Swamp Girl
A few of you seemed to enjoy the Dracu-Cat kitten in our last post, so here's another frisky little feline transformation tale from the swampier sector of the April 1953 issue of Mystic #19. Dare I call today's post a "Werecat Wednesday" weirdy? Well, I guess I just did. And to be honest, even better than the story is that amazingly creepy cover art by Carl Burgos!

The Storm
There's no need for a boarding pass when you enter today's gate (of Hell), as Vic Carrabotta delivers an aircraft cabin full of awesome creeps (and a really hot number in the cockpit) in this wonderfully atmospheric tale of a crazed killer on the run. From the July 1952 issue of Strange Tales #8.

Lost!
It's been awhile since we've seen an Atlas post, so here's a queer little quickie from the July 1952 issue of Adventures into Weird Worlds #8. And maybe we'll go ahead and finish out the month with a few more creepy Atlas classics as well-- so stay tombed!

Pursued / The Screaming Skull
Well, we've come this far with the December 1952 issue of Chilling Tales #13, might as well finish it out for another FULL ISSUE THOIA presentation! It's definitely been a while since we've had a screaming skull story, so here we go with a rather soggy double header (one by land, and one by sea, and both are pretty much the exact same tale o'vengeance), but first we'll dive into the eerie, dark depths-- just try not to get water up your noses! Classic cover art by Matt Fox.

Man at the Grave / Fangs of the Vampire
The other day we saw the pursuit of a vampire, today we'll feel the requested fangs of one-- but first let's see what's up with that creepy old gent over at the graveyard-- two tales from the March 1954 issue of Astonishing #31, featuring atmospheric art from Vic Carrabotta, followed by Joe Sinnott, and the typically terrifying cover genius of Joe Maneely.

The House on the Hill
Here's a super creepy Vic Carrabotta classic from the May 1952 issue of Astonishing #13. This issue is one of my absolute favorite pre-code comics in my entire Golden Age collection, and features many great stories by some of the best that Atlas had to offer: Ogden Whitney, Cal Massey (who we featured in our last post), and the incredible Bernie Krigstein (who we plan to feature next!)
If you haven't already, click HERE to see the other 3 stories I've posted from this issue... but not until you've read-- The House on the Hill!
