From DaveS - Defenders both alien and human - (93pts)

The first thing in this post is some more of my 28mm WW2 resistance fighters from Warlord games, that are probably destined for Bolt Action and AVBCW.  These are all armed with shotguns, and are probably destined to be poorly armed and experienced troops making up numbers in Bolt Action, while they will probably have a more important role in AVBCW

Next up, work on my Wild West Exodus Watchers has continued.  Firstly, I completed the Viridian Chigoes from the starter box.  Not much to say except that I am still only approximating what colour "Viridian" actually is.

Next were 4 more "Grey Elite", also built with jump packs.  Given the number of these I have, I suspect that this will be a very mobile force, although I still have no real idea how they work on the table.

With the others I had already done

Finally, I have the Magenta Alpha, another "Boss" for the game, this time described in the lore as an Apex Predator.

As with all of these larger models, the big challenge has been deciding which bits are "skin" and which are armoured plates.  Ultimately, it appears that I have had to make some arbitrary decisions, but I think that they have turned out alright.

So, that should come to

5x28mm Partisans = 5x5 = 25pts

4x40mm Greys = 4x7 = 28pts

3x54mm Viridians = 30pts

1x54mm Magenta = 10pts

Giving a total of 93pts

From DaveS - Some Transport

Morning, and sorry that I can't think of any suitable 80s TV show related puns for this one.  I'm continuing work on my partisans, and as part of that, they needed a suitable commandeered ride.  Hence, I present a German Army truck, that has been commandeered to drive a dozen Frenchmen with SMG's around in.

The kit is from Rubicon, and went together really nicely.  It's a simple paintjob, and shows that this truck probably has been captured earlier, and never been repainted.

So there we are, a 28mm vehicle, which I believe is 20 points.

DaveS - Good Moaning - French Partisans - 50pts

Following on from my adventures in Greyscale painting, I was really struck by the character of the Partisan models from Warlord Games.  Mixing that with the serendipity of my FLGS having a ridiculously good deal on the newly released French Partisans from Warlord, and I decided that I would start my first ever Bolt Action army - French Resistance.  I've got WWII armies for Konflikt '47 and Chain of Command, but this will be my first adventure using the basic Bolt Action rules.

I contemplated doing these in greyscale but decided that I would rather just paint them in a more normal style.  To that end, I present the first models.

My Officer Commanding.  One of the particularly characterful models that make up the range, and part of why I went with the force.

Another particularly characterful model, with the missing arm.  I see him as a veteran of some conflict.  He came as a spotter for the anti-tank rifle team, but will probably do service as a liaison officer/spotter.

And the first 8 troops.  The idea is to combine all of my SMG's into one mobile veteran squad, leaping out of a truck to rain death on something.  I have no idea if this is a viable tactic, having never played Bolt Action, but it seems in character to me.

So that is my first 10 models for the force, making 50 points for the challenge.  I've just undercoated the next squad, so expect to see more of these soon.

From ScottM: 28mm Greek Slingers & French Partisans (100 points)

For my first post in this year's challenge I went for a combination of two very separate periods. First up is a group of 12 Greek slingers. These are Victrix plastics and were dead easy to assemble and paint. I have them based up for Impetus/Sword & Spear/Hey Seize Her (Hail Caesar). They are part of an ongoing Carthaginian army that I started a year ago.

The second part of my submission is a small group of 8 World War 2 French partisans. These metal figures are the Group Franc pack from Crusader Miniatures. I can't say enough good things about Crusader figs. Just the right amount of detail and they're nice and hefty.

That should 20 28mm infantry for 100 points.

From Ray

A great start to 2018 and your Challenge Scott, the Victrix slingers really look the part and I'm sure they'll give the Roman Velites a run for their money! I do like the splash of colour you've used on them too, it makes the figures pop!
Crusader do make some great figures that almost seem to paint themselves, these included. What I like about these is the complete opposite of the slingers, the absence of to much colour, making a very attractive drab appearance, only highlighted by the clever inclusion of the brick red bricks on the base.
Top work ol' chap!

As you've suggested I too make that a clean round 100 points!
