Terror at Midnight

Summertime blues got ya down? How about a frigid lil Werewolf Wednesday fright fest to cheer ya's all up then? Manny Stallman turns on the weird winter transformational terrors with a truly hairy scary entry from the August 1952 issue of Suspense #21. And fyi, I have some more fanged-freak action up next as well, so do stay tombed, please...

The House!

If the penthouse a few posts ago wasn't haunted enough for ya, then try this place on for shiverin' size! I'm sure you'll definitely find it to be much more in the spirit of things from the great, ghostly beyond! And from the July 1953 issue of Chamber of Chills #18, with an atmospherically attractive art team-up by John Giunta and Manny Stallman too!

Mannequin of Murder!

Manny Stallman takes us out on a wild manny-quin murder spree with a truly madcap Harvey Horror classic from the February 1953 issue of Witches Tales #17. And for more mannequin madcappery, head over to AEET HERE for a sillier, saucier side of our still life subject matter this month! Hope everyone enjoyed this brief look at the darker side of department store doomies!

Skeleton in the Closet

Atlas proving once again that they could just as easily pour enough character development and crazy creepiness into 5 pages, to give a typical 7 page EC tale a run for its newsstand money. From the August 1952 issue of Uncanny Tales #2, with macabre art by mad Manny Stallman. Love that ending!

The Little Pests

Here's a little 4 page reminder from the October 1952 issue of Adventures into Terror #12 that even your most water-logged idea of brutalized body disposal could potentially backfire on you if you simply overlook the smaller things in life. *SLAP! Yep, we're keepin' the mean-spirited, rancid romance alive all this month here at THOIA with eerie excursions into the most awful, wedded lifestyles. And don't forget the DDT!

The Flat Man / Crazy Glass

A couple of flatso fright tales for you today, both from the May 1952 issue of Spellbound #3 --and if you check the Atlas Tales link a few words back with the THOIA Archive, you'll discover that like our last post, this is also another FULL ISSUE PRESENTATION! Okay, some of you might remember the other much more hilariously violent "Flat Man" story I posted way back in 2007 (CLICK HERE), but I believe you will find this one smashing too-- just pay close attention to what he says in the 5th panel on page 3 so you're not dwelling on what seems like a giant stupid plot hole-- PLUS, rounding everything out with the confusingly kooky "Crazy Glass" quickie.

SLIMMER! NOT FLATTER!!

Terror at Midnight

Last tale from the August 1952 issue of Suspense #21, and that makes it official-- another FULL ISSUE PRESENTATION here at THOIA (check out the last 5 posts for the rest of this issue in case you missed anything!) Nice artwork in today's post too-- and especially during this awful summer heatwave, these snowbound stories of wintery weirdness are very much welcome to help cool things down with some shivery chills up 'n down our 'ol spooked-out spines!

More Atlas on the way too-- stay tombed! (And while you're at it, head over to my other blog for some Monster News and Monster Hit Parade fun too! CLICK HERE!)

Monkey Face!

Sometimes 'ol sure smilin' Stan could be a real barrel of silly monkeys, as evidenced by this quickie classic from the August 1953 issue of Astonishing #26, story art by Manny Stallman (cover by Russ Heath.)

The Seal of Satan

You only have to see the word "Satan" in a title to know how this one's going to turn out for some poor schmuck-- but of course half the fun is getting (down) there! It also helps to have a sizzling hot dose of sexy artwork from Stallman and Giunta! Where's that pen-- sign me up!

From the April 1952 issue of Chamber of Chills Magazine #7.
