Demo Feature 
Tonight’s demo feature is a band from Winnipeg. They have a brand new 10” ep that I read a review on MRR’s site which described them as 

The impression of listening to the first couple of tracks was about DISORDER/CHAOS UK vibes but this also somehow has a F.Y.P. or Recess Records feel. Less punch or aggression, more garage punky, and sloppy, catchy (somewhat), and most importantly, fun. Artwork consists of pictures of a dump and with song titles like “We’ve Tried Nothing And We’re All Out Of Ideas” it sounds like trash in the most appropriate way possible. 

The recording is great and we’ll add a link to our blog tomorrow, but here is a demo recorded three years earlier.

Zine - Nerve #30

Issues 30 of Nerve Magazine has David Lee Roth on the cover. Unusual for Nerve but I think this was the time when he was leaving Van Halen to become a solo artist and was wearing flash dance clothes to fane like a new waver. Aside from a feature on David lee Roth, this issue also contains a piece on Fishbone, the Brunswick House, the Pig Paper, the New Jazz fest, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Hunters & Collectors, Woodentops, SST Records, and a column by Dave Bidini about L'Etranger and Vital Sines.

Nerve Magazine - November 1986

Nerve Magazine from November 1986 featured an interview with Iggy Pop. There is a features on Molly Johnson, Groovy Religion, Love and Rockets, Nick Cave, and Motorhead. There is regional reports on Hamilton. There is show reviews for REM, Doc and the Medics, and Camper Van Beethoven. There are release reviews for Shreikback, New Model Army, Elvis Costello, 7 Seconds, Change of Heart, Cowboy Junkies, Andrew Cash, and Suffer Machine. There is show listings as well.

Issue #29 of Nerve featured Skinny Puppy on the cover and was published in October 1986. This issue also featured pieces on Georgia Satellites, Run DMC, Daddy Cool, and Stompin' Tom Connors. This is Nerve #28 which features R.E.M. on the cover, which came out in September 1986. The issue also featured pieces on the House Martins, Ikons, Neon Rome, the CASBY Awards, and Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. There are regional reports on Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, London, and Montreal, music and show reviews and columns.

This is Nerve #27 which was published in August 1986. The cover story is the Meat Puppets. Other features include the Pogues, the Lawn, and Brian Taylor (YYY / Arg Rock). There are regional reports on Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, London, and Montreal, music and show reviews and columns.

Zine - Nerve #24

Nerve was a tabloid that published in Toronto. It was a music publication that had roots at CKLN. CKLN was the campus-community radio station out of Ryerson. This is issue #24 and was published in May 1986. This issue was the first magazine to feature the Beastie Boys on the cover. Also found in this issue are pieces on Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Level 42, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Zulu Records, an article on clubs in Toronto, Feargal Sharkey (of the Undertones), regional reports on Hamilton, Ottawa, London, and Montreal, music and show reviews and columns one of which was written by Jill Heath which was written about hardcore.
