Donnybrook - Vienna 1683 - Polish Artilley

These figures were prepped and undercoated for me to paint up in the last Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge. Unfortunately they didn't make it. They were sitting on my desk looking all forlorn, so I thought I'd better give them a lick of paint.

For some reason I had a lot of trouble finding Polish artillerymen for my Vienna 1683 project, no one except Old Glory seems to make them?  And I certainly didn't need 30 figures!

All the figures bar one are from Essex Miniatures, the chap on the left drinking a bottle of Mrs Migginski's finest Vodka was a freebie from The Assault Group. I didn't know how I was going to use the figure, so decided he'd make a good artilleryman.

I had to use a Spearman, Standard Bearer and Halbardier  from Essex's Renaissance Polish range to make up the 4 crew of my gun and a spare Polish Officer, I bought just incase and also another commander, this one dressed in western uniform. The gun is actually a British Napoleonic piece standing in as Polish, shhhh don't tell anyone.

AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Polish High Command

My very last post for Challenge XII and not a badger or sandbag in sight!
A big thank you has got to go to Curt, Sarah and all the excellent minions, especially Greg, the Wednesday Minion. And a big congrats to all my fellow Challengers for helping pull me along during the challenge with all your works of art and comments.
Thank you everyone!

For my last post I have a selection of Polish High Command figures.
All based up on 50mm round bases.

Both these figures are from The Assault Group and come from the Janusz "the black" Radziwill, Grand Hetman of Lithuanian, pack

The flag comes from the website of Alex Pil, which for some reason I can't find anymore???

They shall be used as the Hero and Standard Bearer in Donnybrook.

#

They both painted up pretty easily and cleaned up very nice, unlike the infantry.

Rear shot

One last pic!

Of both of them.

Now the other 3 figures.
All are from Essex Miniatures

This Commander isn't really a commander, he's actually a Kettle Drummer minus the drums.
I thought he'd make a great looking commander and I think I'm right?

This isn't a commander either, he's a King!
King Wladyslaw IV 1595-1648 in fact.
So truthfully he's a little early, but he's still a great looking figure and fits in perfect.

My least favourite of all the command figures, but we can't all look good can we?

And the rear of the year award goes to......

Two great horse on the left and middle, But the right hand horse doesn't really go with the rider, in my opinion? But that's all I had.

Also we have 3 foot leaders.
The first figure on the left is from the same pack as the 2 mounted TAG figures above.

The other 2 figures are from Essex Miniatures. These 3 will be spare leaders and/or will be command figures, if I ever get anything else painted up.

50pts for the 5 mounted figures
15 points for the 3 foot figures
Makes a total of 65 points.

AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Polish Guard Haiduks

Its not long to go, I can't believe its gonna be the end of the Challenge soon, (its already ended, I'm just behind on my posts!) where did the time go?
For this entry I'm posting my last unit for my Polish/Imperialist army for the siege of Vienna in 1683,

Here we have the 8 figure Guard Haiduk regt, along with a commander and two standard bearers.

All figures are from The Assault Group, apart from the Commander on the left, he's a figure from Essex Miniatures. You may notice the lack of muskets?
Who needs a gun when you can have a massive chopper?

The Guards carried halberds instead.

Rear pic, just encase I only painted the front of the figures.

The flag on the right comes from the same source as I've previously copied in and the flag on the left is from Alex Pil's flag site that I can't find anymore?

11 figures @5pts

55 points!

AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Polish Haiduk No2

For this post I've painted up my second Polish Haiduk regt for my Vienna 1683 project.

The figures are from The Assault Group.

And were a pleasure to paint up, a little too much flash, most of which I only noticed while painting the bleeders up!

I matched the infantry unit to the colours on the flag.

The command, a boy, Officer and Standard Bearer.
Like the last Haiduk regt I painted, the flags come free online

Apparently, Officer didn't wear the same as men in there unit?

Rear shot

2 units of 8 figures 80 points

3 Command 15 points

Makes a total of 95 points!

AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Vienna 1683 - Polish Haiduk Infantry

Staying on the Vienna 1683 project for my next post.
I've been scrabbling for info on the Polish Infantry that was sent as part of the relief force to Vienna.
It would have saved me a lot of fuss to include these in my venture to the centre of the Challenge Quadrant, but alas, I'd already started painting these and perhaps some other too?????

From what I've read so far it only looks like 2 units were sent?
And as per usual I don't know what 2 units and what they wore?

So I've gone for a generic blue coated faced red.
The 8 figures on the left are from Essex Miniatures,
The 8 on the right are from The Assault Group.
The 3 command figures are also from TAG.

I found the flag online here on Another Miniatures Painting Blog , this and other on the site are taken from The Stockholm Roll.
The “Stockholm Roll”, a 16 m long painting depicting the entry of the wedding procession of King Sigismund III Vasa into the city of Kraków in 1605, is now on show in the Royal Castle in Warsaw.

The Essex figures were a little smaller all round than the TAG figures, so I double based them, which bought them up to the same height, which made the fit in a little better. Not perfectly, but it'll do fine for me and the Rejects.

I will need to print the flag off again, with a better quality paper, as this one is rather
wishy washy in colour.

19 x 25mm figures @5pts each

95 points!
This should push me back up to 7th place, only 3 points ahead of Kerry!!
And 39 points behind Miles!

AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Ottoman Artillery

A little carry on from my Ottoman project that I started back in Challenge 11.
Warfare Miniatures hadn't yet released artillerymen

But they have now!

And very nice figures they are too.

I decided on two artillery pieces for the Ottomans, because they just look cool.

This gun is from Trent Miniatures.

And this ones from The Assault Group.

As for the points
10 figures @ 5pts each = 50pts
2 artillery @10pts each = 20pts
