for 150 points in Narrative Play/Paths to Glory games!

Shalayla Daemonkist, the Enraptured Reveller of the Lacerating Titillations - Chaos Sorcererss (on Daemonic Mount!)

I think the upgrades I'll be doing with are:

  • Chaos Sorcerer Lord - 2 Destiny Points
  • Daemonic Steed -5 Destiny Points
  • Weapon Master - 3 Destiny Points
  • Diabolic Strength - 3 Destiny Points
  • Grandfather's Blessing - 2 Destiny Points

Total: 15 Destiny Points - Aspiring Champion 150 points

Other than the basic Chaos Sorcerer Lord package... there wasn't much specifically to buff wizards...

I may swap in Bringer of Fire for either Weapon Master or Diabolic Strength...? Bringer of Fire seems a little more wizard-like... but it's only 2 Destiny Points and I wouldn't be using the full 15... ah well...

All the Slaves to Darkness so far...

Wow... I REALLY need some TROOPS for this force... so far it's pretty much Characters and monsters!

(I do have some Chaos Knights in the works!!)

(and the Darkoath Fellriders/Mounted Chaos Marauders are STILL there too!)

AND ANOTER MONSTER!?

Once I have the Chaos Knights done, I'll have a 1000 point force ready for Path to Glory!

I'd hoped to get in a game with Orion this weekend, but it seems I've caught the cold Keiran brought home earlier in the week and mostly just want to sleep... bah!

We'd been planning to try out Five Men in Normandy or Five Men at Kursk... (as she has already painted a squad or two of the WW2 Americans I traded her earlier in the week!!) Perhaps I'll use the down time to refresh my memory of the rules by playing through the second game in the Five Men in Normandy Solo Campaign I'd started last year!

Age of Sigmar - Tzarketh, Bane of Law

I finished one Chaos Warrior last night and then picked up another this afternoon...

Well... Chaos SORCERER...

Tzarketh, Bane of Law, the Warhammer Day Commemorative Miniature arrived this weekend and I rolled out to the Warhammer Store to pick it up...

I may rename this sorcerer miniature... I mean, Tzarketh is a cool name... and it is fun when named characters show up in games, sometimes... but I've got my OWN narratives to forge. (And despite the miniature being named, I don't think there are any STORIES about Tzarketh, out there!)

I have a feeling this will be queue-jumping and just wrecking all plans to focus on Hedonites of Slaanesh...

Ah, well... it's all CHAOS!!

Chaos Sorcerer?

I did get ONE thing finished up this week! (the rest of what I've been working on can be seen at Work-in-Progress Wednesday - 26 June 2024)!

This character looks like it could be a Necromancer or a Lich or something... but I seem to recall seeing it listed in a Citadel Miniatures catalog waaaaaaaay back as a "Chaos Sorcerer"...

I have no immediate plans for it's use... Just spotted it in the drawer with the other AGe of Sigmar undead and thought, I could finished that up super quickly!

Chaos Sorcerer!?

I don't think it's meant to be a Lich, if you look closely, the skull is probably meant to be a mask and the boney hands are bone-covered gauntlets. If anything it looks more like an Ossiarch Bonereaper - decades ahead of their time?!

Wizard? Artist? Maybe BOTH!?

Wizard? Painter? Maybe a bit of BOTH!?

Sometime ago I picked up four different versions of this wizard/painter from Hasslefree miniatures. All four use the same dolly and are in, more or less, the same pose. The others are all wearing more clothes. Two of them also hold a paintbrush one is in Rennaisance clothes and the other is in late 19th century clothes (I think). The third has a crooked magic wand and looks like he's tooled up for Frostgrave (mediveal-ish looking and dressed for cold weather).

Why did I get THIS one?! I don't know... it made me laugh, I guess... I mean, what is going on here?! Painter just likes to work in the nude in his studio!? Maybe it's a wizard that channels through paint and can channel that power best when he is unburdened by clothes?!

I'd finished it and thought it looked a bit... boring...? and added the paint splashes... not convinced it made it better. But at some time you just have to say, "nope, I'm done with this" and move on...

Will I EVER use this miniature in a GAME!? I have no idea. while painting stuff like this I often try to imagine situations where the miniature could show up in a scenario of a skirmish game or a role-playing game... but then often the situations don't work out as well as they did in my head and so sometimes I feel like they're probably better left there.

Do YOU have any ideas where this dude could show up in a game?

What game?

What setting?

WHAT'S GOING ON!?!?

Ludmilla Farhazzi - Azur Wizard

One of the recent rebasing projects...

My friend John picked up a copy of Frostrgrave Second Edition for me - as part of a bribe to paint some miniatures for him (including some Frostgrave miniatures). I have not played Frostgrave in ages. It's not that I stopped liking the game... I just... y'know... got distracted by other things (Vimy Project, which was pretty all-consuming for the better part of a year) and just haven't gotten back to it yet... In addition to doing some work on John's miniatures, I took a look at the rules, briefly, and tried to organize a couple warbands and started rebasing them in readiness for trying out the new edition... at some point... probably in the fall.

I finished this first warband for Amanda as it only required rebasing (and a few touch-ups). I'm organizing another for myself, but it requires finishing up a few minis. I still have the Jade and Gold wizards that could go at anytime... and so many others that could be cobbled together.

I'm not sure exactly which type of wizard Ludmilla will be, I might just leave that to Amanda to figure out. I'm thinking she kind of looks like an Illusionist, though

Ludmilla Farhazzi - Azur Wizard - and her warband

Ludmilla Farhazzi (right) and her apprentice, Grace. (left).

Ivanka  and Ariana - the two "specialist" archers.

Jane and Bianca - Women-at-Arms

Mandy and Zora - Thieves

Belladonna and Kate - thugs

With these I was trying out my new cobblestone rollers from Green Stuff World. I was kind of still getting the hang of them with these... I like them. I might end up rebasing the other Frostgrave warbands similarly. I like being able to paint the names on the back of bases.

Trying out a new (to me) camera, that is actually of an older generation of the one I was previously using. The older one had a scratch on the lens and always had a blurry spot right in the middle of the pictures and it was just too irritating... but I am loathe to look for new things - especially anything tech-related. Finnegan happened to get a gift card from his school for some sort of points accumulated over the last few years? Amanda used it to get him a new, FANCY camera - as he is taking a photography class in the fall and been talking about doing YouTube videos. So, I've got HIS hand-me-down camera (which he barely ever used. EVER. It's taking some getting used to, but it's nice to finally have clear photos again!

I'm not sure when we'll ever get to playing Frostgrave... Maybe I'll get a campaign going in the fall... or, maybe I won't. I definitely want to play some Age of Sigmar soon and would very much like to get a Paths to Glory campaign going - that I hope will carry on into the fall!

I also want to get my Soulbound game going with my out-of-town buddies - AND might even want to try getting a SECOND going, in person...

So... not sure when Frostgrave might fit into that. Maybe it'll be a once-a-month thing...?

Or a "Maybe-Next-Year" thing...
