New painted units for NYW

Prince George of Hessan-Darmstadt Regt

In between painting my megalomaniac mate Postie's Napoleonic figures, I managed to squeeze in a few units of my own figures for my new NYW army . I don't get a great deal of time to paint my own figures, money talks!, so its taken me a couple of months to get some units done.
The first new unit painted is Charles Churchill's regiment circa 1688, also known as The Holland Regiment or the Buffs. Later in its history it was numbered the 3rd Foot in the British establishment.
The second painted unit was commanded by Prince George of Hessen-Darmstadt, who took over the regiment from Philip Babbington in 1691. The unit later became the 6th foot.
The third unit is Mackay's, commanded by Hugh Mackay, which was part of the Scots Brigade and was in Dutch service. Also I painted up 4 artillery pieces, 2 Heavies and 2 Mediums, the battalion guns are to come later , when I but them.
The flags in the photos for Prince George's and Mackay's can be found in previous postings on my Blog.
Hope you like the figures, comments welcome!

More of Mackey's Regt

I wasn't that happy with the Scottish saltire with coat of arms version of Mackay's flag I made in the previous post. So I again looked at the lovely photo's on The League of Augsburg website and decided to try and make the same flag Barry used for his Mackay's Regt. All I did was find the coat of arms for the name Mackay on a google link and with a little work tranfer it onto a flag template. Hope you all like it & please use the flag for your own armies if you so wish. If you do use any of my flags please let me know and send me some pics, just so I can gloat.....
Comments appreciated

Mackay’s Regiment Flag

On my workbench at the moment sits a half painted unit for my British army for the Nine Years War. Mackay’s Regiment. I needed a break from painting, my neck was killing me, so I moved onto the units flag, which like most for the period, is not known. I liked the look of the flag used by Barry on the League of Augsburg site, Link it looks like a flag used by the Stuart’s of Atholl in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, so I used that idea. For the second flag I used a Scottish saltire white on blue and added a coat of arms for the name Mackey, I think it looks quite effective. But for the total purists among you, it my cause a nosebleed, sorry!

If you want to paint the unit up and have no flag, copy this one with my best wishes.

Hugh Mackay’s regiment was part of the Anglo-Dutch brigade and fought at the following battles:

Killiecrankie 1689, Aughrim 1691, Leuze 1691, Steenkerque 1692 where Hugh Mackay was killed, Landen/Neerwinden 1693 & Namur 1695.
