Donnybrook - 25mm Polish Pancerni

For the Challenge this year I plan to paint up a Polish/Imperialist Donnybrook force to take on
the Ottoman Turks I painted in Challenge 11.

After a chat with Reject Richard during the summer, he said he had a few figures he found in a draw from a project that was never really started. When we finally met up after the Covid lockdown.
He presented me with 5 painted Pancerni figures from Old Glory!

He had originally painted up the whole pack of 10 figures, the other 5 have vanished!

What to do what to do?
Essex Miniatures came to my rescue, I bought another 5 figures and tried my very best to match them to Richard's paintjob

So my new army has its first unit and there's a few more to go, which will appear on my blog over the coming months.........I hope?

Cheers Ricardo!

AHPC VII Donnybrook - Drums along the Ohio - Woodland Indians

Another entry into the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, as you may well know I'm trying to paint up some Woodland Indians for my Donnybrook shenanigans. Being as I'm using these for the late 1600's, not the French Indian Wars of the 1750's, I wanted more warriors with handweapons. So I took a chance and bought these, not having seen them in the flesh before I didn't know how large they were compared to my other figures. They are on the larger side of 25mm. They do vary in height quite a bit, the smallest being around 32mm while the tallest a whopping 37mm! They fit in better with the larger Redoubt figures, not so much with my Perry and Warlord figures, but hey ho??

The figures are from the Drums in the Ohio Valley collection from Blue Moon, bought in the UK from Old Glory. I did buy another pack, they were delayed in the post and only arrived of last Friday, (gotta be honest, I'd forgotten all about them!!!) They won't make the painting table in time for the Challenge, but never mind, maybe next year.......or not?

Anyway they may well be a little larger than the norm, but I really do like the action poses on these all bar one, who looks as though he's from another pack?
These bad boys made gave me another 60 points to add to my total, pushing me back up the charts to No32, although now I back down to no 36!

RP No141 Old Glory Taliban Insugents

A couple of months ago I can't remember why?? I agreed to paint up these Old Glory Taliban Insurgents for my former work pal Francis Ignatius Lee. aka The Angry Licker. He's been moaning like a biatch at why I haven't painted them yet, like he's gonna use them????
So I finally caved in and got the brush out, these are the first figures (apart from the recent buildings) I've painted since early June, I can't say I enjoyed painting the little buggers but it was great actually painting again. I did paint some other Taliban figures for his highness back in July last year, here . HRH was supposed to leave a few of the figures in the box with the unpainted ones so I could try and match them in, but of course he didn't, so after a quick search on his blog, adding more unnecessary bloody hits to the Lickers blog, I found the figures and had to match them from them, the useless Git!

The figures are from Old Glory's Fireforce 15 Irregulars and Insurgents range, I gotta admit I love the motorbikes! Unfortunately Fran wanted to base the figures himself, so before he ruins them I thought I'd post a few pics.

RP No68 East Siberian Rifle Divisions RJW

This fine lot of troops were entered into the Analouge Painting Challenge in mid March, netting me 1152 points, getting me into reaching distance of Sir Kent. The figures represent two East Siberian Rifle Division's, the 1st and the 9th. Both the Divisions fought in many of the major battles of the Russo-Japanese War. The figures are mainly from Old Glory, with a few Irregular thrown in for good measure.
I was accused of sandbagging:
"Sandbagging: in billiards and other games, deliberately playing below one's actual ability in order to fool opponents into accepting higher stakes bets, or to lower one's competitive rating in order to play in a future event with a higher handicap and consequently have a better chance to win.

Which, was of course absolutely correct!!!
These have since joined the masses in Posties collection, locked away until he sorts the rules out!!!
