Anita Pallenberg, an actress and model known as an unofficial member of the Rolling Stones, has died aged 73.

The news was broken on social media by Pallenberg's friend, actress Stella Schnabel, who posted on Instagram: "I have never met a woman quite like you Anita". The cause of death has not been confirmed.

The news that model, muse and actress Anita Pallenberg passed away on Tuesday this week has been met with sadness the world over.

The beautiful star was best known as the unofficial sixth Rolling Stone and long term partner of Keith Richards - but will be remembered for so much more. Pallenberg was the woman who influenced the Stones' lyrics and inspired a new generation of 'it girls' and models, including Kate Moss and Alexa Chung.

Anita Pallenberg has died aged 73, it was announced this morning.

One of the 20th century's great fashion icons, Pallenberg's signature look- eclectic, experimental, bohemian and coolly glamorous- reflected her life as a model, actress and honourary member of the Rolling Stones.

 ‘Rock chick’, ‘It girl’, ‘muse’… these are just a handful of the descriptions used to encapsulate the unique power of Anita Pallenberg, the model, actress and designer who died this week. Her friend Pam Hogg says it better though. “Anita was a force, not just an incredible beauty, she lived her life to the full.”

The King’s Road’s  bohemian days were long gone when I moved to a basement flat in the area in 2004. Once a byword for the swinging Sixties, it was lined with high street chains, and McDonald’s had taken up position in the iconic Drugstore, which made it into a song by the Rolling Stones. Even the Sloane Rangers with their pearls and cords were a dying breed, finding life cheaper and more fun in Fulham.
