AHPC15 - Retreat from Moscow - 4th Wurttemburg Infantry

The Retreat from Moscow project is coming along nicely. Here we have an 8 figure detachment from the 4th Wurttemberg regiment, that was part of Ney's Third Army, 25th Division, under Brigadier von Hugel.

There are a few companies that make some superb Wurttemberg figures, but alas none of them are in the much needed greatcoats!!

Some some drastic action was required!!!

I bough a few packs of Wargames Foundry French in greatcoats and in true French fashion began chopping off heads!! Replacing them with heads from the old Connoisseur range, now sold by Bicorne Miniatures.

I didn't want to use all the Foundry figures otherwise they would all look the same, so I included 3 plastic Perry figures and one Perry metal figure. I also added a scarf in the 4th facing colours to the only marching figure.

So onto the points...
Pretty simple this one, 8 x 25mm figures at 5 points each
40 points
And if I'm lucky Teemu might give me a few extra points for the conversion work???

Teemu did, he gave me an extra 2 points taking my total to 42pts, putting me in 23rd place at the time of posting on a total of 170 points, (I'm now in 29th as of today)

AHPC 12 - Vulcan - Prince Rupert and Boy 20pts

Believe it or not I have been very busy with the brush since the start of the Challenge, but like the twat I am, I started too many things at once, so I've not got a lot finished....Sigh!

Vulcan: Something Logical; Pointy Ears

I suspect as most of you know, I don't do a lot of fantasy of Sci Fi, but do have a small collection of figures just for the Challenge, BUT, I thought I'd go a bit left field.

My first entry into Challenge 12 is a 25mm Bicorne figure representing King Charles' nephew Prince Rupert and his dog Boy. I've got a crazy yearning to do a small (yeah right) ECW army for Donnybrook, based on one of the smaller skirmishes that Rupert was involved in. So I thought I'd start with the main man himself. Whether or not anything else gets painted is another story.

Prince Rupert didn't have pointy ears, nor did his Poodle Boy, but his horse sure did!

Just look at them ears!!! Pointy or what????

So there we have it, and I managed to get this post in before the end of the year too.

10 points for the mounted Prince Rupert
2 points for Boy?
20 Bonus points for Vulcan

Total of 32 points!
Well that's what I thought but Curt was being mean and didn't like my pointy ears!
I was only awarded 20 points.......booooooo!!!

Salute Loot 2021

Its lucky I've entered another Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.
Where would I have found the time to paint this lot up otherwise?

Above Debris of War Grass Tufts
You can never have enough tufts!

25mm round bases from Warbases
Need I say more?

Dead and Prisoners figures from Col Bill, got something in mind for these chaps already

A pre-order from Warfare minis!

Cossacks, Imperial Cuirassiers and new commanders.

Do I need more commanders?
Or do I want more commanders?

Hmmm more new command figures, this time from Reiver/Northumberland Painting Services . Commanders and characters for my Austian/Imperialist troops????

Polish Winged Hussars and Pancerni from Redoubt Enterprises!!!!!!!

These are really nice figures, can't wait to get them painted.

And finally a 6 x 4 cloth mat from Geek Villain!
I've been after a mat of some kind for a while, we got a bargain , me and Lee bought a mat each and got a little discount.

And that's your lot!

Salute Loot!!!

I didn't think I bought that much, but it seems as though I did!?!
I've finally had the chance to rifle through my goody bags last night, to see what I bought during Salute 2018.

Three books from Cavalier, all for THE period. I probably don't need these as I've got pretty much
all the info I need, but.............

My first ever purchase from Crooked Dice.
Some pretty cool terrain items.

A show wouldn't be a show without my fix of Essex minis.
Just a few packs of Cavalry command for the NYW

Flock!

A free gift from fellow Blogger Bob Cordery.
I've always quite fancied the Spanish Civil War??

Tools from Bicorne, for Sedgemoor figures and the like.

Ah Gawd!
Another offshoot for Donnybrook
Scots!

Two Highlander Officers from Crann Tara minis

Character figures from Warlord, maybe be a bit small me thinks??

Woof!

A very nice little collection of counters from Warbases.

Redoubt figures from Col Bill

More Highlanders this time from Dixon

I also bought some pre-painted Redoubt Highlanders from Grubby Tanks, so all in all
a rather large selection!

AHPC VII Donnybrook Pioneers/Sapper

For my 6th entry into the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, you'll all be
surprised that I've gone all Donnybrook again??

Never?

I've been beavering away getting some Pioneers or Sappers or just plain workmen painted up.
The first 6 figures plus equipment are not Nine Years War figures (Shock Horror!)
They are infact a lovely ECW set from Bicorne Miniatures, that'll cost you only £8
to buy unpainted. I've painted them up in a variety of colours, so they could be for
either side in my Donnybrook skirmish games.

The second set of 10 figures are from Reiver Castings, they are painted up with the green
troos and stocking for Kirke's regt. But once again could be used for any side during the war.
They could even be added to a Civilian Mob, or added to other troops to make a Rebel unit for Sedgemoor.

Lastly, are 3 figures and some equipment from Dixon Miniatures.
The Engineer from a previous entry is also included in this pack.

And here they all are in a group shot.
19 figures, 2 wheelbarrows, 2 barrels, piles of wood and a discarded coat.......
Miles my Monday Minion gave me 100 points for this collection giving me a grand
total of 290 points, lifting me up the charts to 52 place!

I've added the Pioneer Engineer in this pic, he was entered into the Challenge last month
and is included in the pack from Dixon.
