Teddy Doesn't Seem to Smile Anymore!

Wow, we haven't had a Frank Robbins story around here since 2016. Time to fix that with a funny little 3-page chiller from the August - September 1974 issue of House of Mystery #226. Nobody draws cute women quite like 'ol Frank did, and here's a perfect example...

"Night of the Blood-Feast!"

Something to (blood)tide you over with as I work on a much larger post coming up next-- this is a quick and predictably fun little nazi terror tale with superbly unpredictable artwork by THOIA fave, Frank Robbins. From the March '75 issue of Weird War Tales #35. GRR-R-R-RGH-H-H-H-H...

The Lady Who Collected Dracula

Vance wrote in reminding me to post more Frank Robbins, so I dug around the crypt a little and unearthed this awesome bloodsucker classic written by Doug Moench --plus an art assist from Frank Springer. Robbins really amps up the sexy and sinister in this one, --so hang onto your fangs and BATten down the hatches!

From the November 1974 issue of Dracula Lives! #9.

The Curse of the Fool Moon

Back in January I posted a freaky Frank Robbins vampire tale (click HERE if you missed it), and now today I have another great one illustrated by him as we kick off March 2014 with a Week of Werewolf posts! Today's terrifically illustrated howler comes from the Feb - March 1975 issue of Weird Mystery Tales Vol. 4 #16, and David Michelinie's story is a bit reminiscent of I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957) --a horror film classic that's a favorite here in Karswell's Kastle!

The Vampire Soul!

Aka: "The Wisdom of Many, the Wit of One." Written and illustrated by Frank Robbins (plot by Doug Moench), this is an odd, fast paced, and sexy vampire tale from the Dec - Jan '74-'75 issue of House of Mystery #228. Man, I would love to see more of "Martha" in her low cut vinyl top and thigh high go-go boots-- hey, maybe someone out there can resurrect her in her own DC horror mini-series someday! See another incredible (and rare) Frank Robbins vampire fox epic in the THOIA Archive by clicking HERE!

The Night of the Mummy!

Thought I'd give ya's something else a little more grandiose action / adventure oriented today, and never fear-- there's plenty of horror elements included to keep you monster kids happy as well! Lamont Cranston, aka The Shadow finds himself wrapped up in another weird, sinister situation with an epic mystery involving a murderous, unstoppable mummy! Denny O'Neil's script is fast paced and fun, and Frank Robbin's atmospheric artwork is awesomely suited to the thrills and chills! From the Dec-Jan 1974 issue of The Shadow #8 (check the THOIA Archive for another great Frank Robbins horror tale about a vampire vixen by clicking HERE!)
