Pumping Jonathan Bailey

Gays supporting gays! You love to see it, especially when they're this hot and Jonny Bailey's popping a bicep like that -- the only good thing in the Wicked movies went to see Luke Evans and his headline-grabbing bulge in the new staging of Rocky Horror this weekend and we were all graced with this perfect moment captured. Huzzah. Anyway even though I could do a whole post for just that picture I have got something else on deck -- Deadline reported this morning that Mr. Bailey will be starring opposite one Natalie Portman in a movie called, ahem, Pumping Black. Is that an actual term that cyclists use? Because it's a movie about cyclists -- Jonny will be playing one who's aging out of the sport who gets taken under the nefarious wing of Portman's character, a doctor who "will stop at nothing" to win. So Pumping Black Swan, basically. Good lord -- I'm sorry, you can't put "pumping" in your movie title no matter what, but especially not with Jonathan Bailey there.  Am I really expected to spend the next, what, year, year and a half, no being sent into a tailspin whenever I think about these things together??

Pics of the Day

A new staging of a little something called The Rocky Horror Picture Show is hitting NYC imminently (as in two days from now) and Vogue has the first pictures of its big sexy cast, led by the one and only noted Luke Evans in the fishnets as Dr. Frank N. Furter. For those of you who only know Luke from his action-hero roles in movies like The Hobbitses and that Furious movie he was in -- or from his greatest role as "The guy who got his dick cut by Ma in Ma" -- our man Luke got his start singing on the stage in that Boy George musical in London (indeed that was where he gave the interview talking about being gay that he then tried to bury for several years as he tried to do the action-hero thing in Hollywood until finally coming out properly, again) -- point being no need to worry, he can sing. I guess those of you who saw the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie knew that too -- I only made it about 20 minutes into that abomination before I had to turn it off. Anyway! Luke's not the only hottie in this thing...

... as the dream man of the title is being played by West Side Story hunk Josh Rivera, fitting the role of "dream man" to a tee. Lord almighty, just look at him. Anyway I've never been huge on Rocky Horror, which isn;'t to say I don't like it -- as far as musicals go it's one I can and have watched several times and enjoyed.I just continue being a person who doesn't go seeking out musicals to watch when I need something to watch, it just can't be helped. But if somebody needs a plus one I'd go see this. It also stars the wonderful Harvey Guillén and Rachel Dratch and  Stephanie Hsu and Juliette Lewis and on and on, it's quite the cast y'all. Hit the jump for a couple more photos of them...

Leave No Ma Behind

I don't know if any of you missed the news yesterday that Octavia Spencer is returning as Ma in Ma 2: The Ma-ening, but I wouldn't want anyone to go without that news so here I am making sure you don't. Yes I made up that title but clearly -- clearly -- that needs to be the title. I am available for script supervision, Octavia! I'm cheap! (Cheap as fuck.) Here is my review of the first movie -- here is the bit that really sells the movie, I think:

"Ma is superficially ninety minutes of ridiculousness and fun, a goof where Missi Pyle gets plowed over for a lark and Luke Evans' peekaboo cock is put to excellent prop use; where a lewdly photographed teenage boy does a gratuitous striptease and Allison Janney gets put in a dog cage."

So let's hope they know the movie they're making and
they go for it again. Welcome to the Ma Rennassaince!

Who Wore It Best?

On the left we have an Instagram story from out actor Russell Tovey that dropped a little bit ago, and on the right we have an Instagram story that dropped from out actor Luke Evans also a little bit ago. If these two combined their Thirst-day bulge powers they could devour the world! Anyway we all want to be those dogs right now, but which one would you rather be...

Luke Evans Two Times

There are several more photos of Luke Evans modeling his new clothing (read speedo) brand BDXY over here (thx Mac) with the help of several fine gentlemen. But I'm being generous even including the second shot below because let's be honest -- it's all about the shot above. That's why we're here. What is it that Ursula says in The Little Mermaid? "My dear sweet child... it's what I live for." Oh and also this: "Don't underestimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE." Well you're speaking my name, Luke. Loud and clear.

Good Morning, World

I can't believe that Luke Evans is managing to get his "clothing brand" mentioned here two mornings in a row but I suppose we are the target audience and all things considered I do appreciate how basic and simple he's kept it -- white tees and tighty-whities, you can't go wrong -- and oh plus that he's got Russell Tovey modeling for him pro-bono in his underpants. That last part is the actually most important part. Anyway I feel as if I have been poking fun at Russ a little too much lately (see this tweet for an example) but it's very much intended to be a loving ribbing -- because when I say that I have seen all of his public displays of Josh O'Connor crushing this week (he posted a photo of Josh on his Insta-stories and he has been liking every photo of Josh on Insta before even I get to them) it's not to call him out; it's just to say I see you, Tovey, and I understand you. Also when I think about the meeting of the Epic Ears that Russell Tovey & Josh O'Connor getting together would create -- an ear-pocalypse!!! -- I get very excited. Let's make it happen, boys!

Good Morning, World

Noted actor Luke Evans is on the cover of the Spanish edition of Men's Health this month and he brought his tighty-whities -- not to the cover unfortunately, but inside the magazine. And when I say "his" tighty-whtiies I do actually mean his, since he's trying to be a fashion maven now with a very gay brand that seems to make mostly underwear and speedos. Luke's specialties! Anyway I assume that's what this article is about (it's in Spanish so I have no actual idea) since he doesn't have any other projects coming out at the moment. But if it gets him modeling tighty-whities and speedos in Men's Health who am I to mind? Hit the jump for more photos...

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Professor Marston & the Wonder Women (2017)

Josette: You don't even deny
that these images are overtly sexual.
William Marston: An erotic component is necessary. How else is submission supposed to be pleasurable? I am teaching readers to submit to a loving authority, and that submission is pleasurable. Young boys must learn this most of all if they are to grow up respecting powerful women.
Josette: What is powerful about a woman
running around in a bathing suit?

A happy 45 to Luke Evans today.
This is such an underrated movie.

Nice To Grief You

If you'd like to hear my thoughts on Dan Levy's directorial debut Good Grief click on over to Pajiba, where that went up over the weekend, as did Levy's film onto Netflix. It's fine! And yes that's French hot-stuff Arnaud Valois there beside Levy -- he and Luke Evans play love interests for him, which is also pretty much what I would do if I was casting my love interests. Good on ya, Dan.

A big good morning from Luke Evans, specifically.

Good Morning, World

Noted actor Luke Evans has posted a little workout video on his Instagram this Monday morning to get us Monday motivated -- either that or make us feel Monday miserable, depending on how rah-rah we're feeling. Not to be That Guy but I did actually get up and go for a run this morning so sucks to be y'all, losers. Watch the full video over here. Happy Monday!

Luke Evans Three Times

Luke is the cover boy of this month's issue of Zoo magazine (via) and I'm sure there will be more photos to come, but for now we'll make due with these three. We love Zoo, they always deliver -- see here and here and here for some prime examples -- so I look forward to what more comes here with Luke. Hit the jump for the other two photos we've got right now...

Luke Evans has the right idea, I think.

Good Morning, World

A happy 37 to sweatdrop-inducing model-turned-actor and friend-of-Luke-Evans Jon Kortajarena today! I was going to say "turned 'sometime' actor" but his IMDb credits are much longer than I realized -- he's obviously able to work on Spanish-language projects too so that helps. The only acting jobs I've seen him in were that one memorable scene in Tom Ford's A Single Man and playing the gay love interest on the fabulous Amazon sci-fi series Tales From the Loop (see my post about that here) which I really hope y'all have caught up with by now. I've been thinking about a re-watch lately! Anyway a happy birthday to Jon, who's in Cannes with pink hair right now which I know because he posts on Instagram a lot. And for some reason alongside the below photo Alex Pettyfer is calling Jon his "wife's second husband" which is making me think, "Lucky wife"! Nestle me between those two and put rings on everybody.

This movie's still wildly underrated, huh?

Good Morning, World

So has anybody started watching Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu yet? I did, I did. (I haven't seen the latest episode yet though.) It's perfectly fun so far, with some keen moments of performance, but I do feel kind of bad for it coming out right on the heels of the similarly plotted The White Lotus from the genius Mike White, by which anything -- yes even a thing starring Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, Bobby Cannavale, Luke Evans, and the lovely Manny Jacinto here --  would pale in comparison. It feels much more of a piece with HBO stuff like Big Little Lies or that other Reese Witherspoon show, the one where Joshua Jackson wore tighty-whities. (I never bothered finishing that one.) Serviceable but basically disposable glossy trash. We will see. For now let's enjoy this new sweater-tastic photoshoot of Manny for WWD though, right on after the jump...

Good Morning, World

A happy 34th birthday to the actor Manny Jacinto today -- not that it's any excuse, given how many people I've posted about without ever having seen them in anything, but MNPP's light on the Manny content still, given what I just said; even though I've known who he was for some time (you see that jawline, you take note) I only just watched him in the very first thing this week, Netflix's very fun new horror series Brand New Cherry Flavor (from the creator of the great Channel Zero), which you might have seen me tweeting about over the long weekend.

(There's a whole thread above screaming about Catherine Keener's awesomeness if you click on that tweet.) That gif up top is not from that show, because like I said BNCF didn't have much for Manny to do -- that gif is from some Canadian spy program called The Romeo Section. Have any of you seen it? He was in its entire first season but it's not available to watch here in the States (at least not legally anyway) and so that gif was all I could find (via). I'd love to see the entire scene!

Anyway I think Manny's about to be showing up lots -- that's him on the new Nicole Kidman soap opera Nine Perfect Strangers (well that's what it is, let's be real -- these limited series are just condensed versions of Dynasty at this point), which premiered on Hulu this week (and which also stars Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, and Michael Shannon, oh my). I haven't had a chance to watch any of that yet, I have been very busy every night with Fantasia Fest screeners, but the minute I have a minute I will spend that minute on that, I promise.

Good Morning, World

When you're running behind Luke Evans can always be counted on to have a new thirty Insta-post on hand that will make your job just a nip (or two) easier. Thanks, Luke!
