From AaronH - Iden Versio and two Orc APCs (17 points)

This week I'm finally getting some painting done after travelling for the last two months. I have Iden Versio in 32mm and two Marauder (Orc) APCs in 10mm.

I painted Iden up for my friend's son so he could use her in a tournament last weekend. She was a quick paint, being mostly black.

I just dry brushed a couple of different grey's over the black undercoat. Her face took the most time.

I had already painted her droid so it's not included here. I still need to paint the other members of Inferno Squad, which may happen this Challenge.

The trucks look like she's playing with Tonka trucks.

The two APCs are Mules, the ubiquitous transport in Mantic's Warpath universe, being in at least three armies.

I have six of these. I'll be doing two each in yellow, blue and red.

They are quick and easy to paint up. I used acrylic paint pens to do most of what you see.

I'm not sure why this is Mantic's vision for an APC but horses for courses I guess.

This is one 32mm figure for 5 points

Two 10mm vehicles for 6 pts each = 12

Total = 17 pts

Nice work here Aaron, I was unfamiliar with Ms. Versio so you sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole there. A pretty intense character, she was the leader of an Imperial black ops unit called "Inferno Squad" (!) and holder of the Imperial record for most verified kills in battle (!!) (I thought surely this would've been the Death Star gunner who pulled the trigger on Alderaan??) before she defected to the Rebellion. You've done a great job on her, especially the face... the sculpt is great too, it really looks like the actress who played her.

Seventeen for your tally!

From JamieM - Epic Warpath Plague (137 points)

We’ve started playing Epic Warpath at my club and it’s a really rather good game.  This is the 10mm mass battle game from Mantic from their Warpath universe. They’ve essentially taken the rules from the old GW epic game and given it a clean and tidy set of armies and rules that are great fun to play. GW decided it would only refresh the ruleset as its “Legions Imperialis” game where everyone had to play marines, guardsmen or mechanicum in a civil war, so Mantic decided to do what a lot of fans actually want and include aliens as playable factions.

(And have an actual set of rules which doesn't suck - Editor)

These are miniatures for the plague faction, which are infected humans who are a horde close combat army (a lot of them don’t come with guns!) family photo first.

Another one slightly off to the side. Mantic decided to have four (or two for the slightly larger) miniatures to a base, which is an absolute godsend for painting as you can paint them after sticking them to the base without a middle fella to get in the way.

The large chap to the front right is a Corruption, who is a leader for them, what with four arms being better than two.
Behind him are some plague zombies. Now, having painted these I feel like I must have unlocked some sort of an achievement as I’ve already painted the same unit in 28mm during this challenge. I use no idea whether to be proud or slightly concerned about the silliness of painting the same unit in two scales, but I figure I’m amongst like minded people who won’t judge me too harshly……
Whilst the primary quality of the zombies are their sheer quantity (they’re rubbish until they stumble into contact), these next fellas are Ghouls - more or less humans who retain the ability to fire guns. Their main strength though is being quite quick and so can gum up the opposition’s lines until the heavy hitters get in.
And that segues nicely onto these heavy hitters - Leapers. Fast and deadly in combat, they eschew guns to better concentrate on ripping their enemies to pieces.

Some funny sizes going on, so I was going to go for 27 bases of four 10mm figures for 108 points, 6 bases of two 15mm figures for the leapers to make 24 points and a 28mm figure for 5 points for the corruption to get to 137 points.

***

Painting the same subject in multiple scales within one Challenge...why, that is just BRILLIANT. I would say you are "in a safe space" when it comes to that sort of behaviour. Why, I might even describe such an approach to the hobby as "wise" and "comprehensive". The smaller figures give a larger scale battle, sure, but within that you think, "wow, a skirmish would be lovely!" - so you paint some larger figures, naturally. Then, while skirmish gaming in 28mm, you think "wow, a huge scale battle with a whole lot of figures would make for a great spectacle". You see - it's all a virtuous cycle.

Well done Jamie - 137 points for you!

From AaronH - 10mm Epic Warpath Marauder walkers (12 Points)

This entry is just two 10mm Marauder walkers. These are for Mantic Games' Epic Warpath game, which seems like it will be a lot of fun. I backed their Kickstarter and got the Marauder and GCPS armies (Orks and Imperial Guard).

There's a lot of detail on these for 10mm. They are plastic off a sprue.

These are mostly just yellow and metallic. I hit the visors in blue and they have a wash and some highlighting. Quick and easy but that's what you need when you are painting a whole army of 10mm.

The back view. These are three part models; body and two arms. The only real way to get variation is by how you glue on the arms.

There are six of these in the starter army. For no reason other than head cannon and variety I'm doing three clans. Yellow, red and blue.

I really like the character of these models. Some of the lines in this system don't appeal to me, Asterians for example, but these guys are pretty awesome.

This is 2 x 10mm vehicles for 12 points.

This also hits the Big Stompy Robots side challenge for an additional 2 points

14 points total.

Fabulous work on these mobile suits/robots, Aaron. The yellow is wonderfully punchy, which is what you need for these smaller models. Epic stuff is so awesome, no matter what the setting or period - it just looks cool. I hope we get to see more from this force from you in the coming months.
