From PaulSS - Men-at-Arms In The Service of Lord Camoys (61 Points)

I'm back from my vacation and am cracking on with the Hundred Years War project with another unit of Men at Arms joining the forces of King Henry V.

The plastic figures are from the Agincourt Foot Knights set with a few components from the Agincourt Mounted Knights set to add some variety to the mix. The metal figures are from the Foot command advancing set.

The banner is from Battleflag and is that of Lord Camoys who commanded the left wing at Agincourt.

The sabot was a special order from those nice chaps at Warbases.

The colour scheme on these is rather 'samey' as I painted these in batches of four with a common palette for that group, but they will be added to the rest of the force and end up in more mixed units.

Twelve 28mm foot with a banner should be 61 points to add to my total.

Great work Paul.  The Hundred Years War always looks so breathtaking on a wargaming table, and I have great respect for those who can even figure out where to start on projects like this.  Very nice for us to be able to enjoy it vicariously through skilled hobbyists like yourself! Another 61 points for these fine men-at-arms.

From PaulSS - Men at Arms in the service of Baron Talbot

This post sees the return of the Hundred Years War project that I spent a lot of time on during Painting Challenge IX.

I've collected more than enough figures to do a good sized re-fight of Agincourt using either To The Strongest! or Hail Caesar, but why stop there, so I've picked up three more boxes of the Perry Miniatures plastics plus half a dozen packs of the metals, so it's off I go again.

These figures represent a contingent of English Men at Arms in the service of Baron Talbot. The banner is from Battleflag

The Men at Arms are all from the Agincourt Foot Knights set while the banner bearer and musician are from the Foot command advancing set.

As usual the plastics are a delight to assemble, although that war-hammer snaps every time, and the metals are a bugger to clean up, but all take paint really well.

I did my usual basecoat, wash, three highlights method that gives a result on these that I'm very happy with.

The sabot bases were a custom order from Warbases.

I've a last few ACW figures to paint then the rest of the challenge should see more of these.

A dozen 28mm foot plus a banner should add me 61pts to my total.



It's great to see some more of your lovely 100 Years War figures. I do hope there will be some more this year.

From PaulSS: Hundred Years War French men at arms (61 points)

This week I finished off the last six French mounted Men at Arms from the box of Perry Miniatures Agincourt Knights. I'm not usually somebody who enjoys painting cavalry but these have been a delight to get done.

The standard is Comte d’Alencon from Battle Flag and is carried by a mounted sergeant made up from one of the lighter bodies in the set.

Of these last six I used three of the lighter armed bodies in hauberks and aketons, as I mentioned before if you buy a box of the figures directly from the Perry's it makes a lot of sense to buy the extra medieval horses as you shall get 18 figures out of the box rather than six.

Here are some individual close-ups, the first being a mounted sergeant in the livery of the city of Rouen.

The second is a mounted sergeant carrying the standard of the Comte d’Alencon.

Finally, a mounted man at arms in white armour with arms azure a chevron or. A design from my own imagination, there were about 16000 French men at arms at Agincourt, somebody must have had this.

I thought that as I had completed all the Agincourt Knights that I bought this would be a good place to show a group shot of all 18.

With six 28mm mounted troops and one standard this should be worth 61 points towards my total and also contribute to the Hither do I Challenge Thee (SD4) duel.

And your usual Friday entry, to your usual excellent standard! As was said last week, the armor of Agincourt falls in a weird spot for me, but you make it look very splendid. You've absolutely captured the feel of cavalry in motion with these fellows.

From PaulSS: Hundred Years War French foot (30 points)

Just a small update this week of five French foot for the Agincourt project. I've also been working on quite a bit of other stuff, but for various reasons these are the only figures completed this week. Hopefully I shall have a bumper update next week.

All are assembled from the Perry Miniatures Agincourt French Infantry 1415-29 set and are almost the last Hundred Years War figures I have on hand at the moment. I'd made a vow to not buy any more until the challenge was over but failed dismally and now another order is already on it's way from Arcane Scenery. I've justified the purchase to myself as I had ran out of Renedra 20mm bases and nobody local has them in stock so I may as well get some figures too.

The flag is Sieur Chaunot from the Hundred Years War range from Battle Flag and is likely a little early for Agincourt, but adds some colour. The flags are a little large for the Perry standard poles so I had to trim it a little.

While I was gluing on a flag I added some flags to a few of the earlier painted figures, clockwise from top left: Louis I de Brosse Siegneur de Brossac, Jean IV Comte d' Harcourt, Sir Richard FitzSimon, Louis I de Nevers Comte de Flanders.

So, that should be five figures at 5 points each, plus 5 flags at a point each for 30 points, a low score for me this week. These should also add to me Hither do I Challenge Thee (SD4) duel total.

And, as usual, we lead today off with a display of sartorial elegance from the House of Valois, located in Paris, with satellite flagship stores in Orléans, Anjou, Burgundy, and Alençon. These fellows grace the runway with a manly clank of armor, but bring a splash of color through their great banners and the occasional dash of livery.
