Vivid Dreamer to duet z Belfastu, w którego skład wchodzą  Ryan McGroarty i Rocky O'Reilly. Muzycy stworzyli zespół żeby wyrazić "wszystko co kochają w robieniu muzyki: przygodę, ekscytację i opowiadanie historii". I słychać to na debiutanckiej płycie zatytułowanej po prostu Vivid Dreamer.

Ich muzyka to kosmiczny dream pop z łagodnymi wokalami, wyraźnym basem i hipnotyzującymi kompozycjami. Ma w sobie też dużo z trip-hopu (to pewnie te eteryczne bity w tłach) i ogólnie popu - taki This Is Not Living mógłby spokojnie robić za obowiązkową balladę na płycie którejś z gwiazdek r'n'b. Co najmniej równie ważna jest na krążku jednak też atmosfera. Rozmarzone melodie mienią się od klawiszy i dzwonków, co skutkuje takimi ładnymi fragmentami jak niespieszna końcówka Nine Four czy brzmiący jak tykanie zegara podkład w Sweet Light.

Kolejną wpadającą w ucho kompozycją jest Same Stars, natomiast zupełnie inną, a przy tym naprawdę dobrą What Are We Waiting For - z jej elektronicznie przekształconym wokalem i efektownym finałem. Ładne.

Vivid Dreamer - Vivid Dreamer (2020) EN

Vivid Dreamer is a Belfast-based duo consisting of Ryan McGroarty and Rocky O'Reilly. The musicians created the band to express "everything [they] love about making music: adventure, excitement and story-telling". And it shows on their debut album simply called Vivid Dreamer.

Their music makes a space dream pop with delicate vocals, clear bass line and mesmerizing compositions. There's also a lot from trip-hop here (it's probably those airy beats in the backgrounds) and pop in general - the track This Is Not Living could easily work as the obligatory ballad at the end of some r'n'b star's album. However, at least as important on this album is the atmosphere. Dreamy melodies sparkle with keys that results in such  beautiful fragments as the slow finish of Nine Four or the clock ticking-like backgrounds in Sweet Light.

Another catchy composition is Same Stars while there is also a completely different one - a great What Are We Waiting For with its electronically-modified vocals and impressive finish. Beautiful.
