SELWG Swag 2021

Just a quick post today, showing you my haul of goodies I picked up at SELWG the week before last.

My first purchase of the day we're the two building on either side of the pic, from the Bring & Buy for a tenner. They need a little tlc, but that shouldn't take too long. They're made from what looks like resin then glued together? Not sure who makes these? Any ideas anyone?

I've been after both of the books for a while, the Osprey was a no brainer of course and the other I've had saved on Amazon for over a year, but never took the plunge. But for £8 how could I resist?

Dice from Coritani, to add to the collection. Just need to throw them in anger now!

Army Painter Ink, I have experimented in making my own, but they just don't seem to match the quality for AP....sigh!

Lots of scenery items from Iron Gate Scenery.  I won one of their building a few years ago, in a competition and have been watching there ever expanding ranges grow. I bought a boat, a prison wagon and a forge set amongst other things. So look out for them in the Painting Challenge in December.

I bought some Reiver Castings figures from Rob at Northumberland painting Service, some Austrian Cuirassiers for my Vienna project using Donnybrook (as if you didn't guess?) I meant to buy some Grenadiers as well, but it completely slipped my mind? Must be getting old?

Finally I was a bit miffed with Warlord Games, they who along with Skytrex are now selling Trent Miniatures after the sad passing of Duncan McFarlane. They had a few packs from some of the ranges up for sale, so I picked up a four packs and nearly fell over when told the price. A pack of 8 figures had gone up £4!!! "The price of lead has gone up" the trader explained! I had to stop myself from saying "well you know where you can stick them then don't ya?"
But after I'd calmed down, I had to go skulking back and buy some of the original packs I'd picked up, because I needed these to match in with units I've already got.
Obviously I do understand that the ranges had to be bought from Duncan's estate and then made, but a 35% price hike is taking the pi$$!
I do need a few more packs to finish off the units I have already, but will have to seriously think about expanding the armies anymore after that, which is a shame.
Moan over!

Salute Loot 2019

For the first time ever I went to Salute with no list and no pre-orders. I thought I'd wing it for a change? My first purchase was at Col Bills where I took full advantage of their 4Ground sale, buying 4 Dutch buildings in 25mm. I then bought the extension floors from 4Ground.

I'm trying to tidy up in my shed (yeh right!) So I bought these 2 trays for 4L really useful boxes.

3 books from Paul Meekins, I may well have another Donnybrook excursion??
Or perhaps a Rebels & Patriots one???

Lastly this rather meager amount of lead!
Ravens from warbases
A Crann Tara Limber and artillery piece from Col Bill
A campfire set from ??? Can't remember?
And finally some Goats and chickens from Pendraken's new animal range

And there ends my Loot post!

Cavalier 2019 Swag

I thought I'd share some pics of the swag I collected at Cavalier in Tonbridge a few weekends ago.
Firstly 3 great books from Helion and Company.
I've had my eye on Armies and Enemies of Louis XIV since it came out, I've already got a few books of Killicrankie, but NEEDED this one too, you know how it is??
Finally the new book on the Dutch, its a bit too early for my period really but hey ho, another must, I'm afraid!!

My usually visit to Col Bills and I came away with these  5 15mm MDF buildings
from 4Ground. The Col is discontinuing the range at the moment, so grab them while you can.
Stuart mentioned he may not bring them to shows anymore, so pre-order if you need any!

More goodies from Col Bill, on the left is a new pack of Limber horse riders, so I bought 2 more horses and something to pull, I'm sure I've already got the wagon, but you can't have too many wagons, can you???

A bit blurry I know, but I needed a fix from Essex minis.
More NYW!!!

Loads of 15mm building
Sorry guys I can't remember the club name, but they were sadly selling off there founders collection
of figures and building, to raise some money due to his illhealth.
I believe most of these buildings are for railways, but I thought they'd be great for Flanders during the Nine Years War. They're nearly all made of plastic and most were made in West Germany!! So they've been around for a while!!
There were another 5 or 6 building, we think from JR, they've all vanished next door, round Posties
never to be seen again!!!

Some need a bit of care and attention, but should look great with a little restoration.

I'm toying with three ideas??

1. To base them all up individually
2. To make them into town with 4-5 buildings on each large base.
3. Not base them at all and leave them as they are?

Any thoughts???

I spent far too much as you can see, but had a damn good day!!

SELWG Swag

Myself, Postie, Dave and Oliver  headed up the A2 this morning to attend SELWG 2018.
Unlike our fellow Reject BigLee!!!
It was an excellent show and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but more on the actual show later
in the week.

My collection of Swag was unusually for me rather tame to say the least. But I'm happy
with my purchases!!!
Which were 6 Really Useful Box inserts from Commission Figurines, which in my opinon are really great value for money at £3 each!

From Col Bill's, their new pack of figures C17th Century Prisoners and Guard.
I think these will be a very useful addition to my ever growing Donnybrook madness.

Oh gawd.....more stuff for Donnybrook.
Some Reiver Castings Cavalry, I've been a busy boy over the summer collecting
a new army faction for Donnybrook, most of the figures were bought painted, but I need these chaps to finish them off. More on these boys during the next Analougue Painting Challenge.

An Officer/Hero figure for the above mentioned army again from Reiver,
I had a great chat with Rob the current top dog at Reiver and Northumbrian Painting Services, they're releasing some great looking Scanian Wars figures at the moment, go check them out.

I picked up  a bargain from the Bring & Buy, 5 x 25mm tents again for errrrr......
Donnybrook and lastly a 25mm light artillery piece from Simon at Parkfield Miniatures, for you guessed it Donnybrook!

Salute Loot!!!

I didn't think I bought that much, but it seems as though I did!?!
I've finally had the chance to rifle through my goody bags last night, to see what I bought during Salute 2018.

Three books from Cavalier, all for THE period. I probably don't need these as I've got pretty much
all the info I need, but.............

My first ever purchase from Crooked Dice.
Some pretty cool terrain items.

A show wouldn't be a show without my fix of Essex minis.
Just a few packs of Cavalry command for the NYW

Flock!

A free gift from fellow Blogger Bob Cordery.
I've always quite fancied the Spanish Civil War??

Tools from Bicorne, for Sedgemoor figures and the like.

Ah Gawd!
Another offshoot for Donnybrook
Scots!

Two Highlander Officers from Crann Tara minis

Character figures from Warlord, maybe be a bit small me thinks??

Woof!

A very nice little collection of counters from Warbases.

Redoubt figures from Col Bill

More Highlanders this time from Dixon

I also bought some pre-painted Redoubt Highlanders from Grubby Tanks, so all in all
a rather large selection!

SELWG Swag

Just a quick post today, I'll hopefully get a SELWG post up in the next few days. but
here's my swag. For the first time in years I bought something from the Bring & Buy.
Some 25mm tents and 15mm defensive terrain pieces.
20 odd ECW figures from Redoubt minis, 4 packs of ECW
figures from Empress, 2 packs from Bicorne and a poor chap with his head
chopped off being roasted on a spit!!

Yeah I know!

Salute Loot 2017

Finally got around to posting my Salute Loot!!
I didn't do half bad, my first purchase were 3 packs of torches from Midlam miniatures. One day they will be added to some figures, ready to set a village alight!!
I had a chat with Martin at Warbases, who showed me his new Roman range, some of the new buildings are quite something, check them out if you've any 28mm Romans. I bought 3 packs of animals to go with the ones I bought a few years ago, and 3 of the new Roman wagons, these will be added to my Donnybrook collection.
I collected a pack of Redoubt Woodland Indians from Col Bill and Belt Fed girl that I'd pre-ordered.
After having a chat with Barry & Toggy on the Warfare Minis stand I bought some mounted French Dragoons, now I already own some Dragoons from different manufacturers, but liked the models so thought why the heck not!
On impulse I also splashed the cash at Sally 4th's stand, buying "The Ancient Souk" market place, once again with Donnybrook in mind, Tangiers here I come again, or it would do just as well in England or Flanders. I also bought 2 packs of tents from Sally 4th....you guessed it, Donnybrook again.
Now my actual plan for te show was to buy some more woodland Indians and have a search for some early Settlers/Militia types for Bacon's Rebellion, So I picked up a pack of figures from Reiver Castings, they may be a tad late but I think they'll do. which brings me on to my last 2 purchases.
Painted figures!!
I can't remember the last time I bought painted figures??

Grubby Tanks were flogging Injuns for £3.50 a pop, so I helped myself to the above, 3 Musket Indians and 3 Commanders.

Hmm? 12 Handweapon chaps!

 and 12 more bowmen!!

And.......I ummed and erdd about these chaps, once again they're Redoubt figures, which I was
looking at not 5 minutes before I bought these painted chaps. There were more but these 12 ECW musketeers and 1 leader will be the start of my American/Settler types!
Hoorah!

Cavalier 2017 Swag

A couple of photos of my swag I managed to collect at Cavalier last weekend.
I picked up a few copies of Arquebusier from the Help the Heroes stand, and few packs of
tufts for Debris of War, and a few bases from Products of War.
Bob Cordery of Wargames Miscellany fame, gave Postie and myself a copy of his newly
published ruleset, "The Portable Wargame".
I've only had a quick flick at the moment, but I like what I see!
If you're interested in Bob's rules, click this link!

Cavalier is always time to pick up a few paints.....although I forgot to get the
silver I needed!! Idiot!
I picked up a few different flesh colours, its a bit late now as I've already
painted most (a lie of course) of my Woodland Indians.
I did have a list of figures I wanted to buy from Redoubt, but somehow I lost it?
So I picked up these few packs to add to my collection, hoping they were the ones I
actually wanted, the plan is to get these painted
for the Challenge, but with only 15 days left, I've got no bloody chance!
Oh well, there's always next year!

PS. When I got home I found the list I'd lost, in the bag I'd put my new
paints in.............sigh!

SELWG Swag, better late than never!

Can't believe its taken me over a week to get some pics taken of my SELWG Swag!!!
Tut Tut!
The above figure Col Bill's Moll Cutpurse was a gift from that very nice Fudge
 eater Sir Clint of Gillingham.
She's a healthy girl that Moll!
Cheers Clint!

A few packs of North Stars 1672 range.
A pack of French Dragoons, King Louis and how could I not resist D'Artagnan!

From Ainsty Castings - Artillery equipment &
Col Bill's new figures C17th Century Villagers.
So new they're not even on their website yet!!

Why oh why oh why??

More offshoots for Donnybrook!
Bacon's Rebellion and King William's War in America?!?!
Redoubt Indians

These were a must from Col Bill.
From Old Glory English Marines....sigh!

From Foundry....Lazy Luther Road Workers
technically for the SYW, but they'll do for me as NYW!

 Oh dear.....more Indians!!!
From Foundry

First thing I've bought from a Bring and Buy for a while.
Don't really need it, it just took my fancy??

Last but not least. More 15mm Essex NYW figures!!!!
