Pumping Jonathan Bailey

Gays supporting gays! You love to see it, especially when they're this hot and Jonny Bailey's popping a bicep like that -- the only good thing in the Wicked movies went to see Luke Evans and his headline-grabbing bulge in the new staging of Rocky Horror this weekend and we were all graced with this perfect moment captured. Huzzah. Anyway even though I could do a whole post for just that picture I have got something else on deck -- Deadline reported this morning that Mr. Bailey will be starring opposite one Natalie Portman in a movie called, ahem, Pumping Black. Is that an actual term that cyclists use? Because it's a movie about cyclists -- Jonny will be playing one who's aging out of the sport who gets taken under the nefarious wing of Portman's character, a doctor who "will stop at nothing" to win. So Pumping Black Swan, basically. Good lord -- I'm sorry, you can't put "pumping" in your movie title no matter what, but especially not with Jonathan Bailey there.  Am I really expected to spend the next, what, year, year and a half, no being sent into a tailspin whenever I think about these things together??

Pics of the Day

Our sweet baby Jonathan Bailey needs to give his entire team a big raise because they keep unloading onto the internet wonders like these costume fitting photos for his series Fellow Travelers and making it impossible -- literally mentally and physically impossible -- to think about anything other than Jonathan Bailey. As if Fellow Travelers , the series where Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer fuck like hot gay bunny rabbits in basically every episode, hadn't already given us so much! Hit the jump for a wondrous few more...

Jonathan Bailey Five Times

There's a nice little photoshoot and a chat with our boy Jonny Bailey at Backstage magazine -- he talks getting intimate with Matt Bomer, he talks about fighting dinos from the set of the next Jurassic movie, but most important of all he says this:

"I think I’ve always been quite naughty."

What did we do to deserve this man?
Hit the jump for the entire shoot...

Matt Bomer Seven Times

Good grief. Every time you think Matt Bomer can't get more beautiful... the boy proves you dead wrong. Excuse me while the ghost of Chandler Bing possesses me but could he BE aging any better? This new shoot for Style Magazine Italia (via) by photographer Guy Aroch (who's given us some of our favorite sexy suited-up manly-man photoshoots as of late including this one and this one) has him unloading the hot daddy vibes hard on us, and we can only appreciate. And so does his Fellow Travelers boy-toy Jonathan Bailey, for that matter:

Hit the jump for all the photos...

Donald Glover Two Times

Congrats to this sexy beast on his Emmy nomination for his series Mr & Mrs Smith, alongside our beloved PEN15 forever gal-pal Maya Erskine -- I don't remember writing anything about the series here, forgive me if I did and my hole-riddled-brain's simply forgotten that, but I very much liked that show. Did you? Anyway Emmy-wise I'm also psyched for the love for my Fellow Travelers boys, for Andrew Scott in Ripley, and for Jonn Hamm's terrific work in Fargo, which I actually wrote at length about at Mashable while the series was airing. Any Emmy nominations making y'all especially happy today? I don't usually pay awards much mind (as I make a point of saying every time I do, lol) but for some reason these Emmy ones made me glad today. Also... I just wanted to look at Donald in some short-shorts, of course. And so we shall!

Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

 ... you can learn from:

Pearl (2022)

Pearl: Is it legal?
The Projectionist: Doing it, yeah. Filming it, no.

A happy 31 to David Corenswet, who can be seen in Twisters next week (holla) and who'll be offering up a whole different flying sensation next year when James Gunn's fresh new Superman movie comes out -- it was pretty much predestined the first minute we saw David in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series Hollywood that he was manufactured in a factory to play Superman, and I'm happy that turned out better for him than it did for Matt Bomer. (Not that I feel bad in any way for Matt Bomer -- he is Matt Bomer.) I suppose I should hedge my bets and not be so pre-enthusiastic about his casting a full year-plus out -- this movie very well could suck -- but I like to be positive. Especially where beautiful men are involved. (See all of our previous David Corenswet posts here if you need a lot of cold hard proof re: that fact.)

Anyway it's also timely to look back at Pearl today obviously since the third film in Ti West's trilogy MaXXXine came out over this past weekend -- and read my very disappointed thoughts on that film here if you missed them. As I did mention there I did see the movie a second time over the weekend and sad to say it only underlined my issues with the film, which is handily the weakest of the trilogy -- there's just no sustained tension, no emotional development. It's just a bunch of stuff happening while Mia Goth remains cool as shit. I did add a couple extraneous positive thoughts to a Twitter thread I have going -- basically the movie is kind of interesting on a subtextual level because it feels like a movie about being trapped in the horror genre and wanting to break free. But I might just be galaxy-braining all that, looking for some way to make sense of the slop heap they released.

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... doing Jonathan Bailey's body good.

Take Us Into the Weekend, Matty...

These photos of Matt Bomer flaunting it on the set of his upcoming Hollywood satire Outcome (via) have been around for most of this week but I felt as if they'd be the perfect thing for the top of the site as we head into the weekend, so I saved them. Much like Matt Bomer exercised his glutes I exercised restraint! I'd rather have Matt's glutes than my restraint but we make do with what we do have, as ever. Outcome was written and is being directed by Jonah Hill and is a comedy about a famous actor (played by Keanu Reeves) forced to atone for his past after "bizarre video footage" from his past surfaces -- clearly Hill is tackling his own brush with cancelation and if it wasn't for these photos of Bomer my god I could not care less about this movie. But here we are! Such is the power of Matt Bomer in short shorts. Have a good weekend, everybody, and you can start it out that way if you hit the jump for several more photos of this gratuitous spectacle of perfect flesh...

Jonny On Orgasms & Brokeback Mountain

Ooh today is coming in hard and fast -- do you hear me, Jonathan Bailey, coming hard and fast! -- because no sooner had I posted that Oliver Jackson-Cohen photoshoot then did I see a new Jonathan Bailey photoshoot for Interview magazine! But even better -- Jonny is chatting with his Crashing co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and listening to the two is just like firecrackers popping off. Here's a choice bit where PWB asks him about if there were any gay romances he had on-screen to learn from:

"Unfortunately, there just weren’t that many were there growing up... but I met Matthew Rhys recently, who I just love. And I was thinking about that relationship in Brothers and Sisters. And then there was Queer as Folk. Russell, T. Davies changed the game. So many people owe so much to him just purely for visibility. There is no Tim and Hawk to a 2023 audience without Queer as Folk....

Speaking of history, I was doing media studies with an amazing teacher and I decided that I was going to do my dissertation about the representations of Hutus and Tutsis and the Rwanda genocide, looking at Hotel Rwanda and Shooting Dogs. And then Brokeback Mountain came out and I was like, “Hang on, how can I possibly create a world where I can go and have a free pass to go to the cinema to watch it 10 times?” I’m really proud of my 17-year-old self, I wasn’t necessarily out, but I changed the topic to representation of homosexuality in Brokeback Mountain and I watched that film 10 times. And this amazing teacher, Dr. Brunton, who probably had an idea of what was going on, was just like, “This is brilliant, keep going, keep going.” And I think it was the best mark I ever got."

There's also a lot of talk of eye-fucking strangers and orgasms and everything you want to hear Jonathan Bailey talk about so make sure you go read the entire thing. But first here I have the photos for you after the jump...

Whom Did the Critics Choose

This was my first year as a member of the Critics Choice Association but I didn't end up going to the ceremony yesterday -- I'm going to Sundance in four days and I can only take off so much time from my day job unfortunately. Pretty sure I'll do the opposite next year, especially since the second I saw Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer standing together on the red carpet looking like that I regretted every choice I'd made in my life. Oh well - I am sure there will be hot guys there next year for me to drool upon in person. Just you wait, hot guys! Anyway for now I just think I will hold onto my drool for later and share our winners with you after the jump...

Matt's the Maestro

Now that Bradley Cooper's terrible biopic of Leonard Bernstein Maestro has dropped onto Netflix it's time to revisit my review of the movie that originally dropped back when the movie played briefly in theaters -- if you missed it read it here. I uhhhhhh am not a fan.

"Maestro is a movie about acting, not music—it’s a movie about Bradley Cooper acting, specifically. Or less a movie than an excuse."

That said there are worse ways to spend two hours of one's life -- the movie is gorgeously lensed and Carey Mulligan is solid and Matt Bomer momentarily shows his butt. Bomer doesn't have much else to do but given how uninterested in Bernstein's gay experiences the movie is except to make Mulligan cry we'll take some butt. And also these nice photos of Matty in the NYT -- you can read the chat with him here. It's a nice one. And now over the holidays I pinky-swear I will fiiiiiinally watch Fellow Travelers...

Bailey Break

As with all things Fellow Travelers related I am burying my head in the sand until I get around to watching the series, but if you're less skittish than I perhaps you'd like to read this new interview with star Jonathan Bailey on the show at the Standard. Me, I'm okay with just experiencing that photo for now. Very very okay.

What a Gay Day to Be Alive (and Gay)

What a very very gay as in homosexual today has turned into! I mean around these parts that's par for the course, but I mean out there, in the big wide hetero-stink world. The first thing I saw this morning was Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott snuggling in the New York Times, and now we've got a big...

... hot hot hot photoshoot of Fellow Travelers stars Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey doing the same for GQ. I am putting off reading their chat until I watch some -- any -- of the show, which at this point seems like it'll be Christmas vacation, alas. But you people, you feel free. We're just gonna share the incredibly hot photo-shoot after the jump...

Double Do, Dump or Marry: All of Us Travelers

And speaking of Fellow Travelers did y'all see the photo that went viral over the weekend of its leading men Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey posing with the leading men of the brilliant film All of Us Strangers, meaning Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal? Obviously a lot of gay brains exploded at this crossing-of-the-streams, including those of the person typing before you. And it only seems right to inject this photo into our "Do Dump or Marry" template, wherein you take to the comments and tell me which one you'd have sex with once (Do), which one you'd dump (Dump), and which one you'd marry (Marry). When there are four participants it does complicate things but y'all are creative -- meaning make your Do's threeways, obviously. Hit up the comments and share your answers! And I do have to add that there was an equally viral response meme that was as funny as the original photo was sexy...

Matthew Bomer Eight Times

It's not much of one given what's absent but consider this post of photos (via) a little bit of make-up on my part for the fact that I still haven't watched a single solitary minute of Fellow Travelers yet! I know, I know. I've even seen plentiful gifs from all of its myriad sex scenes between Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey and that hasn't done it. I've lost my mind! No no in actuality I decided to wait for the Thanksgiving break to binge myself up. So next week perhaps I'll have something to say! For now let's stare at Matty dressed by Todd Snyder -- you know how sometimes I post photo-shoots and I'm like, "These clothes make no sense to me"? Well everything Matt's wearing in this shoot make's one hundred thousand percent sense to me -- give or take the color platte (I don't wear a lot of camel or beige) this is exactly my style (if I had the money to dress this well anyway). I am exceedingly preppy and straight-laced when it comes to clothes, it's true. But the fuzzy gray cardigan just below? I'm swoooooning. Hit the jump for everything...

Good Morning, World

I had to half-ass my search for all of the photos of Jonathan Bailey in Vanity Fair France because I kept had photos from Fellow Travelers popping up in my search and I'm trying to keep myself spoiler-less for that until I start watching it... whenever the hell that will be! It's obscene that I've had access to the show (via press screeners) for months now and not watched a second of it -- I'm almost at this point feeling paralyzed by my being behind on it? Like it's a circular trap I'm caught in. But then that describes so much of life. On that marvelously upbeat note I did dig up a few of the VF photos and they're after the jump...

Picturing the Cock We Coulda Had

Because I squandered my early screeners for Fellow Travelers I have nothing to say on that Matt Bomer / Jonathan Bailey series that's hitting Paramount+ today (and Showtime on Sunday) -- but I can gift us some Gay Jonny B. anyway since earlier this week I stumbled (via) upon these new-old photos from the Cock that never was! If you recall JB was set to star in the play Cock with Taron Egerton last year but Taron had some sort of freak-out and bailed on Bailey -- I guess these photos were promotional images from the time. before the freakout that, as far as I can tell, never saw the light of day. Until now! Hit the jump for a few more...

Jonathan Bailey Seven Times

The homosexual television series Fellow Travelers (watch the trailer here) premieres on Paramount+ on this Friday (and then on Sunday on Showtime) and so we're getting some press, thank goodness -- I'm sure they all were running around like busy little bees before the SAG strike and we reap the benefits now, even if the studios continue being putzes. That said I am the biggest putz of all (per usual) because I've had screeners of this show for actual months (yes plural) and not found time to watch it? I don't even know. I been busy y'all but that's no excuse - I found time to watch like eight ridiculously awful horror movies this weekend, you'd think I could've made time for Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer getting horned up for each other. Me aside (as if) Bailey is here on the cover of VMan Magazine this week -- read the article here, or just hit the jump for the photos...

Pic of the Day

I am, uhh, pretty sure that this new photo of Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey in the forthcoming miniseries Fellow Travelers speaks for, you know, itself. Better than I ever could. Click here if you missed the trailer -- this is out on October 29th! (click to embiggen)

It's a New NewFest!

This is a subject I've addressed on Twitter -- see the thread here -- but there is a documentary about the gay photographer George Platt Lynes (that's one of his typically gorgeous and homoerotic photos seen above) called Hidden Master that has been making the festival rounds this year that I had an itty bitty role in behind-the-scenes. (Really, an exceptionally small role -- but I am thanked in the credits!) Well the doc is finally officially playing my hometown, as today it was announced to be a part of this year's NewFest! It will screen one month from today on October 13th -- it will also be screening virtually -- and you can buy tickets at this link. I obviously can't give an unbiased opinion on the movie given my involvement, no matter how tiny it was, but I've seen the movie several times now and I really do think it's the bee's knees and recommend everybody give it a shot. And NewFest isn't the only place it's lined up -- check the film's website for more information.

Anyway this post isn't just about that film -- as I do every year for NewFest we need to take a look at everything they've got lined up for us this year, running from October 14th through 24th. It's one hell of a line-up -- maybe the biggest they've ever had since I've been going? Their Opening Night film is Rustin, Netflix's biopic of the civil rights leader starring Colman Domingo which I've posted about a ton. Their Centerpiece Film is Nyad, the awards-hopeful biopic of the famous swimming legend starring Anette Bening and Jodie Foster. And their Closing Night film is Andrew Haigh's All of Us Strangers with Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, which I have posted even more about than any of the others for, you know, obvious reasons.

They are also doing a tribute to Todd Haynes and screening his new movie May December starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman. They're showing Eileen, the weird slinky little thriller starring Ann Hathaway that I loved at Sundance. And they're screening some of (well I assume "some of" since it's a full-blown miniseries) Fellow Travelers, with Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey (see my post on the trailer for that here). And that's only the start -- I'm far too lazy to type out everything they're showing, so thankfully they have their own website and have done all of that work for me. Click here for the line-up and ticket info et cetera. And after the jump I'll drop the full press release...
