This album is a grower, I guess? I mean, I found this back in January, and I had started to listen to it a few times in the car while commuting, but it didn't hold my attention. Then today, I decided to listen to it again here in the house, and I am really liking their sound and style. So much so, that I am going to spend time on their 2012 album as well.

I wasn't really anticipating this album, and as such, didn't know what the band was going for with this release. My first impression upon listening was that this album had a very melodic, almost 80s heavy metal feel in several of the riffs. It reminded me of late 90s melodic Euro-death when the genre was going through a bit of an identity crisis. Then, I read up on the album and learned that a heavy metal feel was what the band was going for when they created these tracks. I'm not going to say that it works completely from start to finish, but overall, I like this album.

Back in 2020, this band caught me off guard with their debut Stuffing Puke into the Sockets, based on the album art and the title I was expecting something different but I was pleasantly surprised with the style of the album. When this new release appeared back in November I was like "hell yeah" but then I didn't listen to it until now and that was a huge mistake because this probably should've been in the top 20 for the year. These guys deliver a beatdown that is worth the bruises and broken bones.

Back in the early/mid 90's when I was making my first real foray into death metal it was bands from Sweden and Denmark whose music and style I connected with and started this part of the journey for me. EOS, ATG, Dark Tranquillity, Crown Of Thorns, Illdisposed, Autumn Leaves, Dominus, and Konkhra were my early favorites. There were 4-5 tracks on Spit Or Swallow that I used to play in a loop on my car stereo back in the day. I can admit that they have been a little hit or miss over the years but with this album and Alpha and the Omega in 2019 their past 2 albums have been quite good.

When I originally saw the melodic tag on this release I was a bit apprehensive about it but after listening to this album a few times now I really enjoy it and feel that the thrashy-ness works well with the melodic aspects of their style. I hear a lot of old Hatesphere here and it's killer!
