HAUNTED LOVE #3 / Tomb for Two

IN STORES this Wednesday, April 6th-- it's HAUNTED LOVE #3! Yes, screams a charm as the third and finale fright-filled issue of IDW’s hair-raising new hit misery-series, HAUNTED LOVE concludes with a gag-gle of gruesome guys ’n gals ensnared in shivery tales of love and romance gone horribly awry! Seven macabre matches most definitely NOT made in heaven-- and here we have a FULL STORY preview of the first terrible tale from the issue-- an awful Tomb for Two, originally presented in the March 1952 issue of Journey into Fear #6. (WARNING: HAUNTED LOVE is not recommended for lovers of long walks on the beach, soft music, or candlelight dinners.)

The Zombie's Doom

Here's another one from the August 1952 issue of Forbidden Worlds #8, (see our last post too), art this time by Harry Lazarus who we have featured here at THOIA many many times over the years. And yeah, if anyone is curious, it was indeed a zombie that took a giant bite out of my cover,--thus forever sealing this issue's DOOM! More from this crazy issue in our next post too!

The Part-Time Corpse! +CONTEST

Wanna win yourself a copy of David Lucarelli's THE CHILDREN'S VAMPIRE HUNTING BRIGADE Vol. 1 (and signed by David too?!) Long time THOIA readers might already know a bit about this, as details depicted in this graphic collection are based on actual TRUE eerie, events that happened half a century ago in Scotland,  when hundreds of armed children descended upon a cemetery at night in search of a killer vampire (events possibly sparked by THIS precode comic book story.) It's a fun, fast paced GN (more info about it HERE) and also features an introduction by Mr. Karswell himself! As for the contest, all you have to do is email me at: karswell @ hotmail.com to enter! You have until Friday, May 16th to do so...

In the meantime the posts keep coming-- it's another one from the September 1954 issue of Mystic #33!

The Horror of the Walking Corpse

Apologies for the delay in posts-- it's time to get Oct rottin' and rollin' and vomitin'! I had the putrid pleasure of spending the day recently at DAN CON 2013 with gore metal madman artist Eric Rot and his fabulously foxy better half-- Lidia Vomito! And to top it off, Chicago's most hardcore killer kouple sends over some scans of a most gruesome horror tale originally presented in the February 1954 issue of Dark Mysteries #16. Yeah, some guys 'n ghouls share sappy songs in their relationship, Eric and Lidia share this heart warming story of a love that creeps 'n crawls much deeper and darker than the haunted grave! Dig examples of Eric's own atrocities by clicking HERE!

Bride of Death

Time for a charming "love" story from the sincerely creepy pencil and inked stained mind of Jack Katz, (type his name into the THOIA search engine for more of his crazy work posted here over the years [or check our Artist cloud! -- Nequam]) --this tale was originally presented in the December 1952 issue of Adventures into Darkness #7.

Horror of Mixed Torsos! / ZOMBIES

Today we have one of the most violent and awesomely repulsive pre-code tales ever, originally featured in the August 1953 issue of Dark Mysteries #13. I posted this many zombie moons ago here at THOIA, and now it can also be found in the new IDW / Yoe Books Chilling Archives of Horror Comics hardcover series collection ZOMBIES by Craig Yoe and Steve "Karswell" Banes-- in comic book shops today, and everywhere else in 2 weeks! Be sure to drop me a line and let us know if your local comic store is carrying the book, if they are not then tell them they should--- or else! We'd love to hear from you if you do buy it today... and a very sincere thanks to all the websites and blogs out there that helped promote it by spreading the word!

(If your site mentions or reviews ZOMBIES, please copy and paste your link into the comments section here, or send us a picture of yourself with your new favorite zombie book to karswell@hotmail.com --THANK YOU!)

The Dead Are Never Lonely

Here's a real kooky spooker with fantastic art from the March 1953 issue of Baffling Mysteries #14, (plus a bonus one-page story from the same issue.) We'll be finishing out the month of April with a week of Ace terror tales, specifically highlights from Baffling Mysteries and The Beyond.

Beyond that, none may not know what awaits...
