The Monster

Another wild one from the April 1953 issue of Chilling Tales #15, (dig the previous post too), and you'll likely see the ending coming from a few cemeteries away, but I bet you'll still have fun with it all the same! Henry Kiefer's spooky illustrative approach can be a bit rough at times, but it does the job unleashing a bizarre looking monster while also unveiling a uniquely odd, moody graveyard experience...

"Curse of the Tomb"

There's a chill in the air as November 2024 finally creeps in upon us, and that means more chilling tales from the Golden Age era of precode horror comics! And what better way to chill the blood, than with a mummy curse decimating the fools who willingly choose to tempt their own fates! From the April 1953 issue of Chilling Tales #15, with art by Galotti and Lang.

Sacrifice!

Let's close out a rather macabre May 2024 with a proper offering to the ancient elder comic book gods of horror, from the April 1953 issue of Chilling Tales #15, and featuring art by Vince Napoli. Tomb in all next month for lots more terrifyin' treats, and we here at The Horrors of it All hope that everyone enjoyed the selection of posts this month...

Pursued / The Screaming Skull

Well, we've come this far with the December 1952 issue of Chilling Tales #13, might as well finish it out for another FULL ISSUE THOIA presentation! It's definitely been a while since we've had a screaming skull story, so here we go with a rather soggy double header (one by land, and one by sea, and both are pretty much the exact same tale o'vengeance), but first we'll dive into the eerie, dark depths-- just try not to get water up your noses! Classic cover art by Matt Fox.

The Hand of Glory

Had some requests for anything by mad Matt Fox, so today is the day that I oblige, which also just happens to coincide with my own unwitting need to wait a decade between glory hand story posts! So after you read todays terrifically cockamamie tale from the December 1952 issue of Chilling Tales #13, click HERE for another glorious hand that just so happens to be hanging around in the THOIA Archive...

Spider Hider

You wanted the grossest, and you got it! The grossest story in the land-- SPIDER HIDER! From the December 1952 issue of Chilling Tales #13, plus more mediocre art by Vince Napoli. Ugh...

Napoli even swiped himself in this one, compare the panel at the bottom of page 4 with the illustration he did for the 'The Insistent Ghost' found in the Sept '50 issue of Weird Tales:
