From AdamW. A last huzzah! (272 PTS)

I'm pleased to squeeze these in before the end of the challenge.  After doubling my original goal, I gave myself the luxury of prepping some figures, so didn't think I'd get these finished, so a nice little bonus.

My last entry is some 15mm American Civil War Cavalry, mounted and dismounted.

I already have a pile of these on bases that just need flocking, and these lot needed painting up to join them.

There are four units of mounted and four dismounted in this batch, with a mixture of figures. There are minifigs,  a load of Essex, a couple of Peter pig and a load I don't recognise at all.

It does add another Squirrel, although my first attempt at Squirreling is poor.  That is also a good thing as I remained focused and painted what I needed to paint, rather than paint a whole load of odd bits just to increase my count of the fluffy tailed chaps.

My second AHPC and another successful one.  Having a dedicated painting station makes life so much easier, meaning I can dip in for the odd five minutes while the kettle is boiling.

Hope to see you all again next year, where I will either be deep in the middle of my first proper 25mm project, or knocking out some old 15mm bits to have a break. Thanks to the Overlord and all the minions for their hard work.

Four of the mounted cavalry where old, bashed about but painted, so just needed touching up, so I haven't counted them in my points total.

15mm Cavalry x 44 @4pts = 176

15mm foot       x 48 @2pts = 96

========================

Total                                      272 pts  + 1 Squirrel

From DaveD . Well done Adam thatsa lot of blue! Great to see them both mounted and dismounted too. Is there a Custer in there somewhere? This takes you over 2500 points a fine tally indeed well done.

from RayR - Vienna 1683 - 15mm Ottoman Janissary's 96pts

I'm carrying on with my Vienna 1683 shenanigans, but I've shrunk back down to 15mm once again.
For my army list I needed 4 units of the famous Janissary's of the Ottoman army. Two would be Musket armed and two would be Firelock armed.

The Siege of Vienna saw the elite Janissaries of the Ottoman Empire deployed as the main assault troops during the campaign led by Kara Mustafa Pasha. Renowned for their discipline and training, the Janissaries were originally formed through the devshirme system, in which Christian boys from the Balkans were recruited, converted to Islam, and trained for imperial service. During the siege they were heavily involved in the complex engineering work that characterised Ottoman warfare, digging mines and tunnels beneath Vienna’s fortifications in an attempt to collapse the walls, while also carrying out repeated infantry assaults when breaches appeared.

The siege reached its climax on 12 September 1683 during the Battle of Vienna, when a large relief force from the Holy League arrived to break the Ottoman encirclement. The allied army was led by John III Sobieski, whose forces launched a coordinated attack from the hills surrounding the city. The battle is particularly famous for Sobieski’s massive cavalry charge—often regarded as one of the largest in history—by the Polish Winged Hussars, which helped shatter the Ottoman lines. Despite the determination of the Janissaries defending the Ottoman camp, the army was forced into retreat. The defeat marked a major turning point, halting Ottoman expansion into Central Europe and beginning a gradual shift in the balance of power between the Ottoman Empire and the Christian states of Europe.

I've not named any of these units, but will call them by their coats colours.
The Green regt are armed with Firelocks

As are the Red regt

While the Blue are armed with Muskets

As are the Yellow regt

Usually with Beneath the Lily Banners foot regts are 18 figures, but for this specific scenario they are only 12's. I'll have to ask Barry, why he chose to make them that way?

The figures are all from Essex Miniatures, unfortunately in their Janissary Command pack, the standard bearer has a caste on flag, I really didn't want to paint the flags, so the figure went into the unloved pile and I bought some Janissary halberdiers and converted them into new standard bearers.
The flags are made by my good self, I found an image online, copied it over to Microsoft Paint, where I changed the colours around to suit. I have enough flags to paint another 17 units??? Gulp!

Points mean prizes, or do they?

Each unit had 12 figures, so its 24 points per unit.
4 x 24 makes 96 points!!

From RayR Donnybrook - Vienna 1683 - Polish Dragoons 135pts

Well, it wouldn't be a proper Painting Challenge with one of my Donnybrook entries now would it?
So just to keep you all happy.....here's one!!!

My green coated Polish Dragoons were prepped and undercoated at the start of Challenge 12 in 2021!!!
Isn't that bad that its taken me until now to put some paint on them?

My 9 Polish Dragoons, painted up for my Donnybrook Allied Army for the Relief of Vienna in 1683.
Check out my last post from March 2022, where I painted some Polish Command figures.

The figures are from Reiver Castings and were a joy to paint.

I'll be using the chap in the centre holding his pistol in the air.

There 9 figures will give me 90 points.

Then we also have the dismounted version of the Dragoons.

Unfortunately at the time Reiver didn't have a dismounted Dragoon figure, (not sure if they ever did)
So I had to fall back to my old favourites, Essex Miniatures.

A you can see, my leader is wearing a clock on the dismounted version and not on the mounted version.
I could have sculpted a cloak on the mounted version, but couldn't be arsed!

And here they are all together, the 45 points for the foot figures will be added to the 90 points for the mounted giving me a total of 135 points!!

From DaveD - I wondered when the Donnybrook would kick in properly . They do look fine figures and a grand paint job Ray .135 it is . The only thing left for you to do now is sandbags isn’t it 😆

from RayR - Vienna 1683 - Ottoman Irregular Foot - 15mm 96pts

I'm squeezing in a second post for today, its 23.48 Saturday night and I didn't think I'd get these 48 15mm figures finished, but I'm glad I've got them done!

Once again these Essex minis are for my 15mm Vienna 1683 project. I needed 4 units of Irregular infantry for the Ottomans.

In the scenario the list says 4 units of Irregular foot. I was going to go with all musket armed infantry.

But instead chose 2 units of foot...

A bow armed unit...

And quite possibly a pretty useless unit of spear and shield armed troops.
I'm pretty please as there's now a lot of red ticked off now!!

They did take a little longer than I wanted to to paint them up, as each figure, being Irregular, is painted in random colours.

Apart from the Fez and Turban of course!

So my 4 units of 12 figures each will earn me...96 points!

From DaveD . Yay Ray , good lad for cracking on and taking a second bite at today’s cherry . Good job on irregular colour schemes . They have come out mighty fine . 96 it is .

From GrahameH - 15mm SYW French Artillery and Elizabethan English 900

Not a great year for painting as rebasing some older armies and having to decorate the house. Therefore painting has taken a bit of a backseat.

I decided to try and finish some bits just to finish off stuff that has been sitting on the painting table for too long. The Elizabethan English I started years ago during a previous challenge, so it was nice to get them done.

Flags are from Pete's Flag from Ebay and all based on Impetus type bases with a 8cms frontage.

SYW French Artillery

Three guns each with four crew. 15mm Essex (36pts)

Elizabethan English (15mm Essex)

English Border Horse. 16 Mounted figures (64pts)

I have a few units of these, probably too many, having painted a few units in the past. However, it was either paint them or sell them. So they got painted.

English Commanders.

General (12pts)

Sub General (8pts)

English Pikemen (256pts)

Each block contains 32 figures. I was going to make it 48 but the thought of painting so many pikemen was too much. Especially as I have to finish off a Dutch and Spanish Army for the same period. I think 32 figures look ok(ish). Four block making a total 128 figures.

English  Arquebusiers (128pts)

Four units each 16 figures.

A regiment is made up of a Pike Block and one unit of Arquebusiers in case anyone is interested, hence the flags a similar.

English Billmen (64pts)

Two units of these each of 16 figures. The Blue unit I copied from Warlords Pike and Shotte rule book.

English Sword and Shield (32pts)

A unit of 16 figures. The shield colour is the same as the Spanish unit I painted a few years back so I guess I should change one of them.

English Longbowmen (128pts)

Couldn't be an English Army without some Longbow. These will join other Longbow units previous painted. Four Units here, each of 16 figures.

Mounted Arquebusiers (40pts)

Unit of 10 figures

The Artillery (20pts)

Two Guns and four crew each

The Irish

A this army is intended to fights my Irish I have included a few Irish Mercenaries.

Gallowlas (64 Pts)

Two units of these, again each of 16 figures

Irish Kern (30pts)

Three skirmish units, each of five figures.

A few figures left over so they were painted. I'll use them as markers. (8 pts)

Total 890 Pts

Hopefully I'll finish the Dutch Army next. Most of it is already painted expect for, what seems to be, an awful lot of pikemen which |I am not looking forward to. However, I hope they will get me to my 1500 target.

From DaveD . boom, now there is a mighty points bombe. It’s not often we see those in 15mm either . That’s a real mix of figure options and some tidy flag work too. Let’s call that 900.
