My buddy nuttinface is one of my oldest friends and we have shared a lot of music over the years long before this internet thing ever took off. He doesn't spend much time around here because as the years have gone by our tastes have diverged a little bit, but he was the one who turned me onto bands like Exhorder, Violence, Forbidden, Pro-Pain, Pissing Razors, Dry Kill Logic, All Shall Perish and too many others to even mention. I asked him to create a list for 2013 because I knew he would throw some bands out there that most of the people who frequent The Death Chamber probably don't listen to but you never know what you may like if you don't try it. 1) Corpus Mortale (Dnk) - Fleshcraft ….this made #7 on my list last year, but it’s a 2013 release and the best!!!!

2) Deamon (Can) - Condemned to Darkness .awesome cd from a band I didn’t really care for previously.

3) Dead Awaken (Swe) - Where Hope Turns Dripping Red ..great new Swedish band, what a premiere cd.

4) Fleshdoll (Fra) - Feeding The Pigs ….awesome band, another in line of great stuff from this underrated band.

7) Facebreaker (Swe) - Dedicated To The Flesh ….consistent Swedes with awesome death / thrash.

8) Deformatory (Can) - In The Wake Of Pestilence …where did these guys come from?

9) Atomwinter (Ger) - Atomic Death Metal …same as above, awesome 1st release from these Germans.

10) Down Among The Dead Men (Int) – ST….Rogga Johansson + Dave Ingram = impossible to fail.

11) Ecocide (Hol) - Eye Of Wicked Sight…really great 1st release, give this great death metal a try.

12) Armagedon (Pol) – Thanatology….another good release from these guys, no surprise after their 2009 cd.

Disappointments....

Blood Red Throne (Nor) - S/T...complete disappointment at their change of direction, most disappointing release of the year, easily.

Pyorrhoea (Pol) - I Am The War...my second biggest disappointment, use to really like this band.

Banisher (Pol) – Scarcity…very disappointed at the progressiveness in this release, not near as good as previous releases.

Trauma (Pol) - Karma Obscura…total disappointment.

DarkRise (Che) – Realeyes… not a serious disappointment, not bad but just didn't scream to be played, so that disappointed me.

Demogorgon (Pol) - Where Is He ...really liked their first release, this one just didn't appeal to me, but I don't know why.

The Best of 2013 (The Death Chamber's 2000th Post)

Well it's that time again, another year has come and gone. 2013 probably wasn't a stellar year as compared to some, but looking back I continue to realize how fortunate metalheads are these days with so much to choose from, there are so many discs worthy of honorable mention this year. As usual I really struggle with what to leave off of my list. It's difficult to pare down the group to a manageable number so it doesn't just seem like I am recommending everything, but damn there have been some good releases. Just look at the offerings from established bands such as Pyrexia, Mortal Decay, Corpus Mortale and Centurian for example and then some of the new discs that haven't even had a chance to soak in yet like Asylium, Deformatory, Tennessee Murder Club, Mercyless and I am not even sure where to put Skinning since it leaked so early. I know that I have forgotten or overlooked a lot of other good stuff as well, so as always I am interested to hear what others think, enlighten us to some of your favorites as well. Here is to a brutal 2014. Cheers!
