This disc from back in the day was/is killer, and I am calling 16 years ago "back in the day." Usually back in the day would be 35 - 40 years ago. Thanks to defleshed for getting me to go back and listen to this one again.

This is a highly skilled band that I have mostly ignored over the years. Between their drummer, vocalist, and Christian Münzner on guitars, they have a ton of experience in various bands, and I have all of their LPs in my files, but I haven't listened much over the years. That has probably been a mistake because this album is very well constructed, and even though the screechy vocals aren't my favorite I still like the music a lot.

From what I can tell, this is a one-man project from Perth. The style is tagged as death metal/deathcore, but I don't necessarily hear a lot of "core." There are some quirky elements incorporated into the music, but I think it works quite well to create a heavy and entertaining vibe throughout.

This is another late release album from 2024 that is appealing to me. There is definitely a strong "core influence"  on display here but it really just sounds like modern death metal to me.

I saw these guys live twice back in the early part of the 2000s and both of the sets were killer, they were a very good live band with Trevor Strnad as a frontman. I haven't followed their releases closely since Everblack in 2013 but I like the new albums and feel that Brian Eschbach, who has been with the band as a guitarist since the beginning fills in admirably on vocals.

I am not sure why but Alluvial decided to change up their style to more of a "core-ish" djent sound for this EP. It is good but I personally prefer their progressive death metal persona over this.
