Foretold's Best of 2015

-Dr. Shrinker “Contorted Dioramic Pallette”
As a tapetrader, the impression that “Wedding the grotesque” demo left was: “When is the album coming” Finally that much awaited debut has come: pure simple catchy dm with the sick vocals that made their demo’s so essential!

-Degial “Savage Mutiny”
A band that carries the sound and spirit of the almighty Necrovore! Raw, evil and underground!

-Skeletal Remains “Condemned to Misery”
A fresh wind of air in a scene that’s dominated by Entombed wannabe’s, Incantation clones and faceless technical death metal or crappy slamming dm. A band that honours the glory days of Florida Death Metal!!!

-Never To Arise – “Gore Whores on the Killing Floor”
Well executed brutality from Florida! A band that deserves more attention for shure! Groovy, catchy dm with technical elements here and there!

-Praise The Flame “Manifest Rebellion”
Chile delivering the goods once again! Combining the elements older thrashing dm (Sadistic intent, Massacra) with US brutality, these guys will have a bright future for shure!

-Embrional “The Devil Inside”
Yes, they hail from Poland but have nothing in common with Vader or Behemoth. What do they deliver then, you may ask? Music that has the dynamics: slower, dissonant mid tempo parts with technical outburst without sounds sterile at all! It’s time for these guys to have more recognition!

-Viscral “Egocentric Underneath of Horror”
A mix of Suffocation with later Broken Hope? You bet!

-Gorelust “We are the Undead”
A worthy follow up to their debut album keeping their original sound! Nothing more to say of this outstanding release!

Abhorrent “Intransigence”
Technical dm that has it all: variety, tight musician ship, and enough room to let the riffs “breathe”.

Revulsed “Infernal Atrocity”
My album of the year! This album brings me back to the days in which almost every US band in the 90’s released such an album! It has slams, it has blasts, it has technical elements and it’s all placed in such a catchy way that after just 1 listening, this album will have you remembering it’s riffs!

The best mcd’s:

-Blasphemic Cruelty “Cricible of the Infernum”
A thrashier version of Angel corpse!

-Cryptopsy “The Book of Suffering (Tome 1)”
A mcd that I never thought it would be THAT good! The singer has improved alot, but still is the weakest element but those riffs: they have returned to that spastic writing that only Cryptopsy was known for!

-Nerlich “Eternity’s Gate”
DM straight from the heart without gimmics! Enough said!

-Blood Incantation “Interdimensional Extinction”
Eeery Immolation-sque haunting dm with refreshing lead work made with an raw production! Worth a listen!

The most disappointing album of the year:

Krisiun “Forged in Fury”
A band that once was known for its unlimited fury now delivers now recycled riffs, uninspired vocals and too much filler…..What happened?

Foretold's Best of 2014 List

So finally our friend Foretold steps up with his best of list for 2014 and he seemed to have no problem narrowing down the field and being very specific with his likes and dislikes. There are a few here that I didn't pay much attention to, so now I need to go back and listen. Thanks for the intel dude \m/\m/

*Best Death Metal Albums of 2014*

-Omnihility “Deathscapes of the subconscious”

Pure technical brutality and a huge step up from their debut album! They
are gonna release a new album in 2015 I can’t imagine how much brutal
things can get!

-Thy serpent’s cult “Sedition, sorcery and blasphemy”

The title says it all! It has a raw edge that and the sound ins’t as wanky
as a lot of releases these days! Very organic sounding DM and great solo’s:
what can I ask more?

-Atomic Aggressor “Sights of suffering”

A debut album after almost 30 (!!) years of existence! This kind of
death/thrash is the kind that you don’t hear much these days, and who could
play it better then veterans that were there in the 80’s?

-Embryonic Devourment “Reptilian agenda”

Not as hectic as their previous album but still great! Can’t understand why
this band is so overlooked by many!

-Decimation “Reign of the ungodly”

Very interesting album which sounds different from their last. It sounds
technical, dark and still very organic which is a real plus in my book!
Can’t wait to see these guys live!

-Morfin “Inoculation”

This band together with the godly Skeletal Remains reminds me of the
glorious days of the mighty Florida scene in the beginning of the 90’s! Not
the most original kind of music but it’s played with passion!

-Unauspraulichen Kulten “Baphomet pan shub niggurath”

Chile strikes once again! This album has what a lot of albums lack:
ATMOSPHERE! This band proves that you don’t need to be brutal by having
1000 blastbeats in a song! The album comes close to what I believe DM
should be: haunting, dark and obscure!

-Emeth “Aethyr”

This band has been there for a long time and deserves much more attention
then their country mates Aborted! They have certainly a sound of their own
IMO and hey: finally an album where the bass is prominent in the mix!

-Ingurgitating Oblivion “Continuum of absence”

Not as brutal as their 1st album, but much more diverse which is a good
thing! Again, this is not music for everyone but once take the time to
discover this music, you will have and album that you will repeat over and
over again!

-Gorgasm “Destined to violate”

One of the few albums that mixes brutality and technicality in a great way!
Nothing more to say about this gem!

*The best debut albums of 2014*

-Hate storm annihilation “Storm of hate”

Hate Eternal influenced blasting done in a convincing way! There’s a great
future in front of these guys!

-Resurrecting Judas “The eternal knot”

This band deserves more attention! They definitely have a sound of their
own and I can’t figure out why someone who likes Us Dm won’t like this
album!

-Annihilated “XIII steps to ruination”

A debut album yes, but made with members with a lot experience! Brutal DM
with interesting topics that avoid the usual lyrical clichĂ©’s!

-The infinite within “Bestial void inevitability”

Non stop technical blasting in the vein of old Origin! Not the most
original band and not the best produced album, but hey: it’s their first
album and things can only get better from now on!

-Sabbatory “Endless asphyxiating gloom”

Raw, oldschool played DM with a lot of Thrash influences. Nothing more to
say!

-Rude “Soul recall”

This band sounds like a modern version of Pestilence’s “Consuming impulse”!
Thrashy, raw DM played in the ways of old! What a horrible logo but what a
great music, haha!

*Disppointments of 2014*

Origin “Omnipresent”

It’s not bad, but not what I expected from them….

Massacre “Back from beyond”

This album was not bad at all, but it definitely has too much filler IMO.
If the album had 3 weak songs less, it would have been MUCH better! Still
great songs on it! Too bad that this legend has called it quits………..
