How to Win a Witch!

What would you do if you won a supernaturally powered redhead? I hope you have a better plan than 'ol lame brain Lester here, but also maybe there's a lesson or two to be learned from all of this macabre madness, as well! From the December 1972 issue of The Witching Hour #26.

They Walk By Night

We started off the month of March with a trio of screaming tales of mannequin madness, so let's close it out now with one more! From the March - April 1973 issue of Forbidden Tales of Dark Mansion #10, and featuring some seriously crazed artwork by Bill Payne. Not to mention a nice and, yes Brian, related to the story cover by THOIA Golden Age favorite, Nick Cardy! We'll see everyone again shortly in April for lots more!

To Wake the Dead

We've seen this type of story around here before: a rich asshole schemer ignores eerie warnings and awakens the vengeful supernatural-- but Ernie Chua delivers a really petrifying panel of pissed off dead at the top of page 5 (it's somehow even creepier than Nick Cardy's awesome cover art), plus a really cool, freak-out splash too, and that my friends makes this post essential for the THOIA Archive! From the August 1973 issue of The Unexpected #149. FYI: Fans of The Spectre should keep their eyes peeled for a certain police officer guest star possibly implied in today's tale as well...

Death is a Dummy in Disguise

Added a Howdy Doody dummy to my son's ever growing ventriloquist doll collection this xmas... he's got quite a weird little army amassing-- and the wife says they give her the heebie jeebies! Now for you guys, I also have a ventriloquist related present, a story with an equally weird bit of "unexpected" heebie jeebies --as well as the creeps! From the March 1974 issue of The Unexpected #156.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

'Til Death Do Us Part (X2)

Someone over at Standard Comics really liked the " 'Til / Till Death Do Us Part " title, because they used it two issues in a row: the July 1953 issue of Out of the Shadows #9 (Joe Orlando art?), and the October 1953 issue of Out of the Shadows #10. Two interesting tales, with two morbidly satisfying outcomes. (fyi: issue completists, Out of the Shadows #9 is now on THOIA in its entirety.)

Destroy My Enemy

Things have been a bit weird around Kastle Karswell lately, so please allow me to weirden your weekend with a ghostly pirate horror tale from the Oct. '53 issue of Out of the Shadows #10. Argh!
