AHPC9 HYW Cheshire Archers

Another entry into the Challenge from a different period, I really should have entered
the Squirrel Dual!!!

These 16 figures from Wargames Foundry have already flown the nest to their new
home next door at Casa Postie!

They are HYW archers painted up in the livery of the men of Cheshire.

They were a joy to paint to be honest, I wish all figures were this easy!!
These 16 figures should earn me 80 points to add to my total.
Getting worried about that dodgy Irishman Fran, he's gaining fast!!!

AHPC9 25mm Medieval London Slingers

I should have entered the Squirrel Duel with all the different periods I'm painting up!!!
Postie asked for a muted palette, so that's what he got!

These 24 figures are the London slingers who were in the army of Simon de Montfort, during
the Barons Wars which was fought between 1264-65.

The Slingers fought at the Battle of Lewes in 1264

The figures are from Essex Miniatures and could be used for any
Medieval army.

There are 24 figure in this post making a very nice 120 points!

AHPC 9 Bonus Round "Water Feature" - Royal Navy Landing Party

Its Bonus Round time once again. This week the theme is "Water Feature"
I was going to paint up a Native American canoe or a few empty 15mm boats, I mentioned it
to Postie. who had a lightbulb moment.
Hence these boats...

I gave him these two Napoleonic Landing boats a few years ago, I think I bought them
on ebay??

So I'm unsure of who makes them?
They could be AB???

There are 19 x 15mm figures
1 x small gun
and of course the 2 boats

They're based on stiff card, that I stuck a few lolly pop sticks to, to stiffen the base
up even more. Then they're coated in pollyfilla, to create the wave effect.
Hopefully they won't warp?

I thought they'd be easy to paint gluing the figures in place on the boats first.

Oh how wrong I was!!!!

It took me double the time to paint these as it should.

But I'm pretty pleased with the results.

So that should be
38 for the figures
2 for the gun, its not that big really....Oi, none of that either!!
16 for the boats
50 bonus points
106 in total???

You can still vote for any of the great entries here, if you so wish??

AHPC9 WSS 25mm 22nd Foot Handayd's

Here's my entry into the AHPC9 for this week, lots of War of the Spanish Succession goodness!

I've been painting like a demon the last couple of weeks, 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there.
And I've got this lot done, If only I could paint mine as quick all year round!!
Theses are once again for his nibs next door, von Postie, the evil one.
He has a Pirate collection that he bought from Reject Fran before he buggered off back to Ireland. Postie wanted some Government troops to add to the collection.
I chose the 22nd foot circa 1708 for him, as they were stationed in the West Indies at the time.

"On the outbreak of the War of the Spanish Succession in 1701, the regiment was posted to Jamaica; this was a notoriously unhealthy location and Sir Henry Belasyse transferred his Colonelcy to William Selwyn. The regiment spent the next twelve years in the West Indies; soon after arrival in April 1702, Selwyn died and was replaced by Thomas Handasyad, both as Colonel and Governor of Jamaica. Thomas returned to England and was succeeded as Colonel by his son Roger Handasyd in 1712, a position he retained until 1730."

8 x Muskettmen

8 x Musketmen, 1 x Leader and 1 x Drummer

8 x Musketmen, 1 x General, 1 x Drummer, 1 x Standard bearer and handpainted St Georges flag.
Which was actually and old French flag painted over. I wanted to paint the cantons yellow,
but Postie wouldn't let me!!!

Another 8 x Musketmen

The rest of the 7  Officers, including the blue coated Guvvnor himself

The mounted Guvnor and his bodyguard

So all in all we have 43 foot and 3 mounted. Which should give me a total of
245 points! I wasn't going to base these, Postie was going to do it himself, but after working out
what I'd loose points wise I based them up for him for free!!! For Free!!!
My luvvly Minion, fellow Reject Lee gave me an extra 2 points for the flag, the
generous soul that he is! Taking my total to 247 points, this leapt me up the chart to the
 dizzy heights of No 11.

AHPC9 25mm Celtic Horse & 15mm Wagoneers

For my 2nd entry into the Challenge I painted up a few figures for the the evil one, Postie!!
Firstly we have 7 x 25mm Wargames Foundry Gaelic Horse for Posties Roman v Celt armies.

Postie did have decals that he wanted me to stick on, now me and decals just don't get on.
Its something to do with my sausage fingers and no patience....
SO I had to paint the shields as well, I'm quite happy with how they turned out, especially the blue and red one, third from the right.

I should have earned 70 points for these, but Postie based them, so I thought I'd loses a few points. But that rotter Lee took 10 points off!!!  So only 60 points were awarded.

And keeping to Ancients we have 12 x 15mm Essex figures
They're actually Essex minis Pack RO44 Roman artillerymen but Postie wants them
as wagonneers or extra artillrymen.

Gotta admit they were a doddle to paint up.....as you can see!

So 12 wagoneers should've got me 24 points, but once again I didn't base them, so Lee only
gave me 18 points! Tight git!
So all in all 78 points were added to my total.

Blow that Trumpet!

There's not a lot going on at Reject HQ at the moment what with the kids off school and holidays abroad!! I've read a few bloggers complaining its too hot to paint, which I totally agree with. Us Brits are such wimps when it comes to the weather!

Anyhoos, Blowin' that Trumpet time..........Postie came round the other day with my copy of Miniature Wargames, (he's a good boy, really, he collects it for me each month!)
He was very pleased to see his WWI Reject game the Battle of Marchais en Brie 1914 (link) that we displayed at Broadside wargames show back in June had made the mag. Not only a great photo, but also a very complimentary write up by John Treadaway !
So thanks John and a very well done to the Evil Umpire himself von Postie!

The Battle of Roye 27th March 1918 - WWI Batrep

Hello it's me Postie, I've hi-jacked Ray's blog once again to present our most recent game.
Ray was up in London looking at the Poppies in the Tower so couldn't make the game, but he typed all this out because I'm an illiterate sod!
(Postie's digging his nails in my head as I type!! ouch!)

Kaiserschlacht (Emperor's Battle) is well underway, British and French forces are falling back under the weight and speed of the German offensive. In some areas the front line doesn't exist anymore and so reserve positions are now the front line. French troops resting in Roye are informed that a small German force has broken away from the main attack is is now heading for them.

The Game
The French caught on the hop must try to stop the German advance with whatever troops they can gather together, urgent messages are being sent to any units in the area, to make their way to Roye with all due hast.
German hopes of success are high, the French hope that all the German Tanks break down!!!!

OOB

German

5 A7V Tanks
2 captured Male and Female British tanks
2 Stormtrooper units 6 figures each
2 Cavalry regt's 10 figures each
2 Lorries
1 Heavy Machine gun + crew
1 Light Machine Gun + crew
1 Infantry Battalion 12 figure
1 Flame-thrower figure
1 Battery of Artillery 1 gun + crew
1 Brigade Officer
1 Divisional Officer

French

2 Renault FT17 Tanks
2 Schneider Tanks
2 St Chamond Tanks
1 Cavalry regt 10 figures
3 Infantry Battalions 12 figures each
2 Light Machine Guns + crew
1 Heavy Machine Gun + crew
2 Lorries
2 Batteries of Artillery 2 Guns + crew
1 Car
1 Brigade Officer
1 Divisional Officer
4 Heavy Howitzers + crew

The French troops in Roye await the German onslaught!!!

The French troops look worried as the German Tanks approach.

Start your engines boys!!!!

Casualties from an earlier air-raid are evacuated.

The Howitzer crews abandon their guns, and fall back to the town, as the enemy
are too close to fire upon.

The German view of Roye.

Excuse me Sir....what are them shiny things coming our way??
Obviously said in French!

John the French CnC rushes to take command of the situation.
Missing his lunch consisting of Bread, Brie and plenty of Vin Rouge!

Have they moved the bloody hospital again??

An aerial view of Roye.

German tanks thunder down the road...............

as well as the dreaded Stormtroopers and Poor Cavalry!!!

John's lone FT17 ventures out of the town to take on the Hun......the fool!!

They kept a rolling.......just!

John sends out a truck to re-inforce the FT17!!!
WTF????

Is that a truck??

Surj getting on top of the situation!!!

Hhhmmm?

John gets his Tanks out 123 all 3 go up in flames due to great dice rolling from the Hun!

Huzzzaaahh!
John finally gets a hit, and takes out a A7V.

The French CnC fools the Hun into thinking the lorries had Machine guns in them.

French Infantry re-enforcements arrive to hopefully stem the German flow.

Amazingly the German tanks are still moving forward, none have broken down yet.
Every odd turn they had to test for Mechanical Reliability
Throw 2 D6 and don't throw over an 8 or you could either break down for a number of turns or break down for the rest of the game.

The German's quite wisely dis-mount their cavalry.

The killing ground....... Boom!
Poor John!

Nearly there!!

The German's slaughter the French defenders and take the trench.

What was left of the French Cavalry run for cover!!!

Its going bad for the French, a Schneider breaks down for 6 turns, effectively
taking it out of the game.

Roye falls...

The last remaining French tank that was still operable goes up in flames, (far left, top of pic)
At this point, the final turn had been reached, Victory points were then worked out
The Germans gained 9 points
the French only 5 points.
So the German's were victorious!
Well done to Surj and Dave!!

Dave won the award for most kills of the day and looked
pretty pleased with himself!

Hope you liked the report
Postie.
