Time for a hysterical visit to hillbilly Hell, from the August 1954 issue of This Magazine is Haunted #19. I'm not exactly sure the writer of this tale understands how scarecrows work (ain't they supposed'ta scare the crows away?!), but in any event, it sure leads to one endless string of perfectly entertaining precode insanity and ultra violent supernatural vengeance from beyond the corn(field.) BRANG it on!

The Little Black Box / Black Crows!
What October would be complete without an Atlas tale-- or two! Yes, THOIA is back in black with a couple of truly dark, mortifyingly mysterious terror tales! And jolting Joe Maneely lights it all up with a super hot little number from the March 1952, debut issue of Mystery Tales #1, --it's guaranteed to give you heart burn! Followed by a scary story from the January 1954 issue of Mystery Tales #17 about an 80's rock band from Georgia that released 8 studio albums and-- just joking-- it's the long awaited return of astounding Al Luster to this blog! And whoa, despite being one of my all-time Atlas favorites, this is the first Luster post we've seen around these parts in nearly 10 years! That alone should be enough to shake your money maker! ;)

After today's post, head over to my other blog for a hilarious "Splater Version" of Siskel and Ebert's At the Movies-- PLUS, a spoof on precode horror and Creepshow!

Revenge of the Corpse
Here we go with a week of living dead tales! And to make it more fun lets play the “Casting Call” game, shall we? Just tell us in the comments section what famous name or face you’d like to see in the roles of the main characters in this week’s stories. We do it here occasionally anyway from time to time so let’s just make it official.
EXAMPLE: Revenge of the Corpse: Starring Beverly Garland as Lizzie, Mark Damon as Rufe, and Elisha Cook Jr as crazy Old Abner Baines.
Actors can be from any era but lets try to keep them all within their own acting career time frame per story, (for example don’t mix Drew Barrymore with John Barrymore.) Also, your cast does not have to look EXACTLY like the characters in the story, just as long as they are type cast properly.
So have fun, be creative, and enter as many times as you want. The best, most unique and inspired casting call of the week will win a THOIA shirt or something. Start casting NOW!

Scarecrow’s Revenge
Here in the midwest scarecrows go hand in hand with Halloween as much as ghosts, goblins, black cats, and toilet paper in the trees. And if it’s a Rudy Palais story with a tricky killer scarecrow then you know you’re in for a spooky treat.
