Changes[edit]

General[edit]

  • This update introduces two new mechanics for each hero: Innate abilities and Facets


Innate Abilities

  • Innates are abilities that are present on the hero for the entire game, from the very beginning of every match. Every hero has a unique Innate
  • The Innate for each hero can be viewed on the Hero page, or in-game by hovering a new icon between the hero talents and abilities
  • There are two types of Innates:
    • Some Innates grant a hero a unique effect. For example, Faceless Void slows enemy attack projectiles within range, and Dawnbreaker reveals the whole map to allies when the sun rises
    • Some Innates change a hero ability to have five levels and get a free ability point at level 1. For example, Kunkka's Tidebringer and Legion Commander's Moment of Courage now start at level 1, and can still be upgraded four more times like normal


Facets

  • Facets are a hero customization choice that provide the ability to better align the playstyle of a hero with a specific match or player preference. Facets are specific to heroes: Each hero has at least two Facets, and every player can choose the Facet they prefer during strategy time at the beginning of each match
  • Hero Facets can be viewed on their hero page, below the hero name and tags. They can also be viewed in-game by hovering a new icon between the hero talent and abilities, on the scoreboard, or on the top bar when holding Alt
  • Facets are set for all players after the strategy time, and cannot be changed during a match. Facet choices aren't revealed to the enemy team until after the game begins
  • Facets can have a variety of effects, for example:
    • Viper can choose between adding an AoE damage burst to Poison Attack, or increasing defensive buffs while Viper remains in Nethertoxin
    • Wraith King can choose between summoning skeletons, or dealing additional curse damage when attacking
    • Leshrac can choose between his attacks restoring mana, or changing Diabolic Edict to explode faster but deal no damage to buildings
    • Lone Druid can choose between an improved Spirit Link, granting lifesteal in both directions, or allowing True Form to be cast on the Spirit Bear


Other

  • Strategy time is extended by 15/10/5 seconds for the 1/2/3 weeks immediately after a numbered patch
  • Glyph of Fortification no longer refreshes when the first Tier 3 tower is destroyed
  • Glyph of Fortification now refreshes when the first Melee Barracks is destroyed
  • AoE Bonuses now affect all auras and Cleave sources
  • Dominated Creeps no longer allow players to bypass Backdoor Protection
  • Hero Denies now grant experience to the hero who created the deniable debuff.
  • Mana Bars are always visible for enemies
  • Fountain Buff grants Couriers haste movement
  • If Courier has no items, pressing the Deliver Courier button sends the Courier back home
  • Mana Cost Reduction effects no longer work on abilities that drain mana over time
  • Attack Speed Display is no longer normalized to 1.7 BAT. This means heroes’ max attack speed is no longer always 700, but a buff that grants 20 Attack Speed will display as +20 always instead of a different number based on the hero’s BAT (No actual gameplay change, just a display change)
  • Spell's Cast Range is now always listed with the new icon, which is located near Mana Costs and Cooldown
  • Holding Alt displays the vision range of all Watchers in the map
  • Experience gain from Abilities and Wisdom Rune will now show up separately in the post-game XP Breakdown for Dota Plus users
  • Added a "LEVELS WITH:" parameter for ability descriptions to show which ability needs to be upgraded to level this one
  • Ability tooltips now show icons next to ability values, indicating that those are upgraded by Aghanim's Shard/Scepter, Talents, or Facets
  • Updated spectator view controls for live and replays to match vision unlinking
    • Using Radiant/Dire Fog will now correctly hide members of Radiant/Dire that have had their vision unlinked and are not visible
    • Using the player perspective on a player whose vision is unlinked will correctly hide units they can no longer see
  • Pinging items of enemies that can't be seen currently no longer reveals information on whether those items were consumed or not
  • In demo mode -createhero command supports facets by adding facet name or its number at the end of the command
  • New Dota Labs Feature: "Persistent Range Indicators" -- If you hold Alt while right-clicking on either your experience indicator, attack range indicator (the stats part of portrait), or an ability/item, the game will draw a persistent range indicator in the world for it. You can only have at most one active at any given time, but it updates automatically when your attack/cast/AoE range changes
  • New Dota Labs Feature: "Dynamic Health Bar Focus" -- The health bar of any hovered unit will always draw on top of other health bars
  • Added the ability to type in a hero name to jump to that hero when viewing patch notes in the client


Ability Draft

  • Innates have the following rules for Ability Draft
    • Innate abilities that do not appear on a hero's ability bar will be automatically assigned to the hero when spawning in, but cannot be drafted
    • Innate abilities that can be leveled with skill points are draftable, but will not be automatically assigned when spawning in
    • All other innate abilities are disabled for Ability Draft
  • Facets have the following rules for Ability Draft:
    • You can choose any hero facet belonging to your assigned hero during strategy time
    • Facets that grant new abilities are disabled
    • Facets that replace abilities will work if you draft the ability that is being replaced
    • If a facet has no effect on your hero you can still select it. In game, the facet will notate it has no effect

      • Has a 45-second linger duration.

      • Reduced effect radius from 750 to 600.
      • No longer grants health bonus and attack damage bonus.

  • Reduced base attack damage from 2‒12 to (-4)‒6.
  • ADDED the Font of Avernus innate ability for Abaddon :

    • Selecting the corresponding facet unlocks this ability.
    • Grants Font of Avernus a 4-second and 0.2-second current cooldown reduction per hero and creep death within 900 radius respectively.
  • Aphotic Shield
    • ADDED new Mephitic Shroud facet.
      • Increases barrier capacity by 50%.
      • No longer deals radius damage.
      • Now reflects 0.8 * DamageBarrier as damage within 675 radius.

  • REWORKED Curse of Avernus

      • After a certain number of attacks, the curse matures and silences the affected target.

      • Applies all ability effects upon attack. Reapplying the debuff refreshes its duration.

  • Counterspell
    • REMOVED the Spell Reflection component from Counterspell-based abilities.

    • ADDED the Magebane's Mirror facet.
  • Mana Void
    • ADDED the Mana Thirst facet.
      • Adds a passive component to the ability with the following effects:
        • Passively grants a max 20/45/70 bonus attack damage when an enemy hero has less than 15% max mana within the radius.
        • Exposes the enemy hero and grants True Sight over it.
        • The bonuses are granted when an enemy hero within 2500 radius has less than 60% max mana.
  • Upgradable by Aghanim's Scepter. Aghanim's Scepter upgrade:
    • Blink Fragment
      • Reduced charges from 3 to 2.
      • Reduced charge restore time from 25 to 20.
      • Increased mana cost from 45 to 50.

      • Grants 40/50/60/70 self attack speed bonus when attacking the Nightmare-affected unit.
    • ADDED the Sleepwalk facet.
      • Now has Vector Target functionality.
      • Grants the affected unit unobstructed movement and moves it toward the vector targeted direction in 75-speed.
      • Newly affected units via attacking the Nightmared target will also move in the vector targeted direction.
  • ADDED the Smoldering Resin innate ability for Batrider :
    • Attacks apply a 2-second debuff that deals 0.15 * AtkDmg physical damage per second.
    • The damage per second component ignores Damage Block sources.

  • Thirst
    • Increased enemy max health for min bonus from 80% to 100%.
    • Reduced enemy max health for max bonus from 25% to 1%.
    • MOVED max health as lifesteal component to Sanguivore .
    • ADDED Bloodrush facet.
      • Adds an active component to the ability.
        • Grants a 5-second 50% self movement speed bonus.
        • The passive component is disabled while on cooldown.
        • Has a 15-second cooldown with 50-mana cost.
  • Rupture
    • ADDED 'Arterial Spray facet.
      • Attacks applies a non-disabling forced movement on both the Rupture affected target and Bloodseeker that pushes it 50-distance over 0.1 seconds in the direction Bloodseeker is facing.
  • Upgradable by Aghanim's Scepter. Aghanim's Scepter upgrade:

    • Bloodrage
      • Increased pure spell damage bonus per hit from 30 to 35.
      • Increased self heal per hit from 30 to 35.
  • ADDED the Big Game Hunter innate ability for Bounty Hunter :
    • Grants bonus Gold Gold to Bounty Hunter for kills or assists on an enemy hero with a kill streak.
    • Has a 1.1 streak gold factor.
  • ADDED the Cutpurse ability.
    • Selecting the corresponding facet unlocks this ability.
    • Steals 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 Gold per offensive unit-targeted ability cast.
    • This component levels up with Track .
  • Shuriken Toss
    • No longer applies a 100 attack speed slow.
    • Increased damage from 100/150/200/250 to 100/170/240/310.
    • Increased mana cost from 50/60/70/80 to 65/70/75/80.
    • ADDED the Through and Through facet.
      • The projectile now damages and slows all units it passes through.
  • Reduced Shadow Walk mana cost from 55 to 50.
  • Track
    • No longer has a Shuriken Toss 1.4/1.7/2 damage factor.
    • No longer grants a 140%/170%/200% target critical strike.
    • Now applies a 8%/14%/20% incoming damage amplification debuff on the affected target.
  • Upgradable by Aghanim's Shard. Aghanim's Shard upgrade:
  • Drunken Brawler is now Brewmaster 's Innate. innate ability.

      • Rescaled armor bonus from 1/3/5/7 to 1/3/5/7/9.
      • Rescaled magic resistance bonus from 5%/10%/15%/20% to 4%/8%/12%/16%/20%.
    • Storm Stance Storm Stance
      • Rescaled evasion bonus from 15%/20%/25%/30% to 10%/15%/20%/25%/30%.
      • Rescaled movement speed bonus from 5%/7%/9%/11% to 4%/6%/8%/10%/12%.
    • Fire Stance Fire Stance
      • Rescaled critical damage from 120%/140%/160%/180% to 120%/135%/150%/165%/180%.
      • Rescaled attack speed bonus from 10/15/20/25 to 10/15/20/25/30.
    • Void Stance Void Stance
      • Rescaled status resistance bonus from 5%/10%/15%/20% to 4%/8%/12%/16%/20%.
      • Rescaled movement speed slow from 10%/15%/20%/25% to 5%/10%/15%/20%/25%.
  • Thunder Clap
    • Reduced damage from 90/160/230/300 to 75/150/225/300.
    • Rescaled movement speed slow from 25%/35%/45%/55% to 15%/30%/45%/60%.
    • Rescaled attack speed slow from 25/35/45/55 to 15/30/45/60.
  • Cinder Brew
    • Can no longer be ignited by physical spell damage sources.
    • U Reduced cast range from 850 to 700.
    • ADDED the Roll Out the Barrel facet.
      • CHANGED ability targeting type from Target Are to Target Point/Area .
      • Launches a 75-width barrel with 900-speed in the point-targeted location.
      • Deals 50/75/100/125 physical spell damage and applies the Cinder Brew debuff along the way within 350 radius.
      • The barrel rolls out 950-distance then explodes, applying the Cinder Brew debuff on all enemy units within 400 radius centered around the explode location.
    • ADDED the Drunken Master facet.
      • U Grants Brewmaster a varying amount of movement speed bonus, altering between a 20% movement speed slow and a 50% movement speed bonus while affected by Cinder Brew .
  • Earth
    • Reduced Demolish building attack damage bonus from 90/170/250 to 80/140/200.
  • Storm
    • Reduced Cyclone hero duration from 5 on each level to 3/4/5.
    • Wind Walk
      • Reduced movement speed bonus from 50% on each level to 20%/30%/40%.
      • Increased cooldown from 5 on each level to 20/14/8.
  • Upgradable by Aghanim's Scepter. Aghanim's Scepter upgrade:
    • The Primal Companion no longer have any movement, cooldown, and casting penalties.
  • Reduced base attack damage from 33‒39 to 25‒31.
  • Warpath is now Bristleback 's Innate. innate ability.
    • Rescaled max stacks from 8/10/12 to 4/8/10/12.
    • Rescaled damage per stack from 15/20/25 to 5/15/20/25.
    • Rescaled movement speed bonus per stack from 2%/3%/4% to 0%/2%/3%/4%.
    • Increased stack duration from 8/10/12 to 12/16/18/20.
    • ADDED the Berserk facet.
      • Increases attack speed bonus by 5/10/15/20 per stack.
      • Reduces attack damage from 5/15/20/25 to 5 on each level.
  • Rescaled Quill Spray damage from 28/30/32/34 to 30 on each level.
  • Bristleback
    • ADDED the Snot Rocket facet.
      • Now launches and procs of Viscous Nasal Goo its corresponding level instead of Quill Spray upon reaching the damage threshold.
      • Increases stack limit by 2.
      • Increases armor reduction per stack by 1.

  • ADDED the Spider's Milk innate ability for Broodmother :
    • Grants Broodmother a stackable 3-second buff that heals her for 0.04 * DyingUnit MaxHP per second within 600 radius upon killing an enemy hero.
    • The heal utilizes the lifesteal mechanic and affects all of her player-controlled units.
    • Has a 0.6 creep heal factor.
  • Insatiable Hunger
    • ADDED the Feeding Frenzy facet.
      • The ability is now an 800-radius aura that applies all ability effects to all Broodmother's Spiderlings .
  • Spin Web
    • No longer grants health regeneration bonus to Broodmother and her Spiderlings .
    • REWORKED the movement speed component.
      • OLD Grants a max 10%/22%/34%/46% movement speed bonus based on the affected unit's max health. [?]
      • NEW Grants 10%/22%/34%/46% movement speed bonus to affected units.
    • ADDED the Necrotic Webs facet.
      • Additionally applies a 10%/15%/20%/25% health regeneration reduction to enemy units within the radius.
  • REMOVED Silken Bola .
  • ADDED new Incapacitating Bite ability.
    • This is now Broodmother 's          third ability.
    • Attacks now passively applies a 2-second 30%/40%/50%/60% miss chance and a 15%/20%/25%/30% movement speed slow debuff.
