Friday Minion, Signing Off

Right folks, we're nearly up, and Friday Minion has slipped behind his schedule.

This week the Friday Crew is out in force, we have:
  • TomC with some lovely Samurai
  • JohnE with a bumper crop of WWII and fantasy whimsy
  • LeeHv back amongst us with some BAOR
  • GrahameH with a heap of 15mm Nubians, Napoleonic cavalry and some MESBG
  • DavidB with something I've not seen yet
..and doubtless many more as the posts roll in this evening.

Which just leaves me to say thanks to Snowlord Curt for running the show, the Lady Sarah for her endless patience to allow Curt to do soo, to my fellow minions for their good humour and support and to the Friday crew for keeping the posts rolling in, but not so many that I couldn't get any of my own painting done :-)

Take care folks!
Friday Minion Phil

Is it Spring Yet?

So good to have Thursday out of the way, as I'm burning with jealousy at the Aussies and their continued complaints about summer, while winter clings to my home town like a dessicated swamp hag.  As I check the calendar, I see spring approaches, although it often arrives in Winnipeg with the reliability of a "new release" from Battlefront i.e. about two months after it is pronounced, so I wait in my bunker and grumble while the Winnipeg Jets race to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.  Millsy and his heat waves...

All the same, we are into March now, and starting to run out Challenge runway.  I'd better get some more bloody stuff painted! And as for the Friday gang, they put on quite a show last week, but we'll have to see if we can top that - or the points bombardment unleashed this week by the Wednesday crew...

More feats of brushwork await as we cruise towards another weekend...on with the posts!

Another Fine Weekend Looms

Another fun Friday, with lots of great stuff lined up - WW2 Pacific troops, some great sci-fi stuff, Saxon cavalry, all waiting for your viewing enjoyment and commentary throughout the day. After a week watching my beloved Winnipeg Jets continuing to go down in flames I'm looking forward to seeing some great postings from the Friday team!

Greetings From Palm Desert California!

The view from my room...I love palm trees...
Ah - the minion life! This winter is allegedly "mild" (and the state of winter in Canada is actually determined by the weather conditions in the greater Toronto area, as opposed to the actual entire country - Canada is vast, but our elites struggle to comprehend this). So while it has been nice in Toronto (a fun city, I admit - I do love that town), the winter has still checked in with its usual brutality in the prairies. I still can't stand it, and so we are off this week to the wonderful environs of Palm Desert, in the Coachella Valley of southern California.  My wife and I have been visiting this area during the winter for over 10 years, and it is a trip I look forward to each time!

So no painting anything this week...but still some fun, vaguely hobby-related activity - the Palm Springs Air Museum! Home to a large assortment of WW2-era aircraft - many of them still flying! My dad and I stopped in for a visit this week to see some of our favourite planes...

P-40 Tomahawk - this puppy still flies!
A Dauntless SBD Dive Bomber - the terror of the Imperial Japanese Navy at Midway - another favourite!
A B-17 bomber! Still flying! Very cool to visit this

So there might be a slight delay to a few posts today as I chill out and drink by the pool in the desert of southern California...Canadian winter can f*** itself with a rusty rake - even a so-called "mild one".

On to the postings from our talented Friday crew....

Let the Friday Fun Resume...

Hi everyone! I see our excellent Friday group has already lined up a number of submissions for our enjoyment, and I look forward to posting them today as I huddle in the midst of an "extreme cold warning" from the clowns at Environment Canada...

And so, on to the submissions, and thank God it's Friday!

Another Friday Upon Us! Pardon The Interruption...

It's necessary to pay for more figures, sadly...
Well, another blissful Friday is here! Millsy's reign of terror is over for another week (phew)! While I should be spending today painting like a madman to make up some ground - any ground - in my various side duels, the fact is that 1-1 scale realities will interfere a bit today.  On the one hand, this is bad, as I'm getting killed in all my side duels (have I mentioned how much I hate Catachans?).  On the other hand, it's sort of good, in that I cannot pay for hobby stuff without 1-1 scale work activity, so with that in mind, I apologize in advance for any delays today...let's just all blame Peter, for no particular reason...

Despite my distraction, I'm confident the elite cadre of Friday submitters will deliver some cracking submissions to tickle your commentariat fancy...stay tuned!

And We're Back! It's Friday Fun Again...

Hey, hey! It's Friday again! I'm looking forward to more fabulous submissions.  I see with a certain amount of pride that, once again, the fearsome assemblage of brush jockeys who post on this, the most interesting day of the week, have assembled another fantastic set of entries to wow us.

What will we see? Will Alex - the painting machine - hit us with a whole new army? Will Sylvain hopefully have not painted anything remotely connected to sci-fi? Will I have to accidentally delete any other 30k-themed entries in a vain attempt to catch up in the Horus Heresy duel? Stay tuned to find out!

The countdown to our first post is on...and trust me, that's a lot more fun than what I should be doing, which is painting terrain for the theme submission tomorrow.  But as Curt will tell you (laughing the whole time), I would rather gouge my own eyes out with a rusty spork than paint terrain, so I'm not sure I will make that deadline, to be honest...

And so - on to the first submissions of the week's finest day!

Another Mind Blowing Friday...

Salut encore, mes amis! Il est vendredi à noveau! Welcome to another fabulous Friday (TM) in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.  What awaits today?  Will our minds be blown? I am eager to see, and to post, but also dreading what kind of atomic points bombardment Sylvain will drop next in our sci fi side duel....or to see Jaime put another thirty friggin' awesome looking Marines up as I fall behind in our Horus Heresy duel....anyway, let's get cracking!

Joyeux Vendredi, Mes Amis!

A man set for Friday...
Ah yes, another fine Friday is upon us. As the weekend approaches, I look forward to another furious bout of posts from the wonderful Friday participants in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge - although I could do without another frickin' Sylvain sci-fi points bomb...

Now it's time to find some wine because it's five o'clock somewhere and get painting return to my normal hard work 1-to-1 scale work duties *cough*.  Stay tuned for marvelous submissions from the Friday folks...
