Voltar - Ven El Mundo Arder (2017) EN

Central America is not a place I associate with heavy and atmospheric post-rock. But maybe they should. Because from El Salvador there comes a real storm with guitars - Voltar.

The album title means "they watch the world burning" and it has to be stated that the sparks struck by the guitars' strings may set fire to a bunch of listeners' private worlds. The strings don't stop even for a while and the high pace is supported by very clear and loud drums. The music is even more interesting with occasional vocals, like the anthem-like ones in "Ven El Mundo Arder" or colourful keys in "Jaguar".

The whole thing creates "an atmosphere of euphoria and melancholy with accents of fury, history and inconformity" as the band describe. Looking through this list while listening to the album, I must say that there's nothing missing.

Kraje Ameryki Środkowej nie kojarzą się z ciężkim, atmosferycznym post-rockiem. A może powinny. Bo z Salwadoru nadciąga prawdziwa burza z gitarami, Voltar.

Tytuł płyty oznacza "obserwują płonący świat" i nie da się ukryć, że od iskier krzesanych przez gitarowe struny świat niejednego ze słuchaczy ma szansę stanąć w płomieniach. Te nie zatrzymują się ani przez chwilę, a wysokie tętno muzyki Voltar pomaga im utrzymywać bardzo wyrazista perkusja. Muzykę uatrakcyjniają okazjonalne wokale jak te euforyczne w tytułowym "Ven El Mundo Arder" czy kolorowe w brzmieniu klawisze in "Jaguar".

To wszystko tworzy obiecaną przez zespół atmosferę "euforii i melancholii z akcentami furii, historii i nonkonformizmu" jak pisze sam zespół. Przeglądając ten spis składników w trakcie słuchania dochodzę do wniosku, że niczego nie brakuje.
