Final Days Society - Firestarter (2020) PL

Grają razem już od 14 lat, niedawno wydali swoją czwartą płytę. Final Days Society tworzą "muzykę emocjonalną ze Szwecji" dla fanów A Swarm of the Sun czy Immanu El. Najnowsza ich płyta nazywa się Firestarter.

Zespół gra natchniony post-rock urozmaicony użyciem wrażliwego brzmienia wokalu, jak sami piszą o swojej muzyce, wyróżniają ją "palące warstwy gitarowych reverbów, ambientowy soundscape'y inspirowane ich szwedzko-indie-rockowym pochodzeniem i wyjątkowe użycie wokali". Czasem brzmi to jak przywołane wcześniej inne szwedzkie kapele, czasem (Aska!) jak Sigur Rós albo Var. Za każdym razem wrażenie robi ładunek emocjonalny zawarty w kompozycjach.

Co ciekawe, Szwedzi nie silą się na nie wiadomo jak głośne i masywne brzmienie. Pewnie ma to związek z pochodzeniem od indie popu. Używają go jedynie w wyjątkowych, godnych podkreślenia momentach (Far) czy w bardziej hipnotyzującej, monumentalnej wersji (2006). Można pokusić się o zaryzykowanie przepowiedni, że to jeden z najciekawszych post-rocków w tym roku.

Final Days Society - Firestarter (2020) EN

They play together for 14 years already and recently have released their fourth albums. Final Days Society create "emotional music from Sweden" for the fans of A Swarm of the Sun or Immanu El. Their newest album is called Firestarter.

The band play inspired post-rock infused with the use of the tender vocals, as they describe it, their music characterized by "searing layers of reverbed guitars, ambient soundscapes inspired by their Swedish indierock -pop roots and distinct use of vocals". Sometimes this sounds like the already mentioned Swedish bands, sometimes (Aska!) like Sigur Rós or Var. But every time in the way that inspires awe by the use of the emotional input within the compositions/

What's interesting, the Swedes don't usually try too much to achieve an uber laud and massive sounds. Maybe it's because of those indie pop origins. They use the sound only in special cases that are to be pointed out (Far) or in more mesmerizing, monumental version (2006). You could safely bet that this will be one of the more interesting post-rocks of the year.

Talk to Her - Love Will Come Again (2020) EN

Post-punk in various forms is not an often situation on this blog. So it's even better that it changes now because of the band that is only now debuting as Love Will Come Again makes the first LP by the Italian band Talk to Her.

This album talks "about love as an overwhelming power, a mystical experience of life that might be even the hardest". It's a guide through the process of falling in love, from the innocence to love confessions. No wonder that for a coldwave post-punk, in Talk to Her's music there's a ot of emotions. First of all conveyed by the extraordinary vocals. Also, each of the songs makes a cold banger, almost all of the melodies make you intuitively hum along and it's just another meta-commentary to falling in love.

The tracks that automatically get inside you are Truth, Hollow or the album's closure in the droning Confessions. But the most important thing is how good the album looks as a whole. And remember, it's just the debut.

Talk to Her - Love Will Come Again (2020) PL

Post-punk w różnych odsłonach nie pojawia się na tym blogu tak często, tym lepiej więc, że zmiany tego stan rzeczy zmusiła mnie kapela debiutująca dopiero, bo Love Will Come Again to pierwszy długogrający krążek w dorobku włoskiego Talk to Her.

Płyta traktuje "o miłości jako obezwładniającej sile, mistycznym doświadczeniem życia, które może nawet być najtrudniejszym". Jest wręcz podróżą przez proces zakochiwania się, od bycia niewinnym po miłosne wyznania. Nic dziwnego, że jak na zimnofalowy post-punk, w muzyce Talk to Her dużo jest emocji. Przede wszystkim słychać to w niesamowitym wokalu. Przy okazji każdy utwór to zimny banger, w zasadzie każdą melodię od razu się podśpiewuje, a to tylko dodatkowy metakomentarz do stanu zakochania.

Takie kawałki, które od razu zapadają w pamięć to Truth, Hollow czy zamykający całość, dronujący Confessions. Najważniejsze jednak jak dobrze pyta prezentuje się jako całość. A to, przypominam, dopiero debiut.
