There was so much good music released in November of '24 and this new album by StabWounD is a perfect example of that fact. I was really into this band 10 years ago, but had mainly forgotten about them since they hadn't released anything other than a single in more than a decade. When CarlG mentioned them at the time this dropped I didn't listen to it right away, but I am thoroughly enjoying it now. Recommended!

I like this EP more than I thought I would. The band name gave me a core vibe, and there is some Boston hardcore mixed in, but there is also death metal and some nice riffs. Hell, even the cover of Live Wire is pretty cool.

Damn, so Abhorration is a relatively new band whose members all have a lot of experience with other bands. Based on this album, which is very new to me even though it is in my November '24 folder, these guys have created a true to form, grimy, old-school death metal aesthetic all the way from the album art and the logo to the look of the band and especially their sound. I immediately keyed in on the speed metal vibe to the lead guitarwork and the raw thrashy-ness of the music overall and then I realized that 2 members including the lead guitarist are from Black Viper and then I liked it even more. This is another quality album from 2024 that I am only now becoming aware of. Better late than never, right?

Back in 2020, this band caught me off guard with their debut Stuffing Puke into the Sockets, based on the album art and the title I was expecting something different but I was pleasantly surprised with the style of the album. When this new release appeared back in November I was like "hell yeah" but then I didn't listen to it until now and that was a huge mistake because this probably should've been in the top 20 for the year. These guys deliver a beatdown that is worth the bruises and broken bones.

Did anyone get into this disc a couple years back? I did, but I know that the metalcore tag turns a lot of people off even though I don't hear much core it's death metal just melodic at times and aggressive at others.

Here is another newer Spanish band that created a killer death metal album in 2024. A very tight band with catchy & heavy tracks, I really like the drum sound in this mix, and the ripping riffs and leads too. It is interesting how an aversion to Christ seems to breed so much great death metal but I don't think it was necessarily the man as much as it was/is the actions of the church.
