Buried in the back pages of the July - August 1948 issue of Exposed #3, (among the typical sort of bang bang gangster crime stories) lurks this hair-raisin' Harry Kiefer illustrated tale of vicious voodoo ultra violence. Swirling with demons, death dolls, and brutal torture, this is a wild little ghastly gem of grisly horror from south of the blood-soaked border...

Ballad of Hanging Rock
I suppose it's been a bit since we traversed the terror trails of the weird west, so let's settle in now for a real dandy from the May 1986 issue of Elvira's House of Mystery #3. Every panel is locked and loaded with blazin' artwork by Angel Trinidad, Jr. And if you're wonderin' how this story fits into our macabre month of vicious Valentine love ballads from the beyond, well then, how about we just let the 'ol singin' bag of bones belt-out a beauty for ya, --you'll be swingin' along in no time.

The Phantom Devils of Lorado
I posted a couple of Masked Marvel weird western tales a few months back HERE and everyone seemed to have fun with them, so here's another one that also actually fits pretty well with our last post since everyone equally enjoyed giant intrusive centerpiece page illustrations (this time we get a goddamned devil head's facial orifices becoming the actual story page panels-- and it somehow looks even crazier than it sounds!) So hold on to your foreheads, here he comes to save the violent day! From the August 1951 issue of Gunsmoke #14.

The Blood Sucker of Banta Gulch / Beasts of Horror!
Everyone seemed to enjoy our previous excursion into the weird wild west, so let's do it again with a Double Creature Feature this time, and both starring lily-livered pantywaist by day, Chet Fairchild, who puts on a good nervous Nelly sissy show, but then dons a scary skull mask by night to take on the eerie evils of the Earth as --The Masked Marvel! Fun stuff for you gallopin' gourmets of ghoulishly goofy Golden Age western / horror! From the October 1951 issue of Gunsmoke #15, and the January 1952 issue of Gunsmoke #16.

Hand Wrenched from the Grave / Tortures of the Damned
Blogger's acting glitchy again, and I've been trying to get this one up for a few days-- anyway, I guess it's working now, so here's the final weird west horror post as promised, finally... another spooky fun "Tales of the Ghost Rider" double feature, both by Dick Ayers and both from the March 1953 issue of The Ghost Rider #11. Has anyone ever seen (or have) one of those cool mail-away Ghost Rider masks in the ad below?
